Reduce task-management alerts in layers: first identify which app, channel, and event is generating the interruption; then adjust delivery, event types, project or plan subscriptions, and quiet hours. Keep the alerts you rely on for assignments, deadlines, and direct requests. The controls below are documented for Asana, ClickUp, and Microsoft Planner; exact labels and availability can vary by product, plan, workspace, and administrator policy.
Start by tracing what is interrupting you
Before changing settings, record a few examples of unwanted alerts. For each one, identify the app, where it arrived, and what happened in the app to trigger it. A task comment might generate an in-app alert, an email, a desktop popup, and a message in Slack or Teams. Those deliveries can have separate controls.

- Channel: email, browser or desktop popup, mobile push, or the app’s inbox.
- Trigger: a comment, mention, assignment, status change, due date, or general activity update.
- Scope: a particular task, project, plan, group, or workspace.
- Integration: a connected service such as Slack or Teams that may deliver the same event again.
Change one noisy layer at a time. That makes it easier to see which setting worked and avoid losing an alert you still need.
Reduce interruptions without losing useful alerts
Choose a quieter delivery channel
If the main problem is popups, reduce browser, desktop, or mobile delivery first while keeping the app’s inbox or email available for later review. If email is the problem, adjust email separately rather than assuming that disabling it also changes push notifications. Asana and ClickUp both document separate channel controls. Filter the events you receive
Keep direct mentions and work assigned to you if those alerts help you respond promptly. Reduce broad activity updates or changes on tasks and projects you do not need to monitor. Where your app offers presets such as mentions-only or focused notifications, use one as a starting point, then check its included events rather than assuming the preset matches your needs.
Schedule quiet time
Use Do Not Disturb or an equivalent schedule for meetings, focus blocks, or time off. Asana’s settings documentation describes pausing push and browser notifications and scheduling the pause for selected days and times. A scheduled pause is different from disabling a notification category: it limits when those channels interrupt you. Asana notification settings

- Smart Inside, Natural Outside: A smart chip inside the Pad helps the app detect your phone during sessions, while the casing is made from natural wood and cork for a warm, desk-friendly feel. Made in the EU.
Unsubscribe from activity you do not need
Review project, portfolio, goal, plan, and group subscriptions separately from personal task alerts. You may be able to leave broad project activity enabled for some work and turn it off for work that does not require your attention. In Planner, group messages and activity emails have controls separate from personal task notifications, and some plan email controls are available only to group owners. Where to find the controls in common task managers
| App | Where to start | What you can adjust | Important limits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Asana | Profile photo → Settings → Notifications | Email and browser notifications, Slack notifications, defaults for projects, portfolios, and goals, plus Do Not Disturb scheduling. Project, portfolio, and goal notifications can also be managed individually. | Do Not Disturb pauses push and browser notifications. The settings and available controls may vary by workspace or current interface. |
| ClickUp | Open Notifications from your personal avatar or Inbox in the web or desktop app. | Separate preferences for Inbox, Email, Browser/Desktop, and Mobile. Applicable channels include Focused, Mentions only, Custom, and Disable options, with more specific task and comment triggers. Mute controls are also available. | Preferences are per user and per Workspace. Notification settings are not accessible from the mobile app; use web or desktop to change them. |
| Microsoft Planner | Settings → Notifications for task alerts; inspect the Planner bot conversation in Teams for its separate controls. | Task assignment and due-date notifications are controlled separately from plan group messages and activity email. In Teams, the Planner bot can be muted or blocked. | Group members can stop receiving group messages, but only group owners can toggle certain plan activity emails. Some events, including being added to a plan, are not user-configurable through the listed controls. |

Check connected apps and group delivery
If an alert still arrives after you adjust the task manager, check whether an integration or group subscription is sending a copy. For example, Asana documents Slack notification settings, while Planner in Teams has a separate Planner bot conversation. Review the task app and the connected channel rather than assuming one setting controls both. Asana notification settings · Manage notifications in Microsoft Planner

- WHEN WILLPOWER FAILS, LOCKED DOESN'T: Locked Card creates a physical barrier between you and your most distracting apps. Leave the card behind and TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube stay locked — no override button, no settings menu, no workaround.
- ONE CARD, UNLIMITED PHONES: Unlike single-device blockers, Locked Card works across multiple phones — buy once and use it across your entire household. No per-device fees, no additional cards, no subscription, ever.
- FOR STUDY, DEEP WORK & FAMILY SCREEN TIME: Blocks TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube during exam revision, home-office focus sessions, or bedtime routines. Parents can set phone limits for teens that cannot be bypassed without the card present.
- CREDIT-CARD SIZE, WALLET-READY: Same dimensions as a standard credit card — slides into any wallet slot or cardholder. Compatible with NFC-enabled iPhone and Android. Note: thick or metal phone cases may reduce NFC tap range.
- SIMPLE SETUP, LIFETIME ACCESS: Includes 1 Locked Card and free companion app with lifetime access. Choose which apps to block, tap to activate, tap again to unlock. No subscription required — one card works across multiple phones, forever.
Test your changes before relying on them
- Adjust one channel or event category at a time, and note what you changed.
- Wait for a normal example of the noisy event, or ask a teammate to trigger it if appropriate.
- Check whether the interruption stopped across the app, email, desktop or mobile, and any connected service.
- Confirm that an important assignment, direct mention, or deadline alert still reaches you through a channel you check.
- If a control is missing or an alert persists, check project or group subscriptions and ask the workspace administrator or group owner whether policy or role permissions limit the setting.
