Start with the ad platform’s information panel and any available content-provenance details, then verify the casino, spokesperson, offer and licence independently. Visual or audio oddities may be clues, but none is proof: there is no established, reliable visual test specific to online casino ads, and a missing AI label does not prove that AI was not used.
How to check an online casino ad
- Open the platform’s ad information. On Google advertising surfaces, use the ad’s information controls and look for AI details in “About this Ad” or “How this ad was made.” Google says designated AI-created or edited assets may also receive visible overlays in campaigns targeting the EU, India and New York. These controls describe Google’s system, not every platform. Google explains its AI-related ad disclosures and controls.
- Look for provenance information. If the image or video exposes Content Credentials or comparable metadata, inspect it for information about origin and edits. Ofcom describes provenance metadata, including C2PA, as one way platforms can identify and label content. Such metadata can be absent, and it does not verify the ad’s claims. Ofcom’s attribution toolkit explains several approaches and their limits.
- Verify the casino and the offer separately. Search the relevant gambling regulator’s official register for the operator, and go to the operator’s official website independently rather than following the ad link. Check whether a named celebrity or spokesperson actually endorses the offer, and read its terms, eligibility rules and responsible-gambling information. Licensing is jurisdiction-specific; there is no single global casino-licence lookup.
- Use odd details as prompts to investigate, not verdicts. Strange text, inconsistent logos, unnatural movement, mismatched lip-sync or implausible details may warrant a closer look. None has been established as a dependable casino-ad-specific test. An AI detector’s result is not proof either.
Keep two questions separate: “Was AI involved in making this?” concerns production and disclosure; “Is this casino ad legitimate and lawful where I am?” concerns the operator, offer, platform rules and local law. A label cannot answer the second question, and an apparently human-made ad can still be misleading.

What an AI label or provenance record can tell you
There are three main ways an AI-use signal may appear. Each provides a different kind of evidence, and none establishes whether an ad is truthful.
| Signal | Who supplies it | What it may tell you | Limits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Advertiser disclosure | The advertiser | That the advertiser says AI was used in creating or editing the asset. | It depends on the advertiser disclosing honestly; it does not validate the offer, spokesperson or operator. |
| Platform disclosure or detection | The advertising platform | On Google, ad-information features can show AI-use details; the platform may identify assets made with its own tools. | It is platform-specific. A missing label does not establish that AI was not involved. |
| Provenance metadata, such as C2PA Content Credentials | Tools or services that create, edit or process the media | Origin or editing information associated with the content. | Metadata may be missing or may not survive reposting. It describes aspects of content history, not whether commercial claims are true. |
Ofcom calls self-disclosure the simplest route to identifying synthetic content, while noting that it “relies on the end user acting honestly.” Platform tools and provenance records offer other clues, but the evidence available to a viewer depends on the platform and the media file.

Why appearance alone is not a reliable test
People can miss synthetic media even when they feel confident about their judgments. A 2023 UK Competition and Markets Authority Short Report cited a study in which people detected deepfakes 42–77% of the time and reported confidence of 73–85%. Those figures describe a general deepfake study—not casino-ad detection, and not the accuracy of current detection software.
That is why visual and audio clues should lead to verification rather than a snap conclusion. A polished ad is not proof of human production; an awkward face, odd movement or strange voice is not proof of AI generation. Public claims about gambling providers’ use of AI also do not establish how a particular ad was made. The Australian Communications and Media Authority’s 2026 report on AI and interactive gambling notes that some public claims about providers’ AI use are speculative and describes evidence available through December 2025.

There is no universal rule that every AI-assisted casino advertisement must carry a visible label. Requirements depend on the jurisdiction, the content, the parties involved and the applicable exceptions.

Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →- European Union: The European Commission says Article 50 of the EU AI Act applies from 2 August 2026. Its guidance describes provider obligations that include machine-readable marking to enable detection of AI-generated or manipulated content, and deployer disclosures for defined cases, including deepfakes. This does not mean every AI-assisted ad everywhere must have a visible label. Read the European Commission’s guidance.
- Google advertising: Google lets advertisers designate assets as AI-created or edited, and users may see AI information in the ad-information panel. For designated assets in campaigns targeting the EU, India and New York, Google says visible overlays may also appear. Google cautions that using its AI-label setting does not guarantee compliance with regulations. See Google’s policy information.
- China: The State Administration for Market Regulation’s internet-ad identifiability guide encourages publishers in its jurisdiction to indicate ads generated with AI or deep-synthesis technology. This is jurisdiction-specific guidance, not a global requirement. See the SAMR guide.
AI involvement and gambling-ad eligibility are separate checks
A disclosed or suspected use of AI does not by itself make an ad a scam or a lawful ad. Google’s gambling policy illustrates the separate compliance questions: gambling advertisers must meet country-specific eligibility and certification requirements, target approved countries, provide responsible-gambling information on landing pages and avoid targeting minors. These are Google platform-policy requirements, not a statement of gambling law worldwide. Check Google’s gambling and games policy. Rules vary by country, so confirm the relevant regulator and local requirements for your location.
