If the SingleFile icon is missing from Chrome’s toolbar, open the Extensions menu (the puzzle-piece icon), find SingleFile, and select Pin. If it is not in that menu, check whether it is installed and enabled on Chrome’s extensions management page.
Pin SingleFile to the Chrome toolbar
- In Chrome, select the Extensions puzzle-piece icon next to the address bar.
- Find SingleFile in the menu.
- Select its Pin control. The icon should then appear in the toolbar.
Chrome’s extension management instructions describe pinning an extension that is hidden from the toolbar.

If SingleFile is missing from the Extensions menu
Open More > Extensions > Manage extensions. Look for SingleFile on that page. If it is listed, check its switch; if it is off, turn it on. If it is not listed, it may not be installed in this Chrome profile. The SingleFile project lists the Chrome Web Store as an installation route.
If Chrome says SingleFile is corrupted or unsupported
Corrupted extension
On More > Extensions > Manage extensions, select Repair if Chrome marks SingleFile as corrupted. Follow Chrome’s prompts, then check whether the extension is enabled and pin it from the Extensions menu.

Unsupported extension
An unsupported notice is different from a hidden or simply switched-off icon. Follow the instructions Chrome shows for unsupported extensions. Google says a disabled unsupported extension may be re-enabled temporarily for a limited period. In a managed browser, an administrator can control re-enabling through Chrome Enterprise Policy. See Google’s extension guidance for the applicable steps.
Controls are unavailable
If Chrome does not let you change the extension’s state or the browser says it is managed, contact your administrator. The specific policy on a managed device determines which controls are available.
What SingleFile’s toolbar button does
SingleFile saves a web page; its project documentation instructs users to click the toolbar button to save. The Chrome Web Store listing also documents Ctrl+Shift+Y for saving the current or selected tabs. The available documentation does not establish whether that shortcut works when the toolbar icon is hidden, so use the pinning steps above to restore access to the button.
