Use a repeatable mobile browser context, set the locale to mr-IN when the site uses it, and capture both viewport and full-page screenshots. Playwright’s screenshots help you inspect how Marathi text and responsive components render; they do not prove that menus, forms, or touch interactions work, so test those separately.
Choose pages and mobile widths that expose layout problems
Start with a representative Marathi landing page, then include pages that stress different parts of the layout: long headings, navigation, buttons, forms, and text-heavy content. Check narrow and wider mobile widths if the design changes at responsive breakpoints. There is no official Playwright checklist or standard set of Marathi-specific widths; choose cases based on the pages and browser sizes your site supports.

Keep the conditions consistent when you compare screenshots across runs: use the same browser engine, viewport, page content, and UI state. A named device preset is convenient, but it represents a particular platform configuration; choose one that matches the browser behavior you want to emulate.
Configure Playwright for Marathi mobile testing
Playwright device descriptors can set properties such as viewport, screen, user agent, and touch support. You can use a descriptor or define a viewport yourself. The following illustrative project uses the documented iPhone 13 preset and sets the locale to mr-IN:

import { defineConfig, devices } from '@playwright/test';
export default defineConfig({
projects: [
{
name: 'mobile-marathi',
use: {
...devices['iPhone 13'],
locale: 'mr-IN',
},
},
],
});Use a preset or explicit viewport that reflects your supported browser matrix; no single device is universally representative. Playwright’s locale setting affects navigator.language, the Accept-Language request header, and locale-sensitive number and date formatting. It does not translate the website: the site must provide Marathi content and decide how to serve it.
For project installation and configuration details, follow the Playwright emulation documentation. If the site selects Marathi based on a preference, route, or saved cookie rather than browser language, configure that state too.

Capture viewport and full-page screenshots
A viewport image shows the initial visible composition at the emulated mobile size. A full-page image exposes content farther down the page. Adapt the route and any loading conditions to your application:

test('Marathi pages fit a mobile viewport', async ({ page }) => {

await page.screenshot({ path: 'artifacts/marathi-mobile-viewport.png' });
await page.screenshot({
path: 'artifacts/marathi-mobile-full.png',
fullPage: true,
});
});Playwright also supports capturing an individual element, useful when inspecting a particular menu, card, or form. Choose the screenshot scope to match the question: viewport for above-the-fold layout, full page for content flow, or an element for a component-level view. See the Playwright screenshot documentation for the available capture options.

Review the screenshots and test behavior separately
- Look for clipped or overlapping Devanagari text, unexpected line wrapping, and headings or buttons that no longer fit.
- Check for horizontal overflow, content missing below the fold, and controls obscured by other elements.
- Compare narrow and wider mobile captures where responsive breakpoints change the arrangement.
- Exercise navigation, menus, links, forms, and touch interactions in tests. A static screenshot cannot establish that an interaction works.
These are practical review checks, not an official Marathi typography specification or a Playwright pass/fail standard. Emulation describes the configured browser context; it is not a guarantee that every physical-device behavior is reproduced. Test on actual target devices when that distinction matters.
Troubleshoot common screenshot-test issues
The page is not showing Marathi
Setting locale: 'mr-IN' changes browser language signals and locale-sensitive formatting, but does not supply translations. Check that the application has Marathi content and that its language-selection logic responds to the route, browser signal, or other preference you use.

Text wraps differently than expected
Confirm the viewport and device context are fixed, then inspect the actual rendered page for clipping, overlap, or overflow. Repeat at the other mobile widths that matter to your responsive layout; a screenshot is evidence of that configured context, not every phone.
The screenshot misses content or captures an incomplete state
Use fullPage: true when you need content below the initial viewport. If the application renders content asynchronously, adapt the test to wait for the relevant page state before capture; the minimal example does not define application-specific loading conditions.

A screenshot looks correct but the page still fails users
Run separate interaction checks for menus, links, forms, and touch behavior. Image review alone cannot establish that controls respond or that a flow completes.

ScreenshotNeo accepts cookie or consent banners like a visitor and removes known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture; each step can be turned off. Bot checks or CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits cost nothing, and response headers report the page verdict and billing status. Its MCP server gives AI agents tools to take screenshots, get page information, and capture PDFs.
