You can transfer data to a OnePlus 15 during Android setup, use OnePlus Clone Phone, restore an existing Google backup, or connect the phones with a compatible data cable during setup. For most people, the setup copy flow or Clone Phone is the simplest direct route. Back up and unlock the old phone first, then check your important files and apps on the OnePlus 15 before erasing the old device.
Choose a transfer method
| Method | Best for | What to know |
|---|---|---|
| Android setup copy | Moving data directly while setting up the OnePlus 15 | Follow the copy option shown on screen. Google notes that steps can vary by device. |
| OnePlus Clone Phone | Wireless migration from an Android phone to a OnePlus | OnePlus says it can transfer data without a network connection, but supported content varies by system and Android version. |
| Google backup restore | When the old phone is unavailable or direct pairing is impractical | You need access to the Google Account and an existing backup. Anything neither backed up nor synced will not be recovered this way. |
| Cable transfer | When you prefer a wired transfer during setup | A cable is optional. Use a compatible cable that supports data, not charging alone; the exact OnePlus 15 port and included cable are not established here. |
Prepare both phones
Before transferring, charge both phones, connect to Wi-Fi, and make sure you can unlock the old Android with its PIN, pattern, or password. Sign in to the Google Account used on the old phone and make a backup. Keep the old phone intact until you have checked the OnePlus 15.

Take extra care with information held inside individual apps. Authenticator credentials, payment cards, encrypted app data, and other account-specific content may require a separate export, backup, or sign-in. Do not assume that copying an app also copies all of its data.
Transfer during OnePlus 15 setup
- Turn on the OnePlus 15 and follow its setup screens until it offers a way to copy apps and data or set up from another Android device.
- Choose the Android copy option if it appears, then follow the pairing prompts on both phones. Unlock the old phone when asked.
- Select the apps and data you want to copy and let the transfer finish. The available screens and wording can vary by device, so follow the prompts displayed on your OnePlus 15 rather than relying on a particular button name.
Google’s Android Help explains the general setup process and warns: “Important: Some of these steps may vary based on your device.”

Transfer with OnePlus Clone Phone
Clone Phone is OnePlus’s migration app. Its listing describes Android-to-OnePlus transfers without a network connection and lists categories such as contacts, SMS, call history, calendar, photos, videos, audio, and apps, including data for certain apps. It does not promise a complete copy of every app or every kind of app data.
- On the OnePlus 15, open Clone Phone and choose the option that identifies it as the new phone.
- Select the source phone type. On the old Android, open or install Clone Phone and choose the old-phone role.
- Use the old phone to scan the QR code displayed by the OnePlus 15, then select the data to transfer and start the migration.
- Keep the phones available while the transfer runs. When it finishes, check the copied content and sign in to apps that require it.
The QR-code pairing method is documented in a OnePlus manual for another model, and OnePlus guidance describes the general process. The exact Clone Phone entry point and labels on the OnePlus 15’s current software have not been established, so use the instructions shown on the devices.

If the old phone cannot be paired, restore during OnePlus 15 setup by signing in with the Google Account used for the backup and selecting the available backup when prompted. This only brings back data that was backed up or synced; it cannot recover items that existed only on the old phone. You will need access to the Google Account and password.
Use a cable if you prefer a wired transfer
OnePlus documents both cable and Android-to-Android Wi-Fi transfer routes. If the OnePlus 15 setup flow offers a cable transfer, connect the phones with a compatible data cable and follow the on-screen instructions to choose what to copy. Confirm that the cable supports data and that the connectors work with both phones; the cable is not required for a wireless transfer.
Check the OnePlus 15 before erasing the old phone
Open the content you rely on rather than checking only whether the transfer reported completion. Review:
- Contacts, messages, and call history
- Photos, videos, audio, downloads, and documents
- Calendar entries and other important personal data
- Critical apps, including whether they contain the information you need
- Authenticator and payment apps, which may need separate setup or verification
Sign in again where needed and confirm that essential files are accessible. Once you are satisfied that the important data is on the OnePlus 15 or safely backed up elsewhere, you can consider resetting the old phone before trade-in or recycling.
