What you need before trading a Riven
Check these requirements before arranging a buyer or seller. Digital Extremes’ Riven trading notice sets a higher Mastery Rank threshold than the general trading rules, so meeting only the general threshold is not enough to trade a Riven.

- Mastery Rank 8 or higher: Digital Extremes announced this Riven-specific requirement in The Remote Observer – Vol. 39 on September 21, 2018.
- General trading eligibility: Digital Extremes’ Trading FAQ & Safe Trading Tips lists Mastery Rank 2 or higher and TennoGuard 2FA as account requirements for trading.
- Enough Credits: Both players need to cover the Credit trade tax. The trade process shows the tax; check the amount before confirming.
- Cross-platform setting, if applicable: For a trade with someone on another platform, enable Cross Platform Play. Platform-specific Platinum restrictions may still apply.
These are layered checks: the general trading baseline does not replace the Riven-specific MR 8 gate. If an account meets the general requirements but cannot offer or accept a Riven, confirm its Mastery Rank and account eligibility first.
It is useful to check eligibility before searching for a buyer, setting up a listing or agreeing to a price. A player may meet the general trade baseline but still fall short of the Riven-specific rank threshold. TennoGuard 2FA is also part of the general trading requirements, so having the required Mastery Rank alone does not establish that the account is ready to trade.

If the other player is on a different platform, settle the platform question before you agree to a Platinum amount. Cross Platform Play is required for cross-platform trades, but currency restrictions may still apply to particular platform combinations. Treat those as separate checks: being able to meet and trade with someone does not automatically mean Platinum can be included.
How to trade a Riven in-game
- Agree on the trade and location. Use a Clan Dojo Trading Post or Maroo’s Bazaar. Make sure you have the correct player and have agreed on the items and any Platinum before opening the trade.
- Open the trade interface. In a Dojo, approach the Trading Post and select the other player. In Maroo’s Bazaar, set up or approach a shop.
- Add the Riven and any other agreed tradeable items. Use the in-game trade window for the entire exchange. Check that the listed Riven is the one you intended to trade.
- Review the complete offer. Check every item and the exact Platinum amount shown in the UI. Digital Extremes warns that the amount confirmed in the trade UI is the amount received. Check the Credit tax as well, and make sure both players can pay it.
- Ready and confirm only after checking. Both players must ready and confirm to complete the trade. If anything in the window differs from the agreement, do not confirm; correct the offer or cancel and start again.
The trade window is the authoritative record of what is being exchanged. Do not rely on chat promises, screenshots, or an agreed amount that does not match the final UI.
Before you open the window, make your agreement specific enough to verify: identify the Riven being offered, any additional tradeable items and the Platinum amount, if there is one. This helps both players recognize a mismatch when the offer appears. For an unveiled Riven, compare the visible stats in the offer against the Riven you discussed. For a veiled one, make sure the state itself is understood, since its stats have not been revealed.

Once the trade window is open, take the review in order rather than accepting a familiar-looking offer at a glance. Check the Riven first, then any other items, then the displayed Platinum. Finally, look at the Credit tax and make sure both accounts can pay it. The game’s interface shows the terms being completed; a prior conversation does not change what the interface lists.
If either player changes the offer, review the complete set of slots again. Do not assume the rest of the offer is unchanged or that an earlier check still applies. If the item, amount or tax does not match what you expect, stop before confirming. Correct the offer or cancel and arrange a new one. Both players have to ready and confirm for the trade to complete.
Which Riven states can be traded?
Digital Extremes’ Veilbreaker: Update 32 describes three Riven states as tradeable. The distinctions matter because a Riven can be traded before or after its challenge has been revealed, and an unveiled Riven displays its stats.

These descriptions come from Update 32, not a current exhaustive specification of every later change. If a particular Riven or state behaves differently in-game, check the latest Warframe patch notes rather than assuming the 2022 update covers every later mechanic.

When discussing a trade, say whether the Riven is unrevealed, veiled or unveiled rather than using “Riven” as if every listing described the same thing. The state changes what the other player can inspect before the exchange: unveiled Rivens have visible stats, while a veiled Riven’s stats have not yet been revealed. For a newly acquired “???” Riven, Update 32 specifically says that equipping it reveals its challenge and makes it use a Riven slot.
That is a useful distinction for both sides, but it does not create a universal price rule. The documented tradeability of a state tells you that it can be traded; it does not say how much more or less it should cost. Compare only like with like where possible, and be explicit about the state when asking for or evaluating an offer.
How to find a buyer or seller
You can arrange a trade with another player directly, or use an unofficial listing service to find offers. Riven.market describes listing and offer functions; rivens.wf describes a fan-made catalogue and trading board. Neither is Digital Extremes’ in-game trade interface: the actual exchange still takes place in Warframe.
Treat a listing as an invitation to discuss an offer, not proof of a sale or a guaranteed market price. Verify the item, platform compatibility, and final terms with the other player, then complete the transaction only through the game’s trade window.

Update 44, published in 2026, says Trade Chat is hidden from players below MR 2. That visibility threshold is separate from the Riven-specific MR 8 trade requirement: seeing or using a chat channel does not establish that an account can trade Rivens.
A listing service can help you locate another player or compare what sellers are asking, but it is not a substitute for checking the account requirements and completing the trade in Warframe. The services named here are third-party resources: Riven.market identifies itself as unofficial, and rivens.wf describes itself as a fan-made catalogue and trading board. They are not Digital Extremes’ trade system, and a listing on one does not guarantee that the seller is available, that the offer will be accepted, or that a transaction took place.
If you are listing a Riven, make the description clear enough for a potential buyer to compare it: identify the weapon and its state, and show the stats if they are unveiled. If you are responding to a listing, confirm that the Riven and terms still match before entering the game trade. A listing is an asking offer, not a completed-sale record, so use it as a starting point for discussion rather than as proof of the item’s final value.

Trade Chat is another point where eligibility can be misunderstood. Update 44 says the channel is hidden from players below MR 2, but that is a visibility threshold for Trade Chat, not permission to trade Rivens at MR 2. The Riven-specific requirement remains MR 8 or higher in the published rule described above.
How to compare Riven offers and price one
There is no verified universal Riven price or market-wide average established by the sources reviewed. A listing is an asking price, not evidence that a completed trade happened at that amount. Compare the particular Rivens and the actual terms rather than relying on one advertised number.
- Weapon: Confirm the Riven is for the weapon you want. Rivens are not interchangeable across weapons.
- Stats and state: For an unveiled Riven, inspect the displayed stats. For a veiled Riven, remember that the stats are not yet shown. Include whether each Riven is veiled or unveiled in any comparison.
- Roll count, where relevant: Note the roll count for the Riven being offered and compare it with the specific listings you are considering. The sources do not establish a fixed numeric price adjustment for roll count.
- Comparable current listings: Look for listings for the same weapon and similar stats and state. Compare multiple current asks if available, but do not treat them as completed-sale data.
- Platform and currency: Confirm the two accounts can trade across their platforms and that the Platinum portion of the offer is permitted for that pairing.
- Final in-game offer: Compare the exact Riven, other items, Platinum amount and Credit tax shown in the trade UI against what you agreed.
These factors help make offers more comparable, but the sources do not provide a stable formula or numeric weight for them. If a seller’s asking price is far from other similar listings, that difference alone does not show whether the price is fair; listings may remain unsold, and the completed trade amount is not established by an asking price.
Start by making sure the items being compared are actually comparable. A listing for the same weapon but a different Riven state or different displayed stats is not a direct match. If one Riven is unveiled and another is veiled, the buyer cannot inspect the latter’s stats in the same way. Likewise, a roll count can be relevant when comparing specific offers, but there is no documented fixed adjustment that turns a particular count into a standard price change.
Use current listings as reference points, not as a price guide with guaranteed outcomes. Several similar asking prices may help show what sellers are requesting at that moment, but none establishes that buyers paid those amounts. The sources reviewed do not provide a completed-sale dataset, average price, trade volume or time-to-sale statistic. Avoid presenting an isolated listing or a few open offers as a market-wide average.
For two specific offers, compare them side by side: weapon, visible stats where available, veiled or unveiled state, roll count where relevant, platform pairing, and the complete in-game terms. If the offers differ, describe the difference rather than assigning an unsupported fixed value to it. Then judge whether the Platinum amount and any other items make sense to you, and verify that the agreed terms are allowed and match the trade UI. There is no reliable shortcut that replaces checking the specific Rivens and the current offer.
As a seller, you can use comparable current listings to decide what to ask, while recognizing that an ask may not attract a buyer or close at that amount. As a buyer, you can use them to frame a counteroffer, but do not treat the lowest or highest visible listing as proof of the Riven’s value. The only amount that matters to the particular transaction is the one both players agree to and confirm in the trade window.

Cross-platform trading and Platinum
Digital Extremes’ Update 37: Koumei & the Five Fates states that Cross Platform Play must be enabled when trading with a player on a different platform. Its notes list MR 2+ and TennoGuard 2FA for PC and Cross Platform Save players, while retaining premium-currency restrictions between some platforms.
Do not assume that Platinum can be traded across every platform pairing. Check the current platform guidance that applies to both accounts before settling on a Platinum offer. If the game does not allow the agreed currency transfer, revise the terms only if both players agree, and verify the revised offer in the trade window before confirming.

If the other player cannot include the Platinum you discussed because of a platform restriction, do not treat a chat agreement as a workaround. You can revise the proposed terms only if both players agree, and the revised items and currency must appear correctly in the game’s trade interface. Check the current platform guidance for the accounts involved rather than assuming a rule from a different platform pairing applies to yours.
Trade safely and avoid common mistakes
- Keep the exchange in the UI. Digital Extremes warns that trading for goods or services not listed in the in-game trade interface can lead to trading restrictions, suspension or a ban. Do not exchange an item or provide a service on the strength of an off-interface promise.
- Use eligible Platinum. Digital Extremes says only purchased Platinum is eligible to be traded. Do not assume all Platinum balances are tradeable.
- Check the displayed amount, not a chat message. The amount confirmed in the trade UI is the amount received. If it is wrong, stop and correct it before confirming.
- Check tax before readiness. Both players need sufficient Credits for the trade tax. If either player cannot pay, the trade cannot be completed on the agreed terms.
- Do not rush a changed offer. Recheck every slot after either player edits the offer. Confirm only when the final items and currency match the agreement.
“Keeping the exchange in the UI” means the actual items and currency being traded must be listed in the game’s interface. Do not rely on a separate promise to provide an unlisted item or service later. Digital Extremes warns that trading for goods or services not listed there can result in trading restrictions, suspension or a ban. This applies even if both players appear to agree in chat: the safe transaction is the one completed through the supported trade interface.
Also distinguish tradeable Platinum from a balance that is not eligible for trading. Digital Extremes’ general safe-trading guidance says only purchased Platinum is eligible to be traded. Do not assume that every Platinum balance can be offered, and do not promise an amount outside the UI. The final trade window is where both players can check whether the intended currency amount is actually part of the exchange.

What changed in Update 44
Digital Extremes’ Update 44: Iceblade of Narin, published in 2026, says Riven Trait Locking is live and describes Riven Splicing as coming in a later update at that time. The notes also say Trade Chat is hidden below MR 2. Because the update characterized Splicing as future content, do not assume it is available based on those notes alone; check the current in-game state and later patch notes if it affects your trade decision.
For a trading guide, the practical distinction is between a feature described as live and one described as planned for a later update. Update 44 identifies Trait Locking as live, but describes Riven Splicing as future content at the time those notes were published. If a trade decision depends on Splicing, verify the current game state and later notes instead of treating that earlier description as confirmation that the feature is available now. The same caution applies to any state-specific mechanic: use the latest official notes when a later change could affect a particular Riven.
