Palworld does not use a conventional player-to-player trade window. To give a Pal to a friend, either drop the Pal’s Sphere while both of you are in the same multiplayer world, or share a Palbox through a Guild. The direct drop is fastest; the Guild route is better when you want shared storage and a more deliberate handoff.
Playing with friends? Godlike.Host runs hosted Palworld servers from 10 data-center locations, with free DDoS protection.
For transfers between separate worlds, use the Global Palbox when your current build and server settings support it. That feature is designed to move Pal data between worlds, rather than to replace the same-world pickup method.

What “trading” means in Palworld
The documented multiplayer exchange is a handoff, not a negotiated trade. There is no normal interface where two players place Pals into opposing slots, review a confirmation screen, and accept a transaction. Instead, one player makes a Pal available and the other player takes it.
That distinction affects how you plan the exchange. A direct drop creates a physical Pal Sphere in the world, so timing and location matter. A Guild handoff uses shared Palbox access, so permissions and trust matter. The Global Palbox works at a different scope: it stores Pal data and can transfer Pals between worlds when enabled by the current game build and settings.

Choose the method before you move the Pal out of your Party. If you are standing together in one world and want the quickest exchange, use a Sphere drop. If you want a shared-storage workflow, or you are organizing several Pals, use a Guild Palbox. If the recipient is in another world, investigate the Global Palbox instead of trying to create a same-world drop.
Quick comparison of the available methods
| Method | Speed | Access control | Interception risk | World scope | Trust needed |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Direct Pal Sphere drop | Fastest for one Pal | Choose a quiet or private location | Higher in a public area because nearby players can pick up the Sphere | Both players must be in the same multiplayer world | Friend must be ready to pick up the correct Sphere |
| Guild Palbox handoff | Slower to set up, practical for repeated sharing | Controlled by Guild membership and access to the Palbox | Lower chance of a random passer-by taking a physical drop, but Guild members can access the shared Palbox | The shared Guild world and its Palbox | Only invite people you trust with shared storage |
| Global Palbox | Depends on opening the storage and moving data | Uses the feature’s Guild and privacy settings | Not a public ground drop; access follows the Palbox settings | Designed to transfer Pal data between worlds | Depends on who can access the Global Palbox in that build and configuration |
The first two methods are the practical choices for a same-world exchange. The third is a cross-world storage feature, and its exact behavior can change with patches, server configuration, or privacy settings.

Before you start: requirements and a safe setup
- For a direct drop: both players must be connected to the same multiplayer world, and the giver must have the Pal in the Party.
- For a Guild Palbox: both players must belong to the same Guild and have access to a Palbox in that shared world.
- For the Global Palbox: use a build that includes the feature and confirm that the relevant world, Guild, and privacy settings allow access.
- For any method: agree on which Pal is changing hands before you move it. Check the Pal’s name, level, traits, equipment, and current Party position so you do not select the wrong one.
For a direct handoff, move away from busy public areas, spawn points, and places where several players are gathering. A dropped Sphere is exposed to nearby players. Tell your friend to stand close, stop moving, and wait for your confirmation before you press the drop command.
If the Pal is carrying something important or is assigned to an active task, remove it from that role first. The game’s handoff steps concern the Pal itself; they do not provide a separate checklist for work assignments, so treating the transfer as a simple “drop and forget” can leave your base in an unexpected state.
Method 1: drop a Pal Sphere directly to a friend
This is the quickest method when you are together in one multiplayer world. The giver places the Pal in the Party, uses the platform’s drop command, and lets the recipient pick up the resulting Sphere.
Step 1: Join the same multiplayer world
Have both players enter the same world session. A friend who is merely online, but in a different world, cannot collect a Sphere from your current location. Confirm that you can see one another in the world before opening the Party menu.

Step 2: Put the Pal in the giver’s Party
Open your Party and move the Pal you intend to give into a Party slot. The drop command applies to a Pal in the Party; a Pal left only in storage is not the target of this direct-drop workflow.
Step 3: Select the Pal and drop it on PC
- Press P to open the Party menu.
- Select the Pal you want to give.
- Press R to drop it.
- Confirm that the Pal Sphere appears on the ground before moving away.
The Sphere is now a world object that another player can pick up. Keep your friend beside it and avoid opening the drop menu repeatedly, which can make it unclear which Sphere is the intended one.
Step 4: Use the Party menu and guide prompt on Xbox
On Xbox, open the controller Party menu, highlight the Pal, and use the drop command shown by the on-screen control guide. The exact button prompt can change with controller layouts or patches, so follow the command displayed in your current build instead of relying on a remembered button from an older guide.
After the drop, verify that the Sphere is visible. If no Sphere appears, check that you highlighted the Pal rather than another Party action and repeat the command only after confirming the first attempt did not create an object.

Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Step 5: Have the recipient pick up the Sphere
The friend should interact with the dropped Pal Sphere to collect it. Keep other players away until the pickup is complete; a nearby player can reach the Sphere first in a public area. Ask the recipient to open their Party or inventory afterward and verify that the Pal arrived before either of you disconnects.
How to make a direct drop safer
Use a private or quiet location
A secluded base area, a locked session, or another place without random traffic reduces the chance of interception. The direct method does not reserve the Sphere for a named recipient. Anyone who can reach it may be able to pick it up.

Coordinate the timing
Use voice or text chat to confirm three moments: the giver has selected the correct Pal, the recipient is standing beside the drop point, and the recipient has completed the pickup. Do not drop while the friend is loading, fighting, or moving through a crowded camp.
Check the result before leaving
A successful visual pickup is not the only useful check. The recipient should inspect the Party entry and verify the Pal’s identity and level. The giver should also confirm that the Pal is no longer in the original Party slot. If either side cannot verify the result, stay in the world and resolve it before attempting another transfer.
Method 2: share a Pal through a Guild Palbox
The Guild method avoids leaving a Sphere on the ground. It uses a Palbox that both players can access through Guild membership. This is useful when you are already working together in a base or when you want to move several Pals in an orderly way.
Step 1: Join the same Guild
Invite the recipient to your Guild, or join the recipient’s Guild, so both accounts have access to the shared storage. Do not use this route with someone you would not trust around your other stored Pals: Guild access is broader than a one-time physical handoff.
Step 2: Open an accessible Palbox
Use a Palbox that the Guild can access in the shared world. If the box is blocked, restricted, or belongs to a different access context, move to a Palbox that both players can open before attempting the transfer.
Step 3: Move the Pal from the Party into the Palbox
The giver opens the Palbox interface and moves the selected Pal from the Party into storage. Check the Pal’s portrait, name, and slot before confirming. Leave the Pal in the Palbox until the recipient is ready rather than moving it back and forth while the other player is searching.

Step 4: Let the recipient move it into their Party
The recipient opens the same shared Palbox, selects the transferred Pal, and moves it into an available Party slot. If the Party is full, make room first. The recipient should then close the interface and verify that the Pal is present in the Party.
Step 5: Remove unnecessary Guild access
If the Guild was created only for this exchange, review its membership after the transfer. Leaving a player in the Guild means that person may retain access to shared Palbox contents and other Guild resources. The Guild method is safer than a public drop from an interception perspective, but it is not a single-Pal permission grant.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Using the Global Palbox between worlds
Pocketpair’s Crossplay Update v0.5.0 describes the Global Palbox as a place to “Store Pal data in the Global Palbox and transfer Pals between worlds!” The announcement also says Guild members can access it and that it can function as personal storage with private settings.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsThis makes the Global Palbox the relevant option when the giver and recipient are not standing in the same world. It is not the same operation as dropping a Sphere beside a friend: you place Pal data into the global storage system, then access that storage from the destination world or account context allowed by the current settings.
Check availability first
Feature names, permissions, and access behavior can depend on the game build and server configuration. Open the current Palbox interface and look for the Global Palbox entry. If it is missing, disabled, or restricted, update the game or check the host’s settings before moving a Pal out of local storage.
Review Guild and privacy controls
The official description includes Guild access and private-storage settings. Decide whether the Pal should be visible to Guild members or kept personal. A shared setting can be convenient for a group, but it also broadens who can see and move stored Pals.
Best Value
Transfer and verify in the destination world
Place the Pal data into the Global Palbox, enter the destination world, and open the same feature there. Move the Pal into the destination Party or local Palbox only after confirming that the displayed Pal is the intended one. Because the feature’s details can change between builds, rely on the labels and prompts shown by your current game rather than assuming every server handles it identically.
Which method should you use?
Choose a direct drop when speed matters
Use the Sphere method for a one-off gift when both players are already together. It has the fewest setup steps and does not require changing Guild membership. Its trade-off is exposure: the Sphere is physically available to anyone who can reach it.
Choose a Guild Palbox when organization matters
Use the Palbox method for repeated transfers, base projects, or a group that already shares a Guild. It keeps the Pal inside storage instead of on the ground, but every person with relevant Guild access may be able to interact with that storage.
Choose the Global Palbox for a cross-world move
Use the Global Palbox when the destination is another world and the feature is enabled. It is the only method in this guide designed specifically for moving Pal data between worlds. Treat its privacy and Guild settings as part of the transfer, not as optional details.
Troubleshooting failed or missing transfers
The drop command does nothing
- Confirm the Pal is in the giver’s Party, not only in a Palbox.
- Make sure the correct Party entry is highlighted before pressing the drop command.
- On Xbox, read the current on-screen guide prompt; a changed layout or patch may place the command elsewhere.
- Check that the game has not opened another interaction menu or that the player is not in a state that blocks Party actions.
The recipient cannot see or pick up the Sphere
- Verify both players are in the same multiplayer world and have not been separated by a connection or loading transition.
- Look around the exact drop location; the Sphere may have landed slightly away from the giver.
- Move to a clear area and try again only after confirming no other player collected it.
- Ask the recipient to approach and interact directly with the Sphere instead of searching through a Party menu.
The Guild Palbox does not show the Pal
- Confirm both players are members of the same Guild.
- Use a Palbox that the Guild can access in that world.
- Check that the giver completed the move from Party into storage rather than merely selecting the Pal.
- Have the recipient close and reopen the Palbox interface, then look for the Pal by name and portrait.
The Global Palbox is unavailable
Check the game version, host settings, Guild permissions, and privacy configuration. The Global Palbox is a feature whose exact behavior depends on the current build and settings. Do not assume that a local Palbox or a same-world Sphere drop can substitute for a disabled cross-world feature.

Limits and risks to remember
- No dedicated trade confirmation: neither same-world method gives you a two-party review screen, so verify the Pal manually before and after the handoff.
- Public-drop exposure: a direct Sphere can be picked up by another nearby player. This is the main risk of the fastest method.
- Guild-wide trust: a Guild Palbox is shared access, not a private escrow box for one recipient.
- Same-world requirement for direct drops: a friend in another world cannot collect a Sphere that you dropped in yours.
- Patch and settings changes: controls, labels, permissions, and Global Palbox behavior can change after updates. Follow the prompts in the current build.
A practical exchange checklist
- Identify the exact Pal by name, portrait, level, and Party slot.
- Decide whether the exchange is a direct drop, Guild Palbox handoff, or Global Palbox transfer.
- For a direct drop, confirm both players are in the same world and move to a quiet location.
- For a Guild handoff, confirm both players have the intended Guild and Palbox access.
- For a Global Palbox transfer, check that the feature is available and review privacy settings.
- Move the Pal using the platform-specific prompt: P, select the Pal, then R on PC; use the current Party-menu guide on Xbox.
- Have the recipient pick up the Sphere or move the Pal into their Party.
- Verify the Pal appears on the recipient’s side before disconnecting or leaving the area.
- Remove temporary Guild access if the recipient should not retain shared-storage permissions.
Bottom line
To trade a Pal with a friend in Palworld, use a direct Pal Sphere drop for the fastest same-world handoff: place the Pal in your Party, press P, select it, and press R on PC, or follow the Xbox Party-menu drop prompt. Have your friend pick up the Sphere immediately in a quiet area. For a more organized exchange, invite the friend to the same Guild and move the Pal through a shared Palbox. When the players are in different worlds, use the Global Palbox if the current build and privacy settings support cross-world transfer.
