You can move Samsung Notes to an iPhone by exporting notes as files, transferring those files to the iPhone, and sharing them into Apple Notes. Apple does not list Samsung Notes as a category in its Move to iOS transfer, and the documented file workflow does not guarantee conversion into fully editable Apple-native notes.
Can Move to iOS transfer Samsung Notes?
Do not count on it. Apple’s Move from Android to iPhone or iPad guide lists categories such as contacts, messages, photos and videos, files and folders, mail accounts, and calendars; it does not name Samsung Notes as a transfer category. Apple also says books and PDFs need to be moved manually. Move to iOS should not be assumed to import Samsung Notes into Apple Notes automatically.

How to move Samsung Notes to an iPhone
1. Export each note from Samsung Notes
Open a note and use the app’s menu to choose Share or Save as file, then select an available format. Samsung lists Samsung Notes file, PDF, Word, PowerPoint, image, and text as export options in its Samsung Notes export instructions. The exact menu labels and available formats can vary by device model and software version.
2. Choose a format that suits the note
- PDF: Use it when you want a page-oriented visual record, such as a handwritten page. It is a file copy, not a promise that Apple Notes will recreate Samsung’s editable canvas.
- Text: Choose it for written content you want to copy or edit as text. Layout and Samsung-specific features may not carry over.
- Samsung Notes file: Keep this if you want a Samsung-format copy for possible future use. Apple does not document importing it as an Apple Note, so retain the original as a backup.
- Word or PowerPoint: Samsung offers these export formats, but Apple’s cited Notes import guidance does not list them as formats for conversion into native Apple Notes. They may be shared as files or attachments instead.
3. Transfer the exported files to the iPhone
Use a file-transfer method available to you, such as a cloud drive or a computer-mediated transfer. Apple’s Notes guidance explains how to share files from the iPhone’s Files app, but does not prescribe a particular cloud service for moving Samsung Notes exports.

4. Share files from Files into Apple Notes
- On the iPhone, open Files and locate the exported note file.
- Touch and hold the file, then tap Share.
- Choose Notes.
- Save it as a new note or add it to an existing note. Apple says the destination can be iCloud or On My Device.
This is Apple’s documented iPhone route for adding a file to Notes. Depending on the export format, the result may be a file or attachment rather than editable note text. Apple’s instructions are in Import or share notes and files to the Notes app.
If you have a Mac: import supported text files into Notes
Apple documents a separate Notes import flow on Mac for TXT, RTF, RTFD, HTML, ENEX, and Markdown files; the import process can preserve folder structure. This is not a bulk text-import control on iPhone. For an iPhone or iPad, Apple describes sharing a file from Files into Notes instead.

What may not carry over
The official instructions describe exporting and sharing files, but do not promise bulk conversion of a Samsung Notes archive into native Apple Notes. They also do not establish that Samsung formatting, handwriting editability, audio, or other app-specific features will survive. Treat the exported copy as a portable record unless you have confirmed that the particular content remains usable in your chosen app.
