YouTube Studio stores your scheduled live broadcast, but it does not synchronize the encoder settings or local schedule on two PCs. To keep both computers ready, schedule or select the event in Studio, configure each encoder with the correct stream destination and key, and transfer OBS settings separately if needed. Treat the PCs as alternates for one event or as separate encoders for distinct broadcasts; the right setup depends on whether their streams will overlap.
What “sync” means for YouTube Live
YouTube distinguishes the broadcast—the scheduled event or video—from the stream configuration used by an encoder to send audio and video. Google’s API documentation says a stream defines the settings for sending content to YouTube. Scheduling a broadcast in Studio does not automatically copy local OBS settings, playlists, scenes, or schedules between computers. For broadcasts at different times, YouTube’s model allows a stream configuration to be reused. Recurring broadcasts that may overlap or need different encoder settings may be better served by separate stream configurations. This is a resource-model distinction, not a feature that synchronizes two PCs. The Google guide was last updated September 14, 2026.
Set up the same scheduled event on both PCs
- Schedule or select the broadcast in YouTube Studio. Check that the event is the intended one, including its title, date and time, and visibility. Use the scheduled broadcast’s stream setup in Studio; do not assume a similarly named event is the same one.
- Choose how the PCs will be used. If one is a backup for the same event, make sure both are configured for that intended broadcast and decide which PC will transmit. If they will run separate or overlapping broadcasts, use the appropriate separate broadcast and stream setup rather than expecting one local configuration to manage both.
- Configure each encoder independently. In YouTube Studio, open the stream setup for the intended broadcast and copy its stream URL and stream key into that PC’s encoder settings. Repeat on the second PC. Confirm the destination and event before starting either encoder. YouTube’s encoder workflow covers scheduling a stream, copying the URL and key into the encoder, and starting the encoder: Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder.
- Protect the stream key. Treat it like a credential: share it only with people who need it, avoid posting it in screenshots or public files, and replace it in the encoder if it is exposed. Verify that each PC has the key intended for its broadcast.
- Check start and stop behavior in Studio. YouTube’s API documents automatic start when video begins on a bound stream and automatic stop about one minute after streaming stops when those options are enabled. Confirm the scheduled event’s actual Studio controls; do not assume that one PC’s encoder action controls another PC’s event. LiveBroadcasts API reference (last updated September 14, 2026).
- Test the transmitting PC’s connection. Each PC sends its own stream to YouTube, so check the upload connection and bitrate on the computer that is transmitting. OBS explains that an unstable connection or one unable to sustain the configured bitrate can cause dropped frames. OBS Help Portal: dropped frames
Move OBS settings between computers
OBS Profiles can transfer stream, video, and output settings. On the source PC, export the needed Profile as JSON, move the file to the other PC, then import it there. The destination OBS installation still needs to be checked for the correct broadcast destination and stream key before going live.

- On the source PC, open OBS and choose Profile > Export.
- Save the Profile JSON and transfer it to the other PC using a secure method, such as a private file transfer. A USB drive is also an option for carrying the file; it does not synchronize YouTube Studio.
- On the second PC, choose Profile > Import in OBS and select the JSON file.
- Review the imported Stream, Video, and Output settings, then verify the stream destination and key against the intended event in YouTube Studio.
Profiles do not include scenes. OBS explicitly directs users to use Scene Collections for those: OBS Project: Profiles (dated January 14, 2022). Transfer or recreate the needed Scene Collection separately, and check that its sources work on the second PC.
Choose one shared stream or separate stream configurations
| Use case | Practical arrangement |
|---|---|
| Two PCs are alternatives for one scheduled event | Set up the intended broadcast in Studio and verify that each PC’s encoder points to that event’s stream configuration. Have only the intended PC transmit for the event; don’t treat simultaneous use of the same key as a synchronization method. |
| Broadcasts occur at different times | YouTube’s API guide describes reusing a stream configuration for broadcasts at different times. Confirm the selected broadcast and encoder setup each time. |
| Broadcasts may overlap or use different encoder settings | Use separate stream configurations where needed, bound to the intended broadcasts. The Google guide describes separate streams as suitable for recurring broadcasts that may overlap or require different settings. |
| Scenes and sources need to match | Transfer a Scene Collection separately from the Profile; a Profile alone does not carry scenes. |
The Google API guidance describes YouTube resources and their relationships; it does not establish that two PCs can safely transmit simultaneously to one event or that a shared key coordinates their local schedules. When in doubt, verify the event and encoder status in Studio before starting.

Troubleshoot schedule and encoder mismatches
- The wrong event appears in Studio: confirm the selected broadcast’s title, date/time, and visibility, then copy the stream URL and key from that event’s setup into the encoder you intend to use.
- The event is scheduled, but the encoder is not sending to it: scheduling is separate from encoder configuration. Recheck the destination and key on that PC against the Studio stream setup.
- The second PC has different OBS output settings: export and import the Profile, then review its Stream, Video, and Output settings. The Studio event itself is not transferred by the Profile.
- Scenes or sources are missing after importing a Profile: Profiles do not store scenes. Transfer or recreate the appropriate Scene Collection separately and verify its sources on the second PC.
- Dropped frames occur on one computer: inspect that PC’s upload connection and configured bitrate. OBS identifies an unstable connection or insufficient capacity for the set bitrate as causes of dropped frames; check that computer’s connection rather than assuming the other PC’s settings solve it.
- The stream starts or stops at an unexpected time: check the event’s Studio controls and whether automatic start or stop is enabled. The API behavior depends on those settings and the bound stream.
Or let it run in the cloud
If your goal is an always-on YouTube playlist rather than coordinating two local encoders, StreamNeo runs uploaded videos from the cloud: upload your recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; it streams the files as uploaded, up to 4K 60fps, at one price per slot, and automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. It plays uploaded video to YouTube, not a live camera feed. Start the free first day.
