1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsTo loop a prerecorded relaxation video on YouTube Live, add it to an OBS Studio scene as a Media Source, enable Loop, and stream OBS to YouTube using the stream URL and key from YouTube Studio. Test the loop, sound, connection, and preview before selecting Go live. This is a streaming setup guide, not a claim that aromatherapy has therapeutic or medical effects.
What you need before you start
- A YouTube channel that is verified and has no live-streaming restrictions in the past 90 days. YouTube’s stated minimum age to live stream is 16. First-time activation can take time, so check channel readiness ahead of your broadcast. See YouTube’s live-streaming requirements.
- A computer with OBS Studio installed and the finished video file available locally.
- A reliable internet connection with enough upload capacity for your encoder settings.
- Permission to use every visual and audio element in the video, including music.
You do not need a webcam, microphone, capture card, diffuser, or dedicated hardware encoder just to stream a prerecorded file. YouTube supports software encoders such as OBS; it recommends professional-grade hardware encoders for higher-production events, but the available guidance does not make one necessary for a simple video loop.

Set up the looping video in OBS
- Create a scene. Open OBS and add a scene for this broadcast. Give it a clear name so you can identify it later.
- Add the video file. In the scene’s Sources panel, select + and choose Media Source. Create a new source, browse to the local video file, and confirm the selection.
- Enable the loop. In the Media Source properties, check Loop. OBS documents this property as repeating the file after playback completes. If the source is not visible, fit it to the canvas and check that it fills the intended frame without unwanted cropping.
- Check playback and sound. Play the source in OBS and confirm that the picture appears and any embedded audio is audible at a suitable level. Watch the end of the file and its restart: a hard cut, black frame, silence, or abrupt sound change may be noticeable each time it loops. If the file has no audio, confirm that this is intentional rather than a routing problem.
OBS’s official Media Sources guide describes local audio/video playback and the Loop property. A loop repeats the file; it does not smooth an abrupt edit or make separate clips seamless.

- Open Live Control Room. In YouTube Studio, choose Create and then Go live. Use the Stream tab to create a stream or schedule one. YouTube’s setup details are in its encoder streaming instructions.
- Copy the stream URL and key. In YouTube’s encoder setup, copy the server URL and stream key. Treat the key like a password: anyone with access may be able to send a feed to the stream, so do not show it in a screen capture or share it publicly.
- Enter them in OBS. Open Settings > Stream, select YouTube as the service if available, and enter the supplied stream key. If OBS asks for a server URL, use the one displayed in Live Control Room. YouTube recommends RTMPS, its secure extension to RTMP; use the RTMPS server option when the encoder setup provides it.
- Choose output settings. Match resolution and frame rate to the source and the connection, then set a constant bitrate encoder. YouTube recommends a two-second keyframe interval and says not to exceed four seconds. Its guidance lists 720p at 30 fps at 4 Mbps as the recommended bitrate for that standard-frame-rate row, with 2 Mbps at the low end and 6 Mbps at the high end. These are platform recommendations, not a guarantee: encoding load, motion, and connection quality also affect the result. Consult YouTube’s encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions for other output formats.
YouTube transcodes incoming streams into formats for different playback devices. Run an upload-speed test, and leave about 20% of available upload bandwidth unused as headroom, as YouTube’s streaming tips recommend. If another stream is running at the same time, include its upload use in the total.

Test, start, and monitor the broadcast
- Do a representative test. Start the OBS stream before the planned public start. Use a representative section of the video and listen to its audio while watching YouTube’s Live Control Room preview. Check the loop point too, not just the first few seconds.
- Check the watch page. Confirm that the preview looks and sounds right, that viewers can open the event, and that playback works on a mobile device. Review YouTube’s stream-health messages and correct any warnings before proceeding.
- Go live. When the preview is ready and you are satisfied with the picture and sound, select Go live in Live Control Room. Keep an eye on audio, video, and stream health during the event.
- End the stream cleanly. End the broadcast in YouTube, then stop streaming in OBS. YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours are automatically archived; if the archive matters, check that it appears in YouTube Studio after the event.
YouTube advises setting up encoder streams in advance, starting the encoder before the scheduled event, checking the preview, and monitoring audio and video. Its streaming tips explain the preparation and monitoring steps.
Keep rights and YouTube policies in view
A technical loop setting does not grant permission to use a video or its soundtrack. Use material you created, licensed, or otherwise have the right to stream, including background music and any included imagery. The stream must also comply with YouTube’s Community Guidelines and Terms of Service; see YouTube’s live-streaming policies.

If you plan to monetize the channel, consider the overall value and originality of the content. YouTube says highly repetitive, interchangeable, or template-like videos with little creative, educational, narrative, or commentary value may not be eligible for monetization. A loop by itself does not determine a specific channel’s eligibility. Review YouTube’s channel monetization policies.
Troubleshoot common problems
- The stream does not appear in YouTube. Confirm that OBS is using the active stream key and the server URL from the correct Live Control Room stream. Check the OBS connection status and YouTube’s stream-health messages. If a key may have been exposed, replace it in YouTube and update OBS.
- The preview is black or the file will not play. Confirm that the Media Source points to the correct local file and that the computer can access it. Re-select the file if it was moved, then test playback in OBS before reconnecting.
- The video does not repeat. Reopen the Media Source properties and verify Loop is checked. Watch through the end in OBS to confirm the source restarts.
- The stream buffers or reports poor health. Reduce output bitrate or resolution, test the upload connection again, and preserve YouTube’s recommended 20% upload headroom. Also check whether other devices or streams are consuming bandwidth.
- Picture or audio is missing or poorly framed. Check the scene source visibility, fit the Media Source to the canvas, and verify that the file’s audio is present and audible in OBS. Recheck the YouTube preview before going live.
- The archive is missing. YouTube’s automatic archive guidance applies to streams shorter than 12 hours. Verify the event duration and look for the recording in YouTube Studio; do not assume a longer stream will be archived automatically.
