Insomniac’s Support site is the primary archive. Search for the exact version string, including its periods and leading zeroes. For example, search for 1.002.001, not just “Wolverine patch.” Each article identifies what was fixed, added, or still being evaluated. Save the article with your personal update record because the version number is the most reliable way to distinguish a narrow hotfix from a larger update.

Insomniac described this as a hotfix deployed ahead of the global launch. It addressed three specific launch problems:
- English voice-over playback when the console language was not English.
- A Jean Grey mission drop-off problem in Japan.
- A blockage that could leave Logan sliding under a prison door in Telambang.
These fixes illustrate why the region and language in a bug report matter. The voice-over issue depended on the console-language configuration, while the Jean Grey problem was tied to a particular mission location.
v1.001.005 — September 25, 2026
This hotfix targeted a small-percentage crash problem and changed how two sensory overlays appear. Insomniac reported that it:

Insomniac called this the latest update and stated that Marvel’s Wolverine now uses Quick Spectral Super Resolution (QSSR) on PS5 for improved image detail and image stability. QSSR was enabled by default.
The same update included fixes across several groups:
- Presentation: UI, Photo Mode, out-of-bounds situations, and general visual polish.
- Progression: blockers that could prevent a player from advancing.
- Stability: additional crash fixes.
- Accessibility: behavior involving Navigation Assist, Lock-On, High Contrast, and Screen Reader features.

PlayStation’s FAQ distinguishes the two consoles: post-launch PS5 software was patched to use QSSR, while enhanced PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) support was available on PS5 Pro from launch. How to identify the hotfix installed on your PS5
- Confirm the game platform. The title is supported on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 5 Pro consoles. Record which console you are using because the image-reconstruction notes differ between them.
- Check the installed game version. Highlight Marvel’s Wolverine on the PS5 home screen, open the game’s Options menu, and use the update or information command shown for your installation. After an update completes, the title screen or game-information panel should display the installed version.
- Compare every digit. Match the displayed string against 1.001.005, 1.002.000, or 1.002.001. Do not treat 1.002.000 and 1.002.001 as interchangeable when a support article names one specifically.
- Check for a pending download. If the console reports that the game is current but the version is older than the note you are reading, restart the PS5, reconnect to the internet, and run the game’s Check for Update command again. A download that has not finished cannot change the installed version.
- Reopen the game after installation. Quit the running application before checking the version again. A suspended game can continue running its previous code until it is closed and relaunched.
Menu wording can vary slightly with the PS5 system software and whether the game is installed from a disc or downloaded. The version shown by the game itself is the value to record, not the date on which you noticed the download.
How to keep a reliable patch log
A useful log separates what has shipped from what is planned or under evaluation. For each entry, record:
- Version: preserve the exact punctuation and zeroes, such as
1.002.001. - Publication timestamp: use the date and, when the article provides it, the time zone and time.

Keeping the source and status beside the version prevents a future plan from being mistaken for a shipped option.

Scent Trails or Audio Sense still look too strong
Version 1.001.005 reduced the opacity of both indicators. Version 1.002.001 added a toggle specifically for story-related Scent Trails, assigned to R3 by default through the Hint button. Confirm that 1.002.001 is installed, then test the Hint-button control in a story area. Audio Sense indicators and story-related Scent Trails are related Senses features, but the new toggle is described for story-related Scent Trails; it should not be assumed to remove every sensory indicator.
The game still crashes
Insomniac addressed a small-percentage crash issue in 1.001.005 and additional community-reported crashes in 1.002.001. Record the exact version, mission, location, console model, language settings, and what happened immediately before the crash. That information distinguishes a previously addressed symptom from a new report and gives support staff reproducible context.
A progression blocker remains
Update 1.002.000 included progression fixes, while the launch hotfix addressed the Jean Grey mission drop-off in Japan and the Logan prison-door blockage in Telambang. Verify the installed version before replaying the section. If the issue is different, document the mission name, objective text, save point, and whether restarting the checkpoint changes the result.

Voice-over or localization behaves incorrectly
The launch-day hotfix fixed English voice-over playback when the console language was not English. Update 1.002.000 also included localization fixes. When reporting a language problem, list the console language, spoken-language setting, subtitle language, and whether the problem affects all scenes or one mission.

Accessibility controls do not behave as expected
Update 1.002.000 specifically addressed Navigation Assist, Lock-On, High Contrast, and Screen Reader behavior. Check those controls after installing the update rather than assuming a visual or audio symptom is a hardware fault. The game includes more than 100 new, returning, and improved accessibility features, according to an August 28, 2026 PlayStation Blog feature. Insomniac’s accessibility information says the features are included on the disc and through the first update at launch.
Understanding the accessibility and technology notes
Patch tracking is more useful when categories are kept separate. A crash fix changes stability; a Scent-trail toggle changes control; QSSR changes image reconstruction; and a Screen Reader correction changes accessibility behavior. A single update can contain all of these without making them the same kind of change.
Examples of the broader accessibility set include lock-on behavior, Navigation Assist, adjustable game speed, sprint modes, audio description, visual filters, subtitle controls, and other motor, visual, and audio options. The “over 100+” figure is a published description of the feature count, not a promise that every option was introduced in one October patch.
Likewise, QSSR and PSSR should be logged as technology notes rather than as ordinary visual-polish fixes. The October 6 note says QSSR is on by default on PS5. PlayStation’s FAQ says enhanced PSSR support was available on PS5 Pro from launch. Recording the console model alongside the version avoids attributing a PS5 Pro launch capability to the later PS5 update.

How to compare two Wolverine updates accurately
- Compare the version and date first. A higher number is not enough if the publication dates differ or if one note is a follow-up hotfix.
- Classify the scope. A hotfix normally targets a narrow crash, blocker, or control issue; a numbered feature update can also change rendering, accessibility, localization, and visual behavior.
- Separate shipped changes from plans. “Fixed” and “added” describe the current build. “Under evaluation” describes work that was being considered, not a setting you can necessarily use.
- Check the platform context. PS5 QSSR behavior and PS5 Pro PSSR support are not interchangeable descriptions.
- Match the symptom to a category. Use crash, progression, visuals, accessibility, localization, or controls rather than writing a vague note such as “game improved.”
This method prevents a common tracking error: reading the 1.001.005 note about evaluating Senses toggles and assuming that the toggle was already present, or reading the QSSR statement and applying it without checking which console is involved.

A practical monitoring routine
When you start playing
Write down the launch date, console model, installed version, console language, spoken-language setting, and any accessibility options you rely on. This creates a baseline for diagnosing a later change.
When Insomniac announces a patch
Open the corresponding Support article, copy the exact version and publication date, and classify each bullet as fixed, added, or under evaluation. Then check the PS5-installed version after downloading and relaunching the game.
When a symptom changes after an update
Do not erase the previous entry. Add the new version to the same issue, note whether the symptom disappeared, became less frequent, or changed form, and record the mission or activity where you tested it. This is especially important for crashes and progression blockers, where a partial fix can look different from a complete resolution.
