To track an Amazon order, sign in, open Your Orders, select the order, and choose Track package. Select All updates to see scans and available tracking numbers. If the order contains several items, inspect each shipment because items can have different delivery dates. For a late or apparently missing package, follow the order-specific checks below before contacting the correct party—Amazon Customer Service for Amazon-shipped orders, or the third-party seller when that seller shipped and sold the order.
Track an Amazon order from Your Orders
The order-specific tracker is the most reliable starting point because it shows the shipment events, dates and delivery details attached to your purchase. Carrier websites may show additional scans, but the carrier and tracking number should first be taken from the order page.

- Sign in to the Amazon account used to place the order.
- Open Your Orders. On a computer, this is available from the account menu; in the Amazon app, open the account or orders area and select Your Orders.
- Find the relevant order. If you have many recent purchases, use the order-history search or date filters available on your account.
- Select Track package.
- Choose All updates to review the available scans and any tracking number.
Read the shipment details rather than relying only on the headline delivery date. An order with multiple items can be split into separate shipments, each with its own tracking number, carrier and estimated arrival. Open every shipment shown under the order before deciding that the whole order is late.

Some standard international deliveries may not be trackable. For third-party orders, the seller must provide tracking information and the visibility you receive depends on the shipping option used. A missing tracking number does not by itself prove that a parcel was not sent; use the order’s available help options to determine the next step.

If a carrier other than Amazon is delivering the parcel, use the carrier name and tracking number displayed in the order to check that carrier’s updates. Carrier scans can contain location or attempted-delivery details that are not yet reflected in Amazon’s summary.
What Amazon delivery statuses mean

Status wording and delivery details are shipment-specific. The latest event in the order tracker should take precedence over an older notification or an estimated date that has not refreshed.
What to do when an Amazon package is late
A late estimate is not always a lost parcel. Amazon lists bad weather, heavy traffic, holiday demand, customs delays on international parcels and operational problems as possible causes. Start with the tracker and allow the stated waiting period before escalating.
1. Check every source of tracking information
- Open Your Orders and review Track package and All updates.
- Check carrier emails, text messages and notifications associated with the order.
- Confirm whether the order was divided into shipments with different dates.
- Note the most recent scan, the estimated delivery date and the carrier shown.
2. Allow 48 hours after the estimated date
Amazon’s late-delivery guidance asks customers to allow 48 hours beyond the estimated delivery date for an unexpected delay. Amazon Customer Service states: “Most deliveries arrive within 48 hours.” This is waiting guidance, not a guarantee that every parcel will arrive within that period.
During those 48 hours, continue checking the order tracker and carrier notifications. A parcel can receive a new scan or a revised estimate after the original date passes. For international shipments, customs processing can extend the delay beyond ordinary domestic transit.
3. Escalate after the waiting period
If 48 hours have passed without delivery or a useful update, identify who shipped the order. For an Amazon-shipped order, Amazon says to contact Customer Service within 30 days of the estimated delivery date. For an order shipped and sold by a third-party seller, contact that seller through the order page. The help path and available contact choices can vary by order, region, seller and account.

- Open Your Orders and select the affected order.
- Choose the order’s help or contact option.
- Provide the order number, shipment or tracking number, estimated date and latest scan.
- State whether the issue is a late shipment, a failed delivery attempt or a package marked delivered but not found.
Keep the discussion tied to the specific shipment. Do not assume that a seller, carrier or Amazon is responsible until the order’s shipping details identify that party.
Requesting a shipping-fee refund for a missed guarantee
Amazon’s published help guidance describes a shipping-fee refund process for a qualifying guaranteed delivery that was not met. It does not promise a refund for every late order, and an ordinary estimated delivery date is not automatically a guarantee.
- Open Your Orders and select the late order.
- Choose Problem with an order.
- Select Shipping or delivery issues.
- Choose Shipment is late.
If the order qualifies, the page will present the available remedy, which can include a refund of shipping fees. Eligibility, labels and interface options are order-specific and can change by region or shipment. If no guarantee-related option appears, use the contact route shown for that order rather than assuming that a refund is available.
Amazon says “delivered,” but you cannot find the package
A delivered scan can mean the parcel was placed in a safe location, not necessarily handed to you. Amazon advises completing the following checks before escalating. Work through them in order and record what you find.
1. Confirm the shipping address
In Your Orders, open the order details and compare the shipping address with the intended destination. Check apartment, unit, building and delivery-instruction details. If the address is wrong, tell the support or seller representative exactly what the order shows; do not rely on a verbal description alone.
2. Read notices and inspect delivery evidence
- Open the order’s delivery confirmation and any delivery photo.
- Check the Amazon Message Center and email or app notifications.
- Inspect the mailbox, parcel area and other mail locations used at the address.
A photo may show a door, gate, lobby or other location that is easy to overlook. Use the image and written delivery instructions together; neither proves that the parcel is still at that location if someone has moved it.

3. Search around the delivery location
Look at the places a driver could reasonably use under the instructions on the order: entrances, porches, side doors, garages, reception desks, mailrooms and sheltered areas. Check locations that are visible from the address but not from the main doorway.
4. Ask household members and neighbors
Another person at the address may have accepted or moved the parcel. Ask nearby neighbors and any building reception or mailroom staff whether they received it. Compare their answers with the delivery time shown in the tracker.
5. Wait 48 hours after the delivered scan
Amazon’s customer-help guidance says a package can be scanned as delivered before it arrives and advises waiting 48 hours. Continue checking the tracker during that period. Do not treat the delivered scan alone as proof that the parcel was permanently lost.

6. Contact the carrier
Use the carrier and tracking number shown in All updates. The carrier may have additional location information or a delivery note that is not visible in Amazon’s summary. Follow the tracking service’s instructions if they specify a different waiting period. Amazon Shipping’s public tracking guidance, for example, tells customers to contact the seller if its package cannot be located after 36 hours. That 36-hour instruction is specific to Amazon Shipping and differs from the 48-hour guidance on Amazon.com’s customer-help page.
7. Escalate to the correct party
If the package is still missing, contact the third-party seller when that seller shipped and sold the order. For an Amazon-shipped order, contact Amazon Customer Service within 30 days of the expected delivery date, as stated in Amazon’s missing-package guidance. The order page will indicate which contact route is available.
Amazon-shipped versus third-party seller shipments
The shipping route determines where you start the escalation. Carrier identity matters for additional tracking details, but it does not by itself determine who must resolve every dispute.

Do not generalize from one order to another. Two purchases made on the same day can have different sellers, carriers, guarantees and contact options.

A missing item is different from a missing parcel. First open Your Orders and check whether the item shipped separately. Multi-item orders can have separate shipments and delivery dates, so an item absent from one box may still be moving in another shipment.
- Open the order and list every shipment and item assigned to it.
- Compare the packing information with the items that actually arrived.
- Check whether the missing item has its own tracking number or later estimated date.
- If the item was shipped and sold by a third-party seller, contact that seller.
- If Amazon shipped the item and it remains unresolved, contact Amazon Customer Service through the order’s problem-reporting flow.
Describe the missing item precisely and distinguish it from damaged packaging or an entire missing box. That helps the support route match the issue to the correct shipment.
International and lightly tracked deliveries
Some standard international deliveries may not offer tracking. Customs delays are also among the causes Amazon lists for late international parcels. If the order has no scans, check the estimated date, shipping option and seller information shown in the order, then use the available seller or Amazon contact path after the applicable waiting period.
Do not substitute a domestic delivery expectation for an international shipment. Customs processing, handoffs between carriers and regional tracking limitations can make the event history incomplete even when the parcel is moving.

Information to have ready when you contact support
- Amazon order number and the specific shipment or item involved.
- Estimated delivery date and whether it was a guaranteed delivery.
- Carrier name and tracking number, if displayed.
- Latest tracking event and its timestamp.
- Shipping address as displayed in the order.
- Delivery photo, notice or message details.
- Names or locations checked after a delivered scan.
Keeping these details together avoids restarting the same checks with each contact channel. Use the wording shown in the tracker—such as Shipment is late or Delivered—so the representative can select the matching order workflow.
Common mistakes that delay resolution
Checking only the order headline
The headline date may apply to one shipment while another item has a different date. Open each shipment and select All updates.
Reporting a delivered parcel immediately
First check the address, notices, photo, safe places, household members and neighbors, then allow the 48-hour period Amazon specifies. Contacting the carrier during that period can still be useful when the carrier offers location details.
Assuming every late order qualifies for a refund
The shipping-fee remedy described by Amazon applies to qualifying guaranteed deliveries. A late estimate without that guarantee does not establish refund eligibility.
Contacting the wrong party
Amazon-shipped and seller-shipped orders use different escalation routes. Confirm the shipping and selling information on the order before opening a case.
Ignoring a separate shipment
An apparently missing item may simply be in transit under another tracking number. Check the shipment breakdown before reporting an incomplete order.
A compact decision path
- Need the location? Open Your Orders → Track package → All updates.
- Multiple items? Review every shipment and date.
- Status is Arriving or Out for delivery? Follow the latest scan and delivery instructions.
- Status is late? Check carrier notices and wait 48 hours beyond the estimate.
- Still late? Within 30 days of the estimate, contact Amazon Customer Service for Amazon-shipped orders or the third-party seller for seller-shipped orders.
- Status is Delivered but nothing is present? Verify the address, inspect notices and photos, search safe places, ask household members and neighbors, wait 48 hours, then check with the carrier and escalate.
- One item is absent from an opened box? Check for a separate shipment before reporting a missing item.
Because delivery timing, contact windows, refund eligibility and interface labels can vary by region, seller, shipment and account, use the options displayed for the specific order as the final authority.
