If a Fluxguard screenshot looks blank, first check whether the saved screenshot is actually empty or whether only the comparison viewer looks wrong. Fluxguard’s side-by-side viewer strips JavaScript and some other resources, so interactive content can look different there. For a genuinely blank or incomplete capture, check Inclusion Filters and exclusions, allow slow pages more time, verify the crawler can reach the page and its assets, then run a fresh crawl and inspect its artifacts.
First determine what is blank
Open the affected page version and compare the archived screenshot with the rendered HTML, extracted text, and network activity. Fluxguard says its initial crawl records these artifacts, which help distinguish an empty capture from a display or asset-loading problem. Its capture uses headless Google Chrome and runs page JavaScript; the comparison view is a separate display.

Fluxguard’s comparison and version views load captured HTML in iframes and remove JavaScript and some other resources. As a result, interactive areas may appear differently or fail to open in the viewer even when the saved capture contains useful data. Check the screenshot for the exact version before changing capture settings. If content is hidden only in the viewer, Fluxguard says Viewer Helper CSS can force some areas to stay open; find it at Session Settings → General → Advanced. Check Inclusion Filters and selectors
If the blank result is associated with an Inclusion Filter, Fluxguard’s documented interpretation is that no filter matched. Either the selector is misconfigured, or the target area is absent from the page. Inspect the affected page in browser developer tools and verify that the intended element exists and matches the configured selector.

Make selectors resilient
- Prefer a short selector tied to a stable identifier or class over a long chain of parent and child elements.
- Check for changes to the page’s layout, class names, or markup that could have invalidated the selector.
- Save the change and manually run a new crawl to verify the selected area appears.
Fluxguard warns that deeply nested selectors can break when page scaffolding changes. Its filter guide covers Inclusion Filters and selector configuration.
Review exclusions and blocked resources
Exclusion Filters remove matching areas from the DOM before capture. That is different from Selector Ignores, which operate after capture for HTML comparisons: ignored content remains in the captured page but is excluded from change evaluation. If the page became blank or incomplete after a configuration change, review recent Exclusion Filter and network-block changes for the page or session.

In particular, removing script tags can prevent scripts from executing and stop the page from fully rendering. Also check whether a filter or block rule removes other content the page needs, such as stylesheets, images, or application resources. Fluxguard discusses the effect of script exclusions in its product updates.

Fluxguard notes that its automatic timing techniques can be imperfect for slow or complex sites. If pages in the session generally need longer to render, open Session Settings → Crawl → Advanced and adjust “Wait Before Capturing.” Fluxguard documents up to nine additional seconds, before or after other actions.

If only one page needs extra time, add a page-level Wait action in Page View instead. After saving either change, manually initiate a crawl and inspect the new version. See Fluxguard’s guide to waiting longer before capture for the documented settings.
Check whether the crawler can reach the page
A firewall, bot-control system, authentication requirement, or other access restriction may prevent a crawler from loading the page or its required resources. Check that the crawler is allowed through the site’s access controls, and confirm that the capture is reaching the same page and assets a normal visitor can reach. Fluxguard provides a set-up tutorials page that includes crawler-whitelisting guidance. This is a diagnostic possibility, not a confirmed cause for any particular blank capture.

Verify the fix with a fresh crawl
- Save the filter, timing, or access change you made.
- Manually start a new crawl for the affected page or session.
- Open the new archived screenshot for that version, rather than relying only on the comparison viewer.
- Compare its rendered HTML, extracted text, and network activity with the previous version to see whether the issue is an empty capture, missing content, or a resource-loading problem.
