Berkshire Hathaway reported buying 2,403,609 Lennar Class A shares and 15,028 Class B shares on October 1–2, 2026. The listed transaction prices add up to approximately $192 million; the SEC filing reports the trades but does not publish one combined dollar total. Warren Buffett is named as a reporting person, but the filing does not say he personally chose or directed the purchases.
What Berkshire bought and when
The issuer is Lennar Corporation, a homebuilder whose shares trade as LEN and LEN.B. Berkshire Hathaway Inc. and Warren E. Buffett reported the transactions on an SEC Form 4 filed October 5, 2026. The filing lists purchases made October 1 and October 2, with multiple weighted-average prices for the transactions.

- Class A: 2,403,609 shares.
- Class B: 15,028 shares.
- Approximate combined transaction value: $192 million, calculated from the transaction quantities and listed prices in the Form 4. The SEC filing does not state that aggregate as a single figure.
The roughly $190 million description is therefore a rounded estimate, not a dollar total quoted by the SEC. The SEC Form 4 contains the transaction details, and the SEC filing index confirms the filing date and reporting period.

Not necessarily. Buffett is named alongside Berkshire as a reporting person, but the Form 4 describes the disclosed shares as held through Berkshire subsidiaries. It says Berkshire may be deemed to beneficially own those subsidiary-held shares. Buffett may be deemed to beneficially own them only to the extent of his pecuniary interest, and he disclaims beneficial ownership except to that extent.

Those disclosures describe reporting and ownership relationships; they do not identify who selected or directed the trades. The filing also gives no explanation of Berkshire’s investment rationale.
How this differs from Berkshire’s earlier homebuilder disclosures
The October transactions are later than Berkshire’s second-quarter portfolio snapshot. In August, the Associated Press reported that Berkshire’s Lennar stake had increased nearly 30% in Q2, that it held a small D.R. Horton position valued at $580,504 as of June 30, and that Berkshire completed its Taylor Morrison acquisition in July. Those are separate disclosures and should not be conflated with the October Lennar purchases. Associated Press coverage

The Form 4 establishes that the listed transactions occurred and records the associated reporting persons and ownership disclosures. It does not establish that Lennar is undervalued, explain why the purchases were made, or show that Buffett personally made the investment decision. Nor does the purchase alone determine whether Lennar shares are suitable for another investor.
