First open the camera app’s event history or playback view and check whether the expected event is there. If it is, troubleshoot alert delivery on the app and phone; if it is absent, check detection, schedules, connectivity, and storage.
First determine whether the camera recorded the event
Open the camera app’s timeline, event list, or playback view and check the time when the activity should have happened. Netatmo, TP-Link, and EZVIZ all direct users to check event history or whether detection triggered when diagnosing missing alerts. The exact screen name depends on the camera and app.

- The event is present: the camera detected and recorded it. Focus on the app’s alert setting, phone notification permission, and conditions that can suppress or delay push delivery.
- The event is absent: investigate whether the camera detected the activity, whether recording was enabled at that time, whether a schedule or zone excluded it, and whether the camera was online with usable storage.
This distinction matters: replacing a storage card will not fix a phone that suppresses notifications, and changing phone permissions will not restore a clip the camera never saved.

Check detection, recording, schedules, and zones
In the camera app, verify that the relevant detection type and recording option are enabled. Check that the recording schedule covered the event time. If the app uses activity or alert zones, make sure the area where the activity occurred is inside the configured zone. Netatmo specifically advises checking its notification schedule and Alert Zones; EZVIZ recommends clearing schedules as a troubleshooting test. These are product-specific examples, so menu labels and available controls differ by model.

Confirm the camera is online
Check the camera’s connection status and Wi-Fi signal in its app. A weak or interrupted camera connection can prevent events from reaching the app or being saved as expected. EZVIZ recommends improving signal by moving the camera closer to the router or reducing obstacles and interference. If the camera is offline, restore its connection using the manufacturer’s instructions, then test whether a new event appears.
Inspect local storage if you record to a card
If the camera saves footage to microSD, check the app’s storage status: confirm the card is recognized, seated correctly, and initialized if the model requires initialization. Verify that the camera supports the recording mode you expect and that the card meets that model’s compatibility requirements.
For the EZVIZ C8W Pro 3K, EZVIZ specifies a Class 10 or UHS-I card, FAT32 for cards below 64 GB, and exFAT for cards of 64 GB and above. Back up any important clips before formatting a card; formatting can erase its contents. If the app reports a card error after checking installation and initialization, try a compatible card or contact the camera maker.

Check that the selected recording mode is supported
Continuous or all-day recording may not be available on every camera or in every power mode. EZVIZ says its all-day recording instructions require a supported model and an inserted, initialized card; some battery cameras may require a supported “Power Plugged-in mode.” Check the specific model’s manual or support page before expecting continuous recording from a battery-powered device.
Update the app and camera firmware
Install available updates for the camera app and firmware, following the manufacturer’s instructions. EZVIZ includes update checks in its recording and storage troubleshooting. Then generate a new test event and check the timeline again.
If events appear but phone alerts do not
Allow alerts in both the camera app and phone settings
There are two separate controls to check: the camera app’s own alert or push-notification setting, and the phone’s system permission for that app. Turn on the desired alerts in the app, then confirm notifications are allowed in the phone settings. Netatmo, TP-Link, eufy, and EZVIZ all include these checks in their support guidance.

Check schedules and interruption modes
Review the app’s notification schedule and confirm it includes the time in question. If the app supports an all-day or always-on schedule, use it briefly as a test. Also check whether iOS Focus or Android Do Not Disturb is silencing notifications. Names and locations of these controls vary across phone versions and manufacturers.
Check internet access on both devices
The phone needs working Wi-Fi or cellular data to receive push alerts. The camera also needs a usable connection to report events. Test the phone’s internet separately, then check the camera’s connection in its app. Netatmo and TP-Link identify connectivity as part of notification troubleshooting; Reolink also advises checking both camera and phone connectivity.
On Android, review background and battery restrictions
Some Android phones restrict an app’s background activity or battery use, which can delay or prevent notifications. Review the camera app’s battery optimization, background-running, and auto-start settings where available, and allow the app to run in the background. The exact names and paths vary by Android version and phone manufacturer; follow the phone maker’s or camera vendor’s instructions rather than assuming one menu path fits every device.

For Tapo and Kasa apps, TP-Link also recommends checking Google Play services and operating-system updates and offers an FCM diagnostics route. TP-Link says that a “Not connected” result means its Firebase Cloud Messaging service is unavailable and recommends contacting Google Support. This is vendor-specific guidance, not a universal Android fix.
Use the app’s notification self-check if available
EZVIZ recommends its push self-check when events appear on the Event page but do not arrive while the app is in the background. If the self-check fails or alerts remain missing after the app and phone settings are verified, collect the app log if the manufacturer provides that option and contact its support team.

Use the camera model and recording method to narrow the fix
The right next check depends on what is supposed to save the footage and what phone is receiving alerts:
- Local microSD recording: check card recognition, initialization, compatibility, free capacity, and the model’s supported recording modes.
- Cloud or app-based event history: check event detection, schedules, zones, and camera connectivity in the manufacturer’s app; do not assume a local card is involved.
- Android phone: after confirming app and system permissions, inspect background and battery restrictions specific to that handset.
- iPhone: confirm app notification permission and check Focus or other notification controls that may silence delivery.
If you are unsure which recording method the camera uses, consult its app or model support page before changing storage settings. Not every camera supports local-card recording, continuous recording, or the same notification controls.
