The transfer is account-based, not a manual save import. Sign in with the Activision account that already owns your Call of Duty content, link your PlayStation Network, Xbox, PC or other supported platform accounts to that same Activision identity, then launch Modern Warfare 4 and Warzone with it. Warzone will carry eligible operators, operator skins, weapon blueprints and weapons from recent games into its Season 1 integration. Modern Warfare 4 multiplayer, however, starts its own Soldier Rank, weapon progression, Apex Attachments and Prestige systems, so you should not expect every old rank, camo, attachment setup or custom class to appear there.
Modern Warfare 4 launches on October 23, 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC and Nintendo Switch 2. Warzone begins integrating Modern Warfare 4 content and seasonal progression with Season 1. At that transition, the Warzone experience leaves PlayStation 4 and Xbox One behind.

What “transferring” Call of Duty progress really means
There is no separate export file or one-time migration code. Your entitlements and progression are associated with your Activision account. Activision’s cross-progression guidance says progression carries across the platforms linked to that account, so the critical step is using the correct identity everywhere.
That account rule solves a common problem when someone moves from PlayStation to Xbox or PC: the platform changes, but the Activision account does not. If you create or select a different Activision account on the new device, the game can look empty even though your old content still exists on the original account.

The result differs by game mode:
- Warzone: eligible operators, operator skins, blueprints and weapons from the specified recent titles remain available when the Season 1 integration begins.
- Modern Warfare 4 multiplayer: the game has a separate Soldier Rank, weapon progression, Apex Attachments and two Prestige paths. Official information does not promise that previous multiplayer ranks, weapon levels, camos or custom loadouts become Modern Warfare 4 multiplayer progress.
Think of the process as preserving account ownership and accessing supported Warzone content, not converting every historical statistic into a new game’s progression track.
When the Modern Warfare 4 and Warzone changes take effect
| Change | Date or scope | What it means for you |
|---|---|---|
| Modern Warfare 4 release | October 23, 2026 | The new title is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC and Nintendo Switch 2. |
| Warzone integration | Season 1 of the Modern Warfare 4 cycle | Supported operators, skins, blueprints and weapons enter the integrated Warzone experience. |
| Older console support | At the Season 1 transition | PlayStation 4 and Xbox One are removed from the Warzone experience. |
If you are still using an older console, plan the platform move before Season 1 rather than waiting for the transition. Your Activision account can remain the same, but the hardware must be one of the supported platforms for the new Warzone experience.
Prepare the account before installing or launching
Find the account that owns your content
Start with the Activision account you used for the games in which you earned or purchased the content. Do not begin by making a new account on the new console. Sign in to Activision Account Management using the email address and credentials associated with your existing Call of Duty profile.

Check the account’s identity before changing anything. Your display name alone is not a reliable way to distinguish accounts, particularly if you have played on multiple platforms. The objective is to identify the account that shows your established game history and the platform links you actually use.
Confirm every platform link
In Activision Account Management, open the account-linking or linked-accounts area and verify the intended PlayStation Network, Xbox, Steam, Battle.net or other supported platform account is attached to the same Activision account. Repeat the check for each platform you plan to use.
- Keep the original platform account linked if it is still yours and you want to retain access there.
- Make sure the new console or PC account is the one you intend to use; a similarly named family or secondary account can be different.
- Do not switch to a newly created Activision account merely because the new device suggests one during setup.
The account link is the bridge between platforms. Installing the game on the correct hardware without that link will not move your progression.

Use one Activision identity in both games
When Modern Warfare 4 and Warzone ask you to sign in, select the same Activision identity you verified in Account Management. If the game displays a different profile, stop before beginning a new progression track and correct the sign-in association.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsStep-by-step transfer and verification procedure
- Sign in to the original Activision account. Use the account that contains your existing Call of Duty progression, operators or purchases.
- Open Account Management and inspect linked accounts. Confirm the intended PlayStation Network, Xbox, Steam, Battle.net or other supported platform account is linked to that Activision account.
- Install Modern Warfare 4 and Warzone on the supported platform. For the 2026 release, supported platforms are PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC and Nintendo Switch 2. PlayStation 4 and Xbox One will not provide the Warzone experience after the Season 1 transition.
- Launch using the verified Activision identity. Do not accept a prompt that would create a separate account if you already have one.
- Open Warzone and inspect Loadouts. Look for the Legacy tab. Weapons carried from Modern Warfare II, Modern Warfare III, Black Ops 6 and Black Ops 7 are expected there when the Season 1 integration is active.
- Rebuild each legacy loadout. Legacy weapons use a five-attachment version. Prior custom loadouts are not supported, and legacy weapons or blueprints cannot use Gunsmith functionality, so select attachments again within the available five-slot limit.
- Check operators and blueprints in Warzone. Operators and their skins, along with earned or purchased weapon blueprints, are the supported categories identified for carry-forward.
- Start Modern Warfare 4 multiplayer progression separately. Expect the new Soldier Rank, weapon progression, Apex Attachments and the game’s Prestige choices rather than an imported historical rank.
What carries forward in Warzone
Activision’s September 24, 2026 clarification states that operators and weapons from Modern Warfare II, Modern Warfare III, Black Ops 6 and Black Ops 7 remain available in Call of Duty: Warzone starting with Season 1, including the skins and blueprints earned or purchased for them.
| Content | Warzone status from Season 1 | Important limitation |
|---|---|---|
| Operators | Remain available | The carry-forward statement applies to the named recent titles and the integrated Warzone experience. |
| Operator skins | Remain available with the supported operators | Availability is tied to the same Activision account that owns the content. |
| Weapon blueprints | Remain available | Legacy blueprint Gunsmith editing and prior custom loadouts are not supported. |
| Weapons from Modern Warfare II, Modern Warfare III, Black Ops 6 and Black Ops 7 | Accessible through Warzone’s Legacy tab | Legacy weapons receive a five-attachment version. |
| Legacy weapon camos | Not promised by the September 24 clarification | Do not treat a previous camo as guaranteed carry-forward content. |
| Previous custom loadouts | Not supported for legacy weapons or blueprints | Recreate classes using the legacy attachment limits. |
The distinction between a blueprint and a custom loadout matters. The blueprint entitlement can remain available while the exact class you saved in an earlier Warzone version does not. Likewise, a weapon can appear in Legacy while its old Gunsmith editing behavior is unavailable.

What does not automatically become Modern Warfare 4 multiplayer progress
Modern Warfare 4 has its own rank and weapon systems
Modern Warfare 4 introduces a separate Soldier Rank and weapon progression. Its weapon system includes Apex Attachments, and it offers two Prestige paths. These systems are part of Modern Warfare 4 itself; they are not described as an import of earlier multiplayer levels.
The two Prestige paths work differently
| Path | Effect described for Modern Warfare 4 |
|---|---|
| Classic Prestige | Resets Create-a-Class progression in exchange for increased XP and exclusive rewards. |
| Regular Prestige | Restarts level progression without resetting Create-a-Class content. |
Because these are new progression choices, an old multiplayer rank or weapon level should not be used as a reason to expect a matching Modern Warfare 4 level. You will make the relevant progression and Prestige decisions inside the new game.

Camos require a specific qualification
The official carry-forward clarification lists operators, operator skins, weapon blueprints and weapons. It does not promise legacy weapon camos. A camo that was visible in an earlier title may therefore be unavailable in the integrated Warzone experience or may follow rules that are announced separately. Do not delete or rebuild an account based on an assumption that every camo transfers.

Moving from PlayStation to Xbox, PC or Nintendo Switch 2
Changing hardware does not require a new progression account. Link the new platform account to the Activision account that already owns your content, then launch both games with that identity. This is the same procedure whether you move from PlayStation to Xbox, Xbox to PC, PC to PlayStation or to Nintendo Switch 2.
What changes when you switch platforms
- The platform account used to launch the game changes.
- Your Activision account should remain unchanged.
- Warzone’s supported carry-forward categories are evaluated against that Activision account.
- Modern Warfare 4 multiplayer still uses its own Soldier Rank and progression systems on the new platform.
Older-console transition
PlayStation 4 and Xbox One are removed from the Warzone experience when the Season 1 integration begins. If your existing progress is associated with one of those consoles, preserve the Activision account and move to a supported platform for continued access to the integrated Warzone experience. The account continuity remains important, but it does not make unsupported hardware compatible.
How to rebuild a legacy loadout correctly
- Open Warzone’s Loadouts menu. Select the Legacy tab rather than looking only in the current weapon list.
- Select the carried-forward weapon or blueprint. Confirm that it belongs to Modern Warfare II, Modern Warfare III, Black Ops 6 or Black Ops 7.
- Review the available attachment slots. Legacy weapons use a five-attachment version.
- Create a new class. Re-enter the weapon, perk, equipment and other choices instead of expecting the old saved custom loadout to appear.
- Do not open Gunsmith expecting the old editor. Legacy weapons and blueprints do not support the previous Gunsmith functionality under the stated rules.
- Save and test the new class in Warzone. If the weapon is visible in Legacy but a specific attachment or appearance is absent, that behavior is consistent with the legacy limitations rather than proof that the entire account transfer failed.
Troubleshooting missing progression or unlocks
| Symptom | Most likely explanation | Action |
|---|---|---|
| The game starts with a blank profile | You signed into a different Activision account or the platform is linked to the wrong one. | Exit, sign in to the original Activision account in Account Management, verify the platform link, then relaunch. |
| The old weapon is not in the normal weapon list | It is a legacy item. | Open Warzone Loadouts and check the Legacy tab. |
| The weapon appears but old attachments are missing | Legacy Gunsmith editing and prior custom loadouts are unsupported. | Recreate the class using the five-attachment legacy version. |
| An operator or blueprint is absent | The current game session may be using a different Activision identity, or the item may not be in a supported carry-forward category. | Verify the account first; do not assume an unlisted camo or item is guaranteed to transfer. |
| You are trying to launch Warzone on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One after Season 1 | Those platforms are removed from the Warzone experience at the transition. | Use a supported platform while keeping the original Activision account. |
| Modern Warfare 4 multiplayer does not show an old rank | Modern Warfare 4 has separate Soldier Rank and weapon progression. | Begin the new game’s progression; account continuity does not convert the old multiplayer rank into the new system. |
If the account and platform links are correct but supported content remains missing, use Activision’s Modern Warfare 4 support hub for account registration, account management, COD Points, installation and connection troubleshooting. Have the affected Activision identity and platform details ready so support can distinguish an account-linking issue from an item that is outside the carry-forward rules.
Examples of how the rules apply
PlayStation 5 to Xbox Series X|S
You played on PlayStation 5 and your operators, skins and blueprints are attached to Activision account A. On Xbox, link the Xbox account to account A and launch Warzone with account A. Supported operators, skins, blueprints and recent legacy weapons can then appear under the Warzone rules. Creating Activision account B on Xbox would separate the new session from those entitlements.
PC move with a legacy weapon
You move from console to PC and see a weapon from Black Ops 6 in Warzone’s Legacy tab. That confirms the weapon is available in the supported legacy area; it does not restore the old saved class or full Gunsmith behavior. Build a new class with the five-attachment limit.
Looking for an old camo in Modern Warfare 4 multiplayer
An old camo is not listed among the clarified carry-forward categories, and Modern Warfare 4 has its own progression systems. The evidence does not support promising that camo in Modern Warfare 4 multiplayer. Continue with the new game’s progression rather than treating its absence as an account-transfer failure.
Quick Recap
Final pre-launch checklist
- Identify the Activision account that owns your existing Call of Duty content.
- Verify every intended PlayStation Network, Xbox, Steam, Battle.net or other supported platform account under that identity.
- Use the same Activision sign-in when launching Modern Warfare 4 and Warzone.
- Move from PlayStation 4 or Xbox One before the Season 1 Warzone transition if you want continued access.
- Check Warzone’s Loadouts and Legacy tab for weapons from Modern Warfare II, Modern Warfare III, Black Ops 6 and Black Ops 7.
- Expect operators, operator skins and blueprints to carry in Warzone when tied to the correct account.
- Do not assume legacy camos, old multiplayer ranks, weapon levels, Gunsmith edits or custom loadouts transfer.
- Recreate legacy classes within the five-attachment limit.
- Start Modern Warfare 4 Soldier Rank, weapon progression, Apex Attachments and Prestige progression as new systems.
