Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteIf weather is missing from your car’s Android Auto screen, first check whether you mean a missing visual app or a voice assistant that will not answer. They are separate features: Android Auto displays compatible phone apps, while an assistant can speak a weather report. A phone weather app does not automatically work on the car screen, and Android Auto does not promise a permanent forecast tile on every vehicle layout.
Check whether your weather app is compatible with Android Auto
Google supports weather as a category of Android for Cars apps, including apps that can present weather information such as temperature, wind, and radar overlays. That does not make every weather app installed on a phone available in the car. The app must support Android Auto, and availability can vary by account and region.

- While parked, open the Play Store on your phone. Make sure you are signed in to the Google account you use on that phone. Search for the weather app and check whether Play Store identifies it as available for Android Auto. Google notes that account personalization can affect which compatible apps are shown.
- Check the Android Auto launcher. Connect your phone and look for the app in the car’s Android Auto app launcher. An app’s presence on the phone alone does not establish that it supports the car display.
- If it should be compatible but is missing or not working, contact the app developer. Google directs users to the app developer for app-specific troubleshooting. The available official guidance does not identify a universal cache-clearing, reinstall, or accessory fix.
Understand what weather information an app can show
Google’s developer documentation describes a Weather app category for car apps. Depending on the app, weather information may be visual rather than spoken, and may focus on current conditions, forecasts, radar, or alerts. Google’s documentation sets design limits for this surface: map visuals must be legible, displayed maps must be weather-related, and weather animations must not appear on the templated surface while driving. It permits forecast information for upcoming hours or days and heads-up alerts for important imminent or route-related weather; these are design allowances, not a guarantee that every app provides them.

Google’s documentation does not establish that every Android Auto layout includes an always-visible weather card. If an app is unavailable in your account’s Play Store or absent from the launcher, check its Android Auto availability with its developer rather than assuming a vehicle fault.

Use voice weather as a separate fallback
If you need the forecast and no compatible visual app is available, ask the car’s voice assistant for the current weather or forecast while parked. Google has documented Assistant weather actions in compatible cars, including having Assistant provide a weather report. A spoken response is not a replacement for a permanent visual forecast tile.
Assistant availability is changing: Google says Gemini is replacing Assistant on most mobile devices during 2026. The in-car experience may vary with the user’s rollout, so check which assistant is active and try the weather request again when safely parked. If the voice request fails as well, the official guidance does not establish one setting or reset that fixes every phone, vehicle, and assistant configuration.

Choose an app based on the forecast you need
Compare only apps that are actually available for your account and region. Google does not endorse a particular commercial weather app; these are practical features to check in an app’s listing or documentation:
- Forecast or radar: Decide whether you mainly need a spoken forecast, current conditions, or a visual radar view.
- Time range: Check whether the app offers current conditions, hourly forecasts, daily forecasts, or some combination.
- Route relevance: If you need weather alerts, confirm whether the app offers imminent or route-related alerts; Google’s design rules permit them but do not require every app to include them.
- Car-screen availability: Verify Android Auto compatibility in Play Store and confirm that the app appears in the launcher. A phone-only listing or installation is not enough.
Troubleshoot and configure only when parked
Check app compatibility, launcher visibility, and voice-assistant behavior while parked; do not troubleshoot while driving. Google’s weather-app rules are intended to keep car displays focused and legible, and prohibit weather animations on the templated surface while driving. If the app is compatible but the problem persists, the app developer is the relevant support route. The exact cause cannot be determined without the vehicle, phone, country, app, and symptom.
Quick Recap
Rank #3
- Keep Your Phone in Your Pocket: Turn factory wired CarPlay or Android Auto into a wireless setup and keep using your car’s original screen. This 2-in-1 wireless adapter is ideal for households with both iPhone and Android phones sharing a vehicle. Connects to one phone at a time; disconnect the current phone before connecting another.
- Plug and Play for Everyday Drives: Just plug the adapter into your car’s USB data port and pair your phone via Bluetooth. After the initial setup, it reconnects automatically on later drives, so you can skip the usual plug-and-unplug routine—whether it’s your morning commute or a quick errand. Keep Bluetooth and Wi-Fi enabled.
- Less Clutter Around the Console: A compact wireless adapter that helps reduce phone cable clutter running across your console every time you drive. The mini dongle takes up little space and includes two extension cables for USB-A and USB-C data ports, making the adapter easier to position around recessed or hard-to-reach ports.
- Your Usual Apps, Now Wireless: Follow your route, put on a playlist, take a call, or use voice commands through CarPlay or Android Auto. Bluetooth 5.4 handles pairing, while Wi-Fi 6 carries the wireless connection. Works with your car’s supported steering wheel, knob, and touchscreen controls, with fewer phone cables to manage.
- Check the Fit Before You Buy: Your car needs factory wired CarPlay for a compatible iPhone (iOS 10 or later), or factory wired Android Auto for a compatible Android phone running Android 11 or later. Connect your phone with a USB data cable first to check that the matching system works. Not for BMW, Tesla, or aftermarket head units. Video playback, screen mirroring are not supported.
