To stream existing podcast episodes as a YouTube Live feed from an Indian cloud server, create or schedule the YouTube broadcast, run an encoder on the server, and send its output to the event using the current RTMPS endpoint and stream key shown in YouTube Live Control Room. Start the encoder, check YouTube’s preview, then start the event. The YouTube setup is documented; the right Indian cloud region, server size and hosting cost depend on your chosen provider and media, and are not specified in YouTube’s guidance.
Choose a scheduled broadcast or a continuous channel
Scheduled episode or recurring show
For a one-off show or a recurring programme, create or schedule a YouTube Live event and connect the encoder when it is time to broadcast. Each event is the viewer-facing broadcast; the incoming audio/video feed is a separate stream. YouTube’s API documentation distinguishes the broadcast resource from the stream resource, a distinction that matters when building recurring or continuous workflows (YouTube Live Streaming API).

Continuous channel
A continuous channel needs an operating plan for both the incoming feed and the viewer-facing broadcast. The API concepts can help structure that setup, but they do not keep a server, encoder, playlist or internet connection running. Plan to monitor the process and decide how it will recover after interruptions; do not assume that creating one stream resource makes the entire system self-maintaining.
Create the YouTube Live destination
-
In YouTube Studio, open the current Live Control Room and create or schedule the event. YouTube’s interface can change, so follow the controls shown there rather than relying on an old menu path.
-
Copy the event’s current stream URL and stream key. Treat the key like a password: anyone who obtains it may be able to send a feed to that destination. Keep it out of public scripts, screenshots and logs.
-
Keep the Live Control Room open so you can check the incoming preview and start the event after the encoder connects. YouTube’s encoder workflow is to enter the URL and key in the encoder, wait for the preview, and then start the scheduled event (Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder).
Run the playlist encoder on the Indian cloud server
The server needs an encoder process that can read your episode playlist and send an audio/video feed to YouTube. Choose software and configure it for your actual media formats; the official YouTube setup guidance explains the destination connection, but does not certify a particular FFmpeg command, playlist syntax, system service or cloud-provider configuration.

-
Check whether your episodes are audio-only or already include video. If the encoder must provide video for an audio-only playlist, decide on a suitable visual such as a static slate and confirm the finished output in YouTube’s preview.
-
Check the order of episodes, transitions, silence and gaps, and how the playlist behaves when it reaches the end. Do not assume a playlist tool will loop or advance exactly as intended without testing it.
-
Configure the encoder with the stream URL and key copied from the event. Avoid putting the key in a publicly accessible file or a command that will be exposed in shared logs.

YouTube’s documentation does not identify an Indian cloud provider, a recommended machine size or a bandwidth plan for this workflow. Those decisions depend on the encoder and media requirements as well as current provider availability and pricing. Compare the provider’s Indian-region options, compute capacity, outbound data charges, monitoring and restart facilities before committing.
Use RTMPS by default; choose HLS only when it fits
RTMPS for a typical encoder workflow
RTMPS is RTMP over an SSL connection and is the sensible baseline for a typical encoder-to-YouTube workflow. Use the current endpoint and application path shown for your event; Google documents port 443 and correct endpoint and path configuration as connection requirements (RTMPS ingestion). Do not rely on a hard-coded endpoint or key copied from another stream.
HLS for compatible workflows
HLS is an alternative for compatible encoders and workflows, not a universal upgrade for podcast playlists. YouTube says HLS ingestion has higher latency than RTMP-based ingestion. Its documented requirements include TS segments lasting 1–4 seconds, HTTPS POST/PUT requests and a rolling playlist with no more than five outstanding segments. Byte ranges and non-HTTPS encryption are unsupported (YouTube Live ingest protocols). Choose it only if your encoder and codec needs justify the segmented workflow and its latency trade-off.
Test the feed, then start the event

Start the encoder on the server with the event’s current URL and key.

Verify that episodes advance in the correct order and that silence or gaps are handled acceptably.

Start the scheduled event in Live Control Room when the preview is ready. Monitor the server and feed during the broadcast; successful initial connection does not guarantee the process or network will remain available.
Copyright, reused content and archiving
Only stream episodes and accompanying audio or visuals that you have the right to use on YouTube. A podcast playlist can include music, clips, artwork or other material with separate rights; having a copy of a file does not establish permission to broadcast it. Review YouTube’s current policies and your licences before scheduling a public stream. Replaying previously published episodes as a live feed also does not itself establish eligibility for monetization: assess the channel against YouTube’s current monetization and reused-content rules rather than assuming that continuous playback qualifies.

Troubleshoot common setup problems
| Symptom | What to check |
|---|---|
| YouTube shows no preview | Confirm the encoder is running and that you copied the current event’s URL and key correctly. Check the endpoint, application path and required port 443 for RTMPS. |
| The preview appears, but the event is not live to viewers | After confirming the preview, start the scheduled broadcast in Live Control Room. |
| Episodes do not advance or repeat as expected | Check playlist order, end-of-list behaviour and gaps using a test run before the announced event. |
| Audio plays but the visual is missing or unsuitable | Check whether the source includes video. If it is audio-only, configure an appropriate visual output and confirm it in the preview. |
| The feed drops after initially working | Check the server’s encoder process and network, then reconnect using the event’s current destination details. Add monitoring and a tested restart or recovery procedure; YouTube’s connection guide does not guarantee that a cloud process will recover on its own. |
| HLS ingestion fails | Check that the encoder sends TS segments of 1–4 seconds over HTTPS POST/PUT, keeps no more than five outstanding segments in its rolling playlist, and does not rely on unsupported byte ranges or non-HTTPS encryption. |
