Save the page after its important content appears

Open the webpage while connected. Wait for the text, images, and any delayed results you need to appear. Save Page WE captures the page as currently displayed; waiting longer can help only if the site eventually delivers the content.

If the page is expected to show results after its initial load, open Save Page WE’s Options and consider enabling the delay-before-saving option. The extension documents this for pages such as delayed search results. It postpones capture after the page-load event; it does not make the connection faster.

Choose the items to include. Basic captures core displayed content. Standard adds all HTML images and audio/video. Custom starts with Basic and lets you select additional categories. For a slow connection, choose what you actually need offline: including more resources may mean more work to load or process, though the documentation does not quantify a speed impact.

Click the Save Page WE toolbar button, use its context-menu save action, or press Alt+A. By default, the result is an HTML file.

If Save Page WE reports resources it could not save, use its warning or list options to inspect them. You can also choose to remove URLs for unsaved resources so the local page does not try to request them from the internet.

Disconnect from the internet, if practical, and open the saved HTML file. Check the specific text, images, or other material you need rather than assuming the file is complete.

Standard: Basic items plus all HTML images, HTML audio/video, HTML object/embed files, and WOFF fonts.

Custom: Basic items plus categories you select, including all HTML images, audio/video, CSS images and fonts, and scripts in same-origin frames. Scripts in cross-origin frames are not saved.
Pages that load content as you scroll
Save Page WE provides two lazy-content methods, Scroll Page and Shrink Page, as well as an option to load lazy images in existing content. Consider them when a page visibly omits material until you scroll. They can cause more content to load or be processed, and the extension’s documentation does not quantify how they affect capture time on a slow connection.
Resource-loading limits
Options include maximum loading times for listed-URL or automated pages, a maximum size for large or repeatedly referenced resources, and a maximum loading time for individual resources. These are controls, not a guarantee that slow or unavailable resources will be captured. The cited extension documentation does not publish timing thresholds or a slow-network guarantee.

What the saved file contains—and what it may not
Save Page WE stores a page and its referenced resources together in one HTML file. Its documentation says external CSS is made internal, frame contents and external scripts are stored as data URIs, iframe contents use srcdoc, and binary resources such as images, fonts, audio, and video use Base64 data URIs. Some cross-origin frames may not be saved, and scripts in cross-origin frames are not saved.
A local HTML file does not guarantee that video playback, remote services, or interactive features will work offline. Verify the particular content you need in the offline copy.
When Firefox’s built-in save option may suit you better
Firefox offers two formats under its page-saving workflow. Choose based on whether you want one portable file or a page with a separate resource folder.

Troubleshoot missing or failed captures
Delayed search results or other late content are absent
Wait until the results appear, then try the delay-before-saving option. That option starts capture later; it cannot fetch data the page has not received.
Resources are missing from the saved page
Use the warning or list options to identify resources that failed to save. If appropriate, remove their URLs so the saved page will not attempt to load them online. Reopen the file offline to see whether the missing item matters to your use.
A page fails with the old save method
If the extension’s old save method fails, its store listings describe a new save method as a troubleshooting option. The Firefox listing says it can save more pages; the Chrome listing says it can save all pages. Store descriptions and versions differ by browser, so this is not a universal speed fix. A cross-origin frame or its script is missing
Some cross-origin frames cannot be saved, and scripts in cross-origin frames are not saved. This is a documented limitation, not necessarily a problem with your connection.

The saved page opens, but a live feature does not work
A saved HTML file is not a guarantee that remote services or dynamic site features will function offline. Treat the capture as a local copy of the content and resources that were available to save, and test it offline before depending on interactive behavior.
