To run a nonstop YouTube Live loop, send a continuous video feed to YouTube through an encoder, then monitor the broadcast and keep a separate local recording if you need a dependable replay. First verify your channel and configure a stream in YouTube Studio. The key caveat: YouTube says a stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured as an archive; that is not the same as a rule requiring the live broadcast to stop after 12 hours.
Decide what “nonstop” means for your channel
A study-with-me channel can use “nonstop” to mean a recurring scheduled session, a single feed that stays connected, or prerecorded visuals sent repeatedly through an encoder. These are operationally different. A YouTube playlist or uploaded video does not automatically become a live stream: for an encoder-based loop, the encoder must send a live feed to YouTube.

- Recurring sessions: Start separate broadcasts on a schedule. This can make each session easier to manage as its own event.
- One connected feed: Keep the encoder sending video continuously. If replay preservation matters, do not rely on YouTube’s automatic archive alone for a long stream.
- Prerecorded loop: Use an encoder workflow that sends the video source repeatedly. YouTube’s encoder setup documentation explains connecting a feed, but does not specify a particular looping automation recipe.
YouTube’s official materials reviewed here do not establish the maximum duration of one continuous broadcast or a supported way to restart an encoder while preserving the same watch page. Google’s API documentation discusses a 24/7 live-feed scenario alongside a separate broadcast resource, but that example does not establish the duration permitted for one broadcast. Check that your channel can go live
YouTube requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. Check this before building your schedule or configuring an encoder. YouTube’s current Help wording also states that a channel can have up to 10 active streams and a stream key up to 3 active streams; these are platform limits, not recommended targets.

Set up an encoder stream in YouTube Studio
- Open YouTube Studio and enter Live Control Room. Create a stream or select one whose settings you want to reuse.
- Copy the stream URL and stream key from YouTube Studio. In your encoder, paste the URL into its server or destination field and the key into its stream-key field. The key authorizes the encoder to send video, so treat it like a password.
- Choose the video source. For a prerecorded study scene, configure the encoder to send that source as a live feed. The particular method for repeating a file depends on the encoder; YouTube’s cited setup guidance does not prescribe a file-loop setting.
- Use the Live Control Room preview before starting the broadcast. Confirm the intended picture and sound arrive, then start sending the feed from the encoder and check the live preview and watch page.
YouTube lets creators reuse stream settings, including metadata and a stream key, and create custom stream keys. Its auto-start and auto-stop options can simplify repeated sessions, but YouTube does not describe those settings as crash recovery or as a way to restart without interruption. If a key may have been exposed, reset it in YouTube Studio’s stream settings and update the encoder with the replacement.
Choose a format and test the viewer experience
Camera or prerecorded scene
A webcam is optional. It can suit a creator-led session where viewers see you studying at your desk; a prerecorded scene can suit a quiet visual loop. YouTube lists webcam and encoder streaming as options and says expensive equipment is unnecessary. Do not buy a camera just to make an encoder loop possible.

Latency and interaction
YouTube describes latency as the delay between capture and playback, and notes that lower latency can mean more buffering. A study-with-me broadcast without live audience interaction generally has less need for immediate delivery than an interactive session, so consider that trade-off rather than choosing a low-latency setting automatically.
Run a real test
Before relying on the loop, test the whole path with an unlisted or otherwise suitable stream. YouTube recommends preparing an encoder at least two hours before an event and starting it at least 15 minutes before a scheduled start; these are event-preparation recommendations, not an uptime guarantee for a continuous channel.

- Check the Live Control Room preview, watch page, picture, and audio.
- Open the stream on a phone to confirm mobile playback works as expected.
- Monitor the encoder’s stream-health information and verify the local recording file is growing if you are recording.
- Check that the intended title, description, visibility, and other reused metadata are correct before each session.
Plan for the 12-hour archive caveat
YouTube Help says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived and warns: “If your stream exceeds 12 hours, it may not be captured at all.” The 12-hour figure concerns archive capture, not a documented maximum duration for the live broadcast. YouTube recommends making a local recording backup. If preserving a replay matters, record locally and check during the stream that the recording is actually being written.
Ending and restarting a broadcast may create separate broadcasts; the official material reviewed does not specify a restart method that preserves one watch page. Choose between a continuous feed and separate scheduled sessions based on whether a single ongoing viewer destination or cleanly separated replays matter more to your channel.

Protect the stream from rights interruptions
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. If it identifies a match, it may replace the video with a placeholder, interrupt the stream, or terminate it. YouTube’s terms require creators to have the necessary rights for live content used on Google services.

- Use original or properly licensed video and audio, including background music.
- Check that the license covers the live broadcast and any archive or replay you intend to keep; ask the rights holder where the scope is unclear.
- If you have a license for third-party material, YouTube says the rights owner may need to allowlist your channel through Content ID so the stream is not interrupted.
Troubleshoot a loop that fails or looks wrong

YouTube lists live-stream ads, Super Chat and Super Stickers, and channel memberships as possible revenue features. They are not guaranteed for every channel: eligibility applies, and YouTube says ads are not guaranteed to serve in every slot. Do not build a continuous stream’s budget around assumed ad delivery.
