To stream a Kannada bhajan recording to YouTube Live with FFmpeg, use a rights-cleared audio or video file, put FFmpeg’s -stream_loop -1 option before the input you want repeated, and send the encoded output to the server URL and stream key from YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room. The loop can repeat indefinitely, but it cannot guarantee an uninterrupted broadcast: your computer, connection, FFmpeg process, YouTube ingest, account eligibility and content rights all matter.
Before you start
- Check channel eligibility. YouTube requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restrictions in the past 90 days. See YouTube’s live-streaming requirements.
- Confirm the rights for every asset. A devotional or traditional subject does not automatically make a particular recording, image, or video free to stream. Use material you own or have permission to broadcast.
- Prepare the source. Identify the audio or video file you intend to loop and confirm it plays correctly. If the stream uses a still image or simple visual alongside audio, check that both the image and recording are cleared for use.
- Plan for the encoder to stay available. With a local FFmpeg workflow, the computer, network connection, source files and encoder process must keep working for the broadcast to continue.
Create a YouTube Live encoder stream
- In YouTube Studio, open the Live Control Room and create or schedule a stream using the encoder setup.
- Copy the server URL and stream key shown for that stream. YouTube’s encoder streaming instructions describe the setup.
- Keep the stream key private. Do not put it in a public tutorial, repository, screenshot or shared command. Anyone who obtains it may be able to send video to your stream.
- Use the ingest URL provided by YouTube; choose RTMPS when it is supported. RTMPS encrypts the connection to YouTube.
Loop a Kannada bhajan input in FFmpeg
FFmpeg documents -stream_loop -1 as infinite input looping; -stream_loop 0 means no looping. It is an input option, so place it before the input it applies to. The FFmpeg documentation explains the option in its command-line documentation.

An audio file does not contain a video picture. If your live stream needs a visual, provide a compatible video source, such as a still-image visual prepared as video, and configure FFmpeg to send both video and audio. Verify the resulting preview in Live Control Room before going public. The documentation cited here establishes the looping behavior and YouTube’s encoder requirements; it does not prescribe one complete command for every audio-and-image combination.

When your source already contains audio and video
Loop the media input with -stream_loop -1 before its -i option, then encode or pass through streams only if the selected input formats and YouTube ingest requirements support that choice. Check the preview for picture, sound and sync rather than assuming the source file’s playback guarantees a healthy live output.
Choose encoder settings that fit the output
YouTube’s published live encoder settings list RTMP/RTMPS transport; H.264, H.265 (HEVC) or AV1 video; AAC or MP3 audio; constant-bitrate encoding; frame rates up to 60 fps; and a recommended two-second keyframe interval that should not exceed four seconds. The same guidance gives bitrate ranges by codec, resolution and frame rate.

- Resolution and frame rate: choose the actual output you can encode and upload reliably. A simple devotional visual does not require an unnecessarily demanding output.
- Bitrate: use the row matching your codec, resolution and frame rate in YouTube’s guidance, then ensure your stable upstream capacity can sustain it. There is no single bitrate that fits every stream.
- Keyframes: target the recommended two-second interval and do not exceed four seconds.
- Audio: use AAC or MP3, confirm the audio is present, and listen for clipping or unexpected silence.
- Codec availability: confirm your installed FFmpeg build supports the codec you plan to use.
- Transport: use RTMPS when supported to encrypt the encoder connection to YouTube.
Start the stream and verify it
- Start FFmpeg with the completed command and watch its output for connection or encoding errors.
- In Live Control Room, confirm that YouTube is receiving the encoder preview. Inspect the picture and listen to the audio; check that the loop behaves as expected.
- If the event is scheduled or configured for manual start, select Go live in Live Control Room after the preview is ready.
- Monitor YouTube’s stream health and audio/video quality. Test with representative media and motion before relying on the setup for a long session.
Rights, interruptions and continuous operation
Copyright can interrupt even a technically healthy stream
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. A detected match can cause YouTube to replace the stream with a placeholder; if the matched content continues, YouTube may interrupt or terminate the stream. If you licensed third-party music, the rights owner may need to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist, or the stream can still be interrupted. See YouTube’s guidance on live-stream content.

-stream_loop -1 tells FFmpeg to repeat an input indefinitely. It does not restart FFmpeg after a crash or restore a dropped network connection by itself. The computer, connection, source file, encoder process, YouTube ingest, channel status and rights status can all affect continuity. Process supervision and connection monitoring are operational choices, not features supplied by the loop option.

Decide whether you need a YouTube archive
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived, while streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. If a replay matters, consider shorter scheduled sessions and keep a local recording as a backup; check that the local recording is actually growing. See YouTube’s archive guidance.
