You can use OBS to send a Kannada children’s-story program to YouTube, but a dependable 24/7 broadcast needs more than pressing Start Streaming: live streaming must be enabled on the channel, the encoder needs YouTube’s stream URL and key, your internet connection needs enough upload capacity, and you need rights to every story, image, voice recording, and music track. Plan the broadcast and test it before making it public. YouTube’s guidance does not establish a particular OBS looping setup or promise one archive for a stream that runs continuously for 24 hours or longer.
Before you set up OBS
- Enable YouTube live streaming. If this is the first time the channel will go live, activation may take up to 24 hours.
- Prepare content you have permission to broadcast. Check rights for the story text, illustrations, translations, narration, music, and any recordings.
- Choose how children will encounter the stream. If the content is made for children, set its audience accurately in YouTube Studio. This affects available features.
- Check your connection. The total stream bitrate must fit within available upload bandwidth. YouTube recommends keeping about 20% of upload capacity in reserve.
- Decide how to handle long runtimes. YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours are automatically archived; its guidance does not promise a single archive for a stream lasting 24 hours or more.
Create the YouTube stream
- Open YouTube Studio and go to Live Control Room. Create or schedule a stream, then set its title, visibility, and other details for the intended audience.
- Set the audience designation correctly. For a stream made for children, use the made-for-kids setting in Live Control Room. Do not plan the experience around features that setting disables, such as live chat.
- In the stream’s setup details, find the YouTube stream URL and stream key. The key lets an encoder send its feed to your channel, so treat it like a credential: do not publish or share it. If it is exposed, replace it in YouTube Studio and update OBS.
Configure OBS and connect it to YouTube
OBS sends the program you assemble in its scenes and sources; YouTube receives that feed through the stream URL and key. Exact OBS labels and menus can vary by version, so confirm the current interface in your installed build rather than relying on a menu path that may have changed.

- Open OBS and prepare a scene for the broadcast. Add the video, images, or other sources you are entitled to use, and check that the picture is framed correctly.
- Add and check the audio source or sources. Listen for clear narration, balanced music, and silence or clipping where intended. A stream can be technically connected while still presenting unusable audio.
- Open OBS’s streaming settings, select YouTube if available, and enter or connect the server URL and stream key from Live Control Room. Keep the key private.
- Set a video resolution and bitrate that your computer and internet connection can sustain. The bitrate must remain below available upload capacity, with YouTube’s recommended roughly 20% headroom left over. A higher output setting is not useful if the connection cannot reliably carry it.
- Test the actual sequence of stories and transitions. Confirm that the intended content continues in the way you expect. Do not assume a particular OBS source automatically loops or restarts indefinitely; verify the behavior in your version before depending on it for an overnight broadcast.
- Start OBS streaming for a private or unlisted test, then inspect the incoming picture and sound in Live Control Room and on the watch page. Check access from a viewer’s perspective before switching to the intended public visibility.
Plan the 24/7 broadcast and its archives
A 24/7 channel is an operating plan, not just a long encoder session. Decide whether to keep one continuous broadcast or schedule shorter segments, and what viewers should see if the computer, OBS, or internet connection stops. YouTube’s stated automatic archive behavior applies to streams under 12 hours; do not assume a single replay will cover a continuous 24-hour-or-longer session. Verify the current archive behavior and your segment plan in YouTube Studio.

- Schedule setup well ahead of the intended start. YouTube recommends setting up an encoder at least two hours before an event and starting it at least 15 minutes early.
- Preview the feed in Live Control Room, confirm the event is accessible to its intended viewers, and monitor picture and sound during the broadcast.
- If you need a replay, check the resulting archive rather than assuming it was created or that it contains the whole continuous program.
- Use a stable network connection where possible. YouTube notes that shared connections and network disruptions can affect streaming; a wired connection may be a practical option if available, but it does not guarantee uninterrupted service.
Children’s audience settings and rights
What made-for-kids designation changes
YouTube requires creators to identify content made for kids, and the audience setting can be managed at channel or video level. For a live stream, set the audience in Live Control Room. YouTube says made-for-kids live streams lose features including live chat, live chat donations, comments, channel memberships, notifications, personalized advertising, Super Chat, and Super Stickers. Personalized ads are not served on children’s content, which YouTube says may reduce revenue for some creators.

Clear every part of the program
YouTube’s livestream terms state: “You represent and warrant that you have all necessary rights for the exploitation of the Live Content on the Google Services throughout the world, including, without limitation, music licensing rights from artists, record labels, publishers (including public performance licenses) and any other royalty participants.” This is a platform requirement, not individualized legal advice.
Buying a storybook does not by itself establish permission to read, perform, stream, or archive its contents. Check permission for the story, translation, illustrations shown on screen, narration, background music, and recordings. YouTube scans live streams for third-party matches; identified material can trigger a warning or placeholder and may interrupt or terminate a stream if it remains. Even if a rights holder has licensed a use, a live stream may still be interrupted if the channel is not allowlisted through Content ID.

Troubleshoot common problems
