If Android Auto’s weather area is blank, the likely explanation may be feature availability rather than a phone setting: an Android Auto team Community Specialist said on March 11, 2026, that weather was “not yet available in Android Auto” and that the team was exploring options to reinstate it. If weather appears but shows the wrong place, check your phone’s location and app permissions instead. These are different problems, and the right troubleshooting path depends on which one you have.
First, identify what is wrong
Separate a missing display from weather that appears but is inaccurate. Also check whether your phone reports the correct location and weather outside Android Auto, and whether the issue happens only when the phone is connected to the car.

- No data in the weather box, or no weather display: check the feature’s current availability before changing settings.
- Weather shows the wrong place: check phone location and the relevant app’s location permission.
- Maps or location is wrong only while connected: check Maps and Android Auto permissions and background restrictions.
- The place is right but the temperature or conditions look wrong: treat this as a separate, unresolved mismatch; the available sources do not establish a general cause or current official fix.
If the Android Auto weather area is blank or absent
Google’s Android Auto Help Community thread “No data in weather box left lower corner” records a March 11, 2026 response from Shariq, an Android Auto team Community Specialist: “The weather information is not yet available in Android Auto. Our team is exploring options to reinstate the weather feature.” The reply also said the team would track updates and share more information when available.

Check Google’s current Android Auto help for up-to-date product information. If the display is simply absent, changing location permissions cannot restore a feature the product does not currently offer. The sources do not establish that resetting your phone, replacing a cable, buying a head unit, or installing another app will bring back the panel.

If weather shows the wrong location
Check location outside Android Auto
- Check the phone’s location: make sure Location is enabled, then see whether your phone identifies the correct place outside the car connection.
- Review the relevant app’s Location permission: Google’s instructions for Android direct users to the Google Home app’s app information and Permissions section to review location access. Menu names and paths can vary by Android version and phone maker.
- Check which assistant or app is providing the result: Google’s Assistant help says location access supports more useful local responses, including weather. Assistant and Gemini availability can vary; Google’s Android Auto app-launcher help notes the Assistant-to-Gemini transition and varying availability. Follow the permission settings for the app actually providing your result.
See Google Assistant’s instructions for location on Android for its guidance on reviewing access.
If the phone’s location goes wrong only when connected
If Maps itself shows an inaccurate position only while Android Auto is connected, older Google community guidance recommends checking Google Maps’ Location permission, Android Auto permissions, and whether battery optimization or background activity limits Maps. The detailed guidance dates to 2019, so menu labels may no longer match and the steps are not a guaranteed weather fix. Review background restrictions only if the symptoms suggest Maps is being prevented from updating; relaxing them can increase battery use.

The historical advice appears in this Google Android Auto community GPS-position troubleshooting reply. It concerns location behavior, not evidence that a missing weather feature can be restored.
If the location is right but the weather is wrong
When the place name is correct but the temperature or conditions are not, the sources do not establish a definitive cause or a current official fix. A February 2020 Google community discussion about Android Auto showing the wrong temperature includes user reports, but does not prove a general explanation.

- Note whether the place name, temperature, or conditions are wrong.
- Check whether the same mismatch appears on the phone outside Android Auto.
- If it persists, send feedback through the relevant Google app’s feedback option. A report does not guarantee a fix.
Do not treat advice for an inaccurate Maps position as an established fix for wrong weather conditions when the location is already correct.
