To track JST burns reliably, monitor Transfer events for the TRC-20 contract TCFLL5dx5ZJdKnWuesXxi1VPwjLVmWZZy9, flag transfers to documented burn addresses, and keep two separate statuses: an early chain-head detection and a confirmed or solidified result. A transfer to an inaccessible address is evidence of an irreversible movement, not automatic proof that JST totalSupply decreased.

This guide shows how to identify the correct token, backfill historical burns with TronGrid, build continuous alerts, verify each transaction in TRONSCAN, and reconcile your totals with JustLend’s published buyback records.

What JST burn transaction tracking actually measures

JST is a TRC-20 token on TRON. Its documented contract address is TCFLL5dx5ZJdKnWuesXxi1VPwjLVmWZZy9, and its maximum supply is 9,900,000,000 JST. Use the contract address as your primary identifier; searching for the ticker alone can mix JST with unrelated assets that use the same symbol.

A tracker normally observes token contract events, not a special blockchain-wide “burn” flag. For JST, the basic signal is an ERC-20-style Transfer event whose destination is an address that no one controls. Your system should therefore describe the first result as an observed burn transfer, then upgrade it to an accounting-grade result only after the transaction is confirmed or solidified and any contract-level burn evidence has been checked.

Why a transfer to a burn address may not reduce supply

TRON’s FAQ explains that tokens sent to a burn address usually become inaccessible, but this does not necessarily reduce totalSupply. The distinction matters because a token contract can leave the supply counter unchanged when it merely transfers tokens to an unusable address. A genuine supply reduction requires the token contract to execute burn logic that decreases its supply accounting.

Destination-based evidence

A destination match proves that JST moved to an address intended to be inaccessible. It is useful for fast alerts and for tracking buyback programs that deliberately send tokens to a burn destination. It does not, by itself, prove that the contract’s totalSupply changed.

Contract-level evidence

Evidence is stronger when the transaction invokes a documented burn function or emits a burn-specific event, and when the resulting token state reflects a lower supply. Record that evidence separately from the plain transfer. If no burn function or burn event is present, retain the destination-based classification and avoid presenting it as a measured supply reduction.

Documented JST burn destinations

Start your address set with TRON’s documented Base58 burn addresses:

  • T9yD14Nj9j7xAB4dbGeiX9h8unkKHxuWwb
  • T9yD14Nj9j7xAB4dbGeiX9h8unkKLxmGkn
  • T9yD14Nj9j7xAB4dbGeiX9h8unkKT76qbH
  • T9yD14Nj9j7xAB4dbGeiX9h8upfCg3PBbY

Keep the qualification in your alert text: “JST transfer observed to a documented uncontrolled address; supply reduction requires contract-level confirmation.” Do not silently treat every transfer to an arbitrary dead-looking address as a burn. Add a new destination only when you can establish that it is intentionally uncontrolled and relevant to the JST program.

What the JustLend buyback records show

JustLend’s tokenomics materials describe a buyback program that sends purchased JST to a burn address. The listed rounds are:

Round JST sent to burn address How to use the figure
Round 1 559,890,753 JST Compare with the corresponding on-chain transfers after confirmation.
Round 2 525,000,000 JST Added to round 1, the published total is 1,084,890,753 JST.
Round 3 271,337,579 JST Keep separate until the relevant transactions are identified and finalized.

The official Q4 2025 report records 1,084,890,753 JST — JustLend DAO, 2026, equal to 10.96% of total supply after the first two cycles. Treat that as a published program figure and reconcile it against finalized transaction records rather than assuming it is a live, continuously updated blockchain balance. JustLend states that buyback and burn records are disclosed through official channels and on-chain logs.

Step 1: Pin the correct JST contract

  1. Set TCFLL5dx5ZJdKnWuesXxi1VPwjLVmWZZy9 as the only token contract accepted by your JST burn detector.
  2. Store the address in a configuration value rather than relying on a ticker lookup at runtime.
  3. When displaying a result, show the contract address beside the JST symbol so a reviewer can distinguish the asset from same-ticker tokens.
  4. Keep the network fixed to TRON mainnet in the service configuration and reject events from another chain or an unexpected contract.

Step 2: Define the event and destination filters

The event to index is Transfer. Where the API supports an event-signature filter, use Transfer(address,address,uint256). The signature identifies the indexed and non-indexed parameters that must be decoded.

Apply both filters together:

  • contract_address equals the JST contract.
  • event_name equals Transfer.
  • to equals one of the documented burn addresses.

For historical accounting, request confirmed events with only_confirmed=true where that parameter is available. Add a block-range or timestamp constraint so a backfill can be restarted in bounded windows.

Step 3: Backfill historical JST burn transfers with TronGrid

TronGrid’s V1 contract-events endpoint is suitable for indexed historical searches. Supply the JST contract as the contract filter, request the Transfer event, and apply the confirmation and range filters. The response includes decoded event parameters and a fingerprint cursor for pagination.

Fields to retain for every event

  • Transaction ID: the immutable identifier used for deduplication and manual review.
  • Event index: needed when one transaction contains more than one matching event.
  • Block number and block timestamp: the chain position and time used in reports.
  • From and to addresses: retain the original Base58 values used by the event response.
  • Raw value: preserve the integer exactly as returned by the contract event.
  • Display amount: convert the raw value using the JST token’s configured decimals; do not guess the decimals or round the raw integer away.
  • Confirmation or solidification state: record whether the event is merely observed or finalized.
  • Explorer reference: retain the TRONSCAN transaction or contract-events view used for review.

Paginate without changing the query

  1. Run the first request with your fixed contract, event, confirmation, and block or time filters.
  2. Save every returned event using transaction ID plus event index as the unique key.
  3. Read the response’s fingerprint cursor.
  4. Request the next page with that fingerprint and the same filters.
  5. Continue until no next fingerprint is returned.
  6. Persist the last completed cursor and range boundary so a failed job can resume without duplicating records.

Changing the event, date range, or confirmation setting while reusing a cursor can produce gaps or inconsistent pages. Start a new pagination run whenever those filters change.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Step 4: Classify each candidate

Use a classification field instead of a single Boolean “burn” flag:

Classification Required evidence Recommended use
Observed burn transfer JST Transfer to a documented uncontrolled address. Immediate notification and pending dashboard totals.
Confirmed burn transfer The same event is confirmed or solidified. Accounting, reports, and public cumulative totals.
Contract burn evidence A burn function or burn-specific event is present, with the relevant state change checked. Stronger claim that token supply accounting was reduced.
Unclassified transfer Transfer does not match a documented destination or lacks sufficient decoding. Investigation queue; do not count as a burn.

A candidate can carry more than one attribute. For example, a finalized transfer may still be destination-based only if no burn function or burn event is found.

Step 5: Set continuous on-chain alerts

Polling a hosted event index

A small service can poll the TronGrid events endpoint on a schedule. Keep a time or block cursor, request only new events, and deduplicate by transaction ID plus event index. Polling is simple to deploy, but latency depends on the interval and the indexer’s availability and rate limits.

Using a lower-latency event path

For faster notifications or higher volume, TRON documents several event paths: TronGrid HTTPS, TronWeb, FullNode ZeroMQ, and self-hosted plugins. These options differ in operational effort and how much control you have over retention, filtering, and replay.

Two-state alert delivery

Send two notifications for the same event rather than one ambiguous message:

  1. Detected: the event appears at the chain head. This state is useful for rapid awareness and should be labeled provisional.
  2. Finalized: the same transaction is confirmed or solidified. Use this state for accounting and public totals.

TRON’s API guidance distinguishes broadcast, inclusion, execution result, and solidified state. Your monitor should not collapse those stages into a single “success” value.

Suggested alert payload

Include the following in email, webhook, chat, or dashboard output:

  • State: detected or finalized.
  • Token: JST and the full contract address.
  • Transaction ID and event index.
  • Block number and timestamp.
  • From address and matched burn destination.
  • Raw token value and the converted JST amount.
  • Statement that the destination is uncontrolled and whether contract-level burn evidence was found.
  • Explorer reference for manual review.

Implementation choices: hosted indexer, library, or node infrastructure

Approach Latency Historical backfill Finality handling Operations and cost
TronGrid HTTPS polling Polling interval plus indexer delay. Convenient indexed history with fingerprint pagination. Use confirmation filters and a second finalized pass. Low infrastructure burden; subject to API quotas and availability.
TronWeb Suitable for application-level monitoring; depends on the connected event source. Can query through the configured TRON connection, but you must design replay and storage. Implement explicit detected and finalized states. Moderate coding effort; still requires endpoint operations.
FullNode ZeroMQ Lower-latency node-side delivery. Usually requires a separate historical backfill strategy. Combine live events with solidification checks. Requires node access and operational monitoring.
Self-hosted plugin Control over delivery timing and filtering. You control retention and replay. Implement your own confirmation and recovery logic. Highest operations workload, but maximum control.

The practical choice depends on whether you need occasional reports or a continuously available alerting service. Hosted indexing is generally the quickest way to search history; node-based paths become more attractive when latency, retention, or independence from a hosted quota is more important than simplicity.

How to verify a burn before publishing a total

  1. Open the transaction in TRONSCAN’s JST contract-events view.
  2. Confirm that the contract address is TCFLL5dx5ZJdKnWuesXxi1VPwjLVmWZZy9.
  3. Check that the decoded event is Transfer, then compare the displayed from, to, and value with your stored record.
  4. Verify that the destination exactly matches the intended burn address, including every character.
  5. Check the transaction’s confirmation or solidification state.
  6. Inspect the transaction’s contract calls and logs for a protocol burn function or burn-specific event.
  7. Retain the transaction ID, event index, block data, and review timestamp in your audit record.
  8. Only then add the amount to your finalized cumulative total.

For program-level reporting, compare your finalized sum with JustLend’s transparency materials and round records. A difference can indicate an incomplete backfill, an unfinalized transaction, a duplicate, a decimals-conversion error, or a published figure that covers a different reporting boundary.

Common failure modes and fixes

The ticker search returns unrelated tokens

Cause: symbols are not unique. Fix: filter by the documented JST contract address and display that address in every internal and external report.

A transfer is counted twice

Cause: the same transaction was received on two polling cycles or appears on multiple pages. Fix: deduplicate on transaction ID plus event index, not amount or timestamp alone.

The cursor produces missing or repeated pages

Cause: pagination filters changed, or the cursor was not persisted correctly. Fix: keep all filters unchanged while following a fingerprint; restart from a new range when any filter changes.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

A pending burn disappears from the final report

Cause: a chain-head observation was treated as final before confirmation or solidification. Fix: maintain separate detected and finalized records and recalculate public totals from finalized events only.

The amount is off by a factor of ten

Cause: raw integer values were displayed without the token’s decimals conversion, or converted twice. Fix: preserve the raw value, load the token’s verified decimals, and store the conversion method with the record.

The destination is inaccessible but supply did not change

Cause: a transfer to an uncontrolled address was mistaken for contract burn logic. Fix: label it destination-based, inspect the transaction for a burn function or event, and avoid claiming a totalSupply reduction without that evidence.

The live monitor misses events during downtime

Cause: a real-time subscription was used without replay. Fix: run a bounded historical catch-up from the last finalized block or timestamp, then resume live monitoring and deduplicate against stored events.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Operational checklist

  • Contract filter is the documented JST address.
  • Network is TRON mainnet.
  • Event filter is Transfer, optionally with Transfer(address,address,uint256).
  • All four documented burn destinations are loaded exactly.
  • Historical requests use confirmation and block or timestamp bounds.
  • Fingerprint cursors are followed with unchanged filters.
  • Raw values and decimals-converted amounts are both retained.
  • Transaction ID plus event index is the deduplication key.
  • Detected and finalized alert states are separate.
  • Finalized totals are checked against transaction logs and published JustLend records.
  • Reports state clearly whether they measure transfers to uncontrolled addresses or verified supply reductions.

Bottom line

A dependable JST burn monitor is a contract-and-event pipeline, not a ticker search or a list of dead-looking addresses. Filter the JST contract, detect transfers to the documented destinations, paginate history with TronGrid fingerprints, alert first at chain head and again after solidification, and verify contract-level burn evidence before describing any movement as a reduction in totalSupply.
