Use Cloudinary’s URL2PNG Website Screenshots add-on: register the add-on, then request the target public page through the url2png delivery type with fullpage=true. For production, generate a signed URL with a Cloudinary SDK or create the screenshot through the authenticated explicit API; unsigned add-on screenshot URLs are not the default.
What you need before you start
- A Cloudinary account and registration for the URL2PNG Website Screenshots add-on from the account’s Add-ons page.
- A publicly accessible website page to capture. The documented workflow is for public pages; it does not provide a way to capture logged-in pages or bypass access controls.
- A server-side Cloudinary SDK or authenticated API call for production generation. Keep API secrets off the client.
URL2PNG captures the page as an image and brings it into Cloudinary’s transformation and delivery workflow.

Build a full-page URL2PNG request
The delivery type is url2png, and the public ID is the target website URL. URL2PNG options follow the target URL in this form:

For a full-page capture, set fullpage=true. Cloudinary’s documentation illustrates the option with fullpage=false for a viewport-only example; change the value to true for the whole page. A conceptual delivery URL looks like this:

This is a format sketch, not a ready-to-run URL: the target URL needs correct encoding, and authorization depends on the URL signature or generation method. Use Cloudinary’s SDK URL helper rather than assembling a production URL by hand.
Choose viewport and rendering options
Cloudinary lists viewport, user_agent, and delay among the URL2PNG options. Set viewport and user agent when the capture should resemble a particular screen or device. Use a delay when a page needs additional time to render before capture. The presence of a delay option does not guarantee that every site-specific rendering problem will be resolved.

Authorize screenshot generation
By default, delivery URLs using this add-on must be signed or eagerly generated. Cloudinary explains: “By default, delivery URLs that use this add-on either need to be signed or eagerly generated.” (Cloudinary URL2PNG documentation, updated June 3, 2026.)

Do not expose Cloudinary API secrets in browser-side code. The official Cloudinary CLI documentation covers the authenticated generation route.

Deliver and transform the screenshot
URL2PNG generates an image that Cloudinary caches and delivers through its CDN. After capture, the image can be resized for an embed or transformed with operations such as crop, border, overlay, shadow, and format conversion. See Cloudinary’s image transformation documentation.
The rendered image depends on the target page and its rendering state. Check the output on pages with dynamic content, and adjust viewport, user agent, or delay if the capture does not reflect the state you need.

Troubleshooting common problems
- The URL is rejected or does not capture the intended page: Confirm that the target page is public and that the URL is encoded correctly. Prefer a URL generated by a Cloudinary SDK helper over manual concatenation.
- The add-on request is unauthorized: Use a signed SDK URL or generate the screenshot through the authenticated
explicitAPI. Unsigned add-on transformations require the optional account setting and are not enabled by default. - The image shows only part of the page: Check that the URL2PNG option is
fullpage=true, rather than the documented viewport-only example valuefalse. - Content is missing or appears before it has rendered: Consider the documented
delayoption and confirm that the viewport and user agent match the capture you want. A delay may not fix every site-specific rendering issue. - You need to serve the generated screenshot without signing every delivery URL: Generate it eagerly through the authenticated API first; Cloudinary says subsequent transformations of that generated image can use regular unsigned delivery URLs.
