To track an Amazon price, check the product’s built-in price history link when it appears, then set a target-price alert with Amazon, Keepa, or camelcamelcamel. History helps you judge whether a price is low relative to the period shown; an alert tells you when a chosen price is reached. Before buying, verify the live price, seller, shipping, and availability on Amazon.
Check Amazon’s built-in price history
On a product detail page, look beside the price for the price history link. Amazon’s official guidance describes opening that link to view the item’s history. If it is not visible, you can try the shopping assistant route: open the Alexa for Shopping icon in the Amazon shopping app or on desktop and ask a question such as “Has this item been on sale in the past 30 days?”, “What’s the price history?”, or “Is this the lowest price recently?”

It says price history was available to customers in the US, UK, Canada, and India, while describing the 365-day view as rolling out in the US, UK, and India. Use Amazon’s shopping assistant
Amazon says customers can ask its assistant to track an item toward a target price. Its announcement also describes a Prime Member auto-buy option, which may purchase at the target using the customer’s default payment and shipping details. Amazon’s announcement uses the Rufus name and describes 30- and 90-day tracking; Amazon renamed Rufus to Alexa for Shopping on May 13, 2026. The current interface, eligibility, and availability can change, so confirm the controls and terms in your own Amazon app or marketplace before relying on an alert or auto-buy. Use Keepa
Keepa offers Amazon price-history charts and price-drop alerts. Its Chrome extension can display charts on supported Amazon product pages and provides price-drop and availability alerts; the Chrome Web Store listing also describes international comparisons and support for named Amazon marketplaces. Use camelcamelcamel
camelcamelcamel offers price-history charts, price watches with email alerts, and The Camelizer browser add-on. It separates Amazon prices from third-party new and used prices, which can help explain why a chart does not match the offer you are looking at. The service lists support for Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain, the United Kingdom, and the United States, and says registration is optional. Choose Amazon’s history for a quick check without adding another tracker. Use a third-party service if you want a separate watchlist, email or browser alerts, or more explicit distinctions among offer types. Browser extensions are useful if you want charts on product pages; a web-based tracker avoids installing one. For marketplace-specific support and alert delivery, consult the service’s own current pages.

Read the chart and confirm the offer
- Match the item. Confirm the exact model, size, color, or bundle. Similar listings can have different histories.
- Check the price type. A chart for Amazon-sold items may not represent a third-party seller’s new or used offer. camelcamelcamel explicitly separates these categories.
- Set a meaningful target. Pick a price you would actually pay rather than treating any small dip as a bargain. Alerts report a threshold, not whether an offer is good value.
- Verify the live listing when notified. Recheck the price, seller, shipping cost, delivery terms, and stock on Amazon. A historical chart is not a guarantee that an offer is still available or the best current deal.
Common problems and fixes
- No price-history link appears: availability can differ by listing, account, or marketplace. Try the Alexa for Shopping route, or check the item with a tracker that supports your Amazon marketplace.
- The chart and current Amazon price do not match: confirm you are viewing the same item and price type. Third-party new or used offers can differ from Amazon’s own offer, and prices can change after a chart is updated.
- No alert arrives: confirm the item is being tracked, the target price is correct, and the account’s email or notification settings are current. Check that the service supports alerts for the marketplace you use.
- An alert arrives but the offer is gone: an alert indicates that a threshold was detected, not that stock is reserved. Open the live listing and check availability before deciding.
- A browser chart or extension is missing: confirm that the extension is installed and enabled and that the product page and marketplace are supported. If you prefer not to use an extension, try the tracker’s website.
