How to Stream a Continuous Relaxation Video Loop to YouTube Live

Use an encoder such as OBS to send a relaxation video to YouTube Live, and enable looping in the playback source. Test the restart, connection, and content rights before going public.
Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

To stream a relaxation video continuously on YouTube Live, create a live event in YouTube Studio, send it from an encoder such as OBS, and set the video source to repeat in the encoder or playback app. YouTube handles the live event; the encoder handles repeating the file. Test the loop, audio, and connection before making the broadcast public.

Before you start

  • An eligible YouTube channel: it must be verified and have no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. First-time live activation can take up to 24 hours. See YouTube live streaming tips.
  • A computer and encoder: YouTube supports encoder software such as OBS. You do not need a dedicated hardware encoder or expensive equipment; use a computer you already have if it can sustain the chosen stream settings.
  • A relaxation video and permission to use it: confirm that you have the necessary rights to both the video and soundtrack before streaming.
  • A reliable wired or wireless internet connection: the stream must remain connected for the entire broadcast.

Create the YouTube Live event

  1. In YouTube Studio, select Create → Go Live. You can start an event or schedule it for later. Scheduling creates an upcoming watch page that you can share and lets viewers opt into reminders. See Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder and Manage live stream settings.
  2. Choose encoder streaming and copy the stream URL and stream key shown in the Live Control Room. Some encoders offer a YouTube sign-in or service selection instead of manual fields.
  3. Keep the stream key private: it allows an encoder to broadcast to your channel. If it is exposed, reset it in YouTube Studio before streaming again.

Configure the encoder and make the video repeat

  1. Open your encoder, such as OBS. Connect it to YouTube by selecting YouTube if offered, or enter YouTube’s stream URL as the server and the stream key in the key field.
  2. Add the relaxation video as a media or playback source. In that source’s settings, enable its repeat or loop option. The exact control depends on the encoder or playback application.
  3. Check what happens at the end of the file: it should start again without ending the encoder output. YouTube’s encoder instructions cover sending a signal to a live event, but do not document a YouTube-native repeat control for an encoder input. Repeating the source is the playback app’s job.
  4. Set a video resolution and bitrate your upload connection can sustain. In YouTube’s encoder guidance, supported video codecs include H.264, H.265/HEVC, and AV1; YouTube recommends RTMP or RTMPS, constant bitrate (CBR), and a 2-second keyframe interval, with keyframes no more than 4 seconds apart. Check YouTube’s current encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions when configuring your particular encoder and resolution; compatible options and recommendations can change.

Test the loop before going public

  1. Start with a private or unlisted test event and use the same video, soundtrack, and encoder settings you intend to use for the broadcast.
  2. Check the Live Control Room preview and listen to the audio. Watch past the file’s endpoint to verify that the picture and sound restart as intended, without a prolonged gap, source failure, or unwanted silence.
  3. Check the stream on the devices your viewers may use and confirm that it is accessible with the intended visibility setting.
  4. Run an upload-speed test. YouTube’s streaming tips recommend keeping 20% upload-bandwidth headroom above the stream’s needs. Monitor the encoder and Live Control Room stream health during the broadcast.

Start and monitor the broadcast

  1. When the test is satisfactory, set the event’s visibility as intended and start streaming from the encoder. Confirm the preview and stream health in YouTube Studio before sharing the public link.
  2. Keep the computer, encoder, video source, and network connection running throughout the broadcast. Monitor audio, video, and connection health; if the encoder stops, the live feed can stop too.
  3. When finished, stop the encoder and end the event in YouTube Studio. YouTube says encoder streams under 12 hours are automatically archived; do not assume a longer broadcast will be archived. Check the event in Studio for its current archive status.

Check copyright and YouTube rules

You are responsible for having the rights needed to transmit the video and music on Google services, including applicable music rights. YouTube scans live streams for third-party content; a match can trigger a warning and placeholder, and unresolved issues can interrupt or terminate a stream. A license may not by itself prevent interruption: the rights owner may also need to allowlist your channel. See YouTube’s livestream terms and conditions and Copyright issues with live streams.

As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

  • Check the license for both the visual content and every soundtrack track, including any background or ambient audio.
  • Keep written license or permission records available in case a claim arises.
  • Ask the rights owner whether your channel needs to be allowlisted, especially if you have licensed the music but expect Content ID matching.

Software encoder or hardware encoder?

YouTube supports both approaches; neither is universally better. For a relaxation loop, the practical choice is the device and workflow that can repeat your source and stay connected at the selected resolution and bitrate.

Common problems and fixes

  • Live streaming is unavailable: verify the channel and check for live restrictions. If this is the first activation, allow up to 24 hours for it to become available.
  • YouTube receives no encoder signal: check that the encoder is using the correct stream URL and current key, that it is set to YouTube’s recommended supported protocol, and that the network allows the connection. Reset an exposed key and update the encoder with the new one.
  • The video plays once and stops: enable repeat in the media source or playback app, then test through the end of the file. The loop is not controlled by YouTube Studio.
  • Viewers hear silence or get a gap at the restart: inspect the file’s ending and audio track, then test the full transition in the preview and on a viewer device. Adjust the source or edit the file if the gap is part of the media.
  • The stream buffers, drops frames, or loses connection: lower resolution or bitrate to fit the available upload speed, use a more stable connection where possible, and preserve YouTube’s recommended 20% upload headroom.
  • A copyright warning interrupts the broadcast: check the matched content, confirm your license covers live streaming, and contact the rights owner about channel allowlisting. Do not assume a license automatically prevents automated interruption.

Or let it run in the cloud

If you do not want a computer or home connection to stay on, StreamNeo runs an uploaded video or playlist continuously to YouTube from the cloud. Upload the video, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It does not stream from a camera. Each slot keeps one stream running, supports uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, includes 10 GB storage per slot pooled across active slots, and automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card, one free day per account. Monthly billing is $9.99 per month. Start your free day with StreamNeo.
