How to Track Target Prices and Get Deal Alerts

Learn how to set price watches with Amazon, Google Shopping, Chrome, Keepa, and CamelCamelCamel—and how to verify a deal before you buy.
Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

To track a target price, open the exact product listing in a supported shopping service, set a target if the service offers one, and enable its notifications. Start with the retailer’s own tools; use Google Shopping for eligible listings across retailers and Chrome Shopping Insights for price context on supported product pages. When an alert arrives, check the live listing, variant, seller, shipping, and total before buying—prices can change.

Choose a tracker for the store and product

Price trackers differ in what they cover. Amazon’s tools focus on Amazon listings, Google Shopping tracks products shown in its shopping experience, and Chrome Shopping Insights can show context for eligible products across the web. Keepa and CamelCamelCamel are additional Amazon-focused options.

Tool Coverage and history Targets and alerts Availability or limits
Amazon Alexa for Shopping Amazon product pages; history views of 30, 90, and 365 days. Price alerts and optional Auto-Buy at a target threshold. Amazon says history is available in the U.S., UK, Canada, and India. Its page said 365-day views were rolling out in the U.S., UK, and India when checked. Amazon’s feature information says Rufus was renamed Alexa for Shopping on May 13, 2026.
Google Shopping Products available through Google Shopping; tracked product cards may offer variant selection. Optional target price; push notifications and email when the price drops below it. Google lists the U.S., Canada, Australia, Japan, and India. Features may not appear on every device or Google surface. See Google’s price tracking help.
Chrome Shopping Insights Eligible web products; can show price history, price range, and variant context such as color or storage capacity. Price tracking controls may be available on supported products. Google lists Australia, Canada, India, Japan, and the U.S. Sign-in, sync, and opt-in requirements apply. See Chrome Shopping Insights help.
Keepa Amazon price-history charts; the provider says it tracks over 7 billion Amazon products. Advertises price-drop alerts. The cited page does not state a comparable history window or independently verify the provider’s coverage claim. See Keepa.
CamelCamelCamel Amazon price history. Email price watches; also offers the Camelizer browser extension. The cited page does not state a comparable history window. See CamelCamelCamel.

Amazon says more than 50 million customers had checked its price-history feature since launch in 2024 and that the average customer checks it three times a month. These are Amazon-reported usage figures, not independent evidence of savings. Keepa’s product count is likewise its own coverage claim. The cited service pages do not establish comparative alert speed, completeness, or accuracy.

Set up a price watch

  1. Open the exact product listing. Confirm the model and variant—such as size, color, or storage—before tracking. Similar product cards can refer to different configurations.
  2. Check the retailer’s own tracker first. On an eligible Amazon page, open the price-history link or ask Alexa for Shopping about the history. Amazon documents 30-, 90-, and 365-day views; which views are available can depend on rollout and country.
  3. For Google Shopping, sign in and open the product card. Tap Track price, select a variant if offered, optionally set a target price, and confirm. Google says it can send push notifications through the Google app and email when the price falls below your target.
  4. For Chrome, inspect the product page for Shopping Insights or track-price controls. Check that your country and device are supported, then review Google account, tab/history sync, opt-in, and notification settings if the feature is missing.
  5. For an Amazon-only watch, compare Keepa and CamelCamelCamel. Their pages describe price history and alert workflows, but do not provide a basis for ranking their alert latency or independent accuracy.
  6. When an alert arrives, reopen the listing. Verify the current item, variant, seller, stock, shipping, and total price rather than relying on the alert alone.

Set a useful target and avoid false bargains

A target price is a trigger for your attention, not proof that a listing is the best offer. Use the available history to judge whether your target is plausible, then compare the current total and terms across eligible sellers. A low headline price may not include shipping, may apply to a different variant, or may come from a different seller.

Amazon eGift Card - Amazon Logo
  • Amazon.com Gift Cards never expire and carry no fees.
  • Multiple gift card designs and denominations to choose from.
  • Redeemable towards millions of items store-wide at Amazon.com or certain affiliated websites.
  • Available for immediate delivery. Gift cards sent by email can be scheduled up to a year in advance.
  • No returns and no refunds on Gift Cards.
  • Track one exact configuration rather than a broad product family when variants have different prices.
  • Use a target you would actually pay, and revise it if the product, model, or your needs change.
  • At purchase time, check stock and delivery details as well as the price; an alert can outlast the offer that triggered it.
  • Do not treat a deal badge, historical chart, or alert as a guarantee of the lowest available price. The services’ cited pages do not establish comparative price-history accuracy.

Understand Amazon’s Auto-Buy before enabling it

Amazon documents an optional Auto-Buy feature that can complete a purchase when the target threshold is met, using your default payment method. That is different from receiving a notification: enabling it can trigger an actual order. Review the threshold and payment method carefully, and leave Auto-Buy off if you want to inspect the listing and approve each purchase yourself. Details are in Amazon’s price-history and shopping feature information.

Why a tracker may not appear or alert

  • Unsupported country, device, or surface: Google says not all Shopping features are available everywhere or on every device. Check the country lists and requirements on the linked Google and Chrome help pages.
  • Missing account or sync setting: Chrome Shopping Insights has account, sync, and opt-in requirements. Confirm these before assuming a product is ineligible.
  • Wrong product or variant: Reopen the tracked card and make sure it refers to the intended model, color, size, or capacity.
  • Notification not received: Google documents push and email alerts for target-price drops; check that you are signed in and that relevant Google app and email notifications are enabled.
  • Price has changed since the alert: Return to the live listing and verify the current price and terms. Price movement means an alert is not a reservation.

Or skip the browser setup

For developers who need a screenshot of a product listing rather than a price-watch notification, ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server. It does not replace a price tracker or send deal alerts. One GET request can return a screenshot or PDF; this cURL example saves a WebP capture of a listing:
