In desktop Chrome, open the BBC programme page, then use DevTools’ Capture full size screenshot command. This captures the webpage beyond the visible window; it is different from making the BBC video player fullscreen. The steps below are reported in a Google Chrome Community answer, so the command’s availability or label may vary as Chrome changes.
Capture the whole programme page in Chrome
- Open the BBC programme page in desktop Chrome and let it finish loading. BBC programme pages are published at
bbc.co.uk/programmes; BBC Academy’s production guide notes that a trailing PID identifies a particular page. This is context for locating a page, not a requirement for the capture method. See BBC Academy’s “Find the programme page” guide. - Open Developer Tools with Ctrl+Shift+I on Windows or Linux, or Command+Option+I on Mac.
- Open the DevTools command menu with Ctrl+Shift+P on Windows or Linux, or Command+Shift+P on Mac.
- Search for Capture full size screenshot and select it. Chrome saves an image of the page.
- Open the saved image and inspect its top and bottom. If some page content appears only as you scroll, scroll through the page first, then capture again and verify the result. This is a practical precaution, not a BBC guarantee that every element will load or appear identically.
Full-page screenshot versus the player’s fullscreen button
A full-page screenshot records webpage content extending beyond the current browser viewport. The player’s fullscreen control expands video playback; it does not capture the entire programme page. If you need a clean capture of the video itself
Player controls and the progress bar are overlays on the video area. Their appearance is separate from whether a screenshot includes the page above and below the viewport. A Reddit discussion illustrates this distinction in a viewer’s question, but does not establish a technical fix for hiding controls: Reddit discussion. The Chrome full-page command should therefore be treated as a way to capture the webpage, not as a verified method for producing a control-free video frame.
