To silence a loan app, turn off or adjust its notifications in Android Settings. To stop it accessing a device feature or data, revoke the relevant permission separately. These controls do different things: changing one does not automatically change the other.
Turn off or narrow a loan app’s notifications
If the app has sent an alert recently, you can open its notification controls directly from that alert. Otherwise, use Android’s notification settings. The exact labels can vary by phone maker and Android version.

Use a notification you received
- Find the loan app’s notification in the notification shade.
- Touch and hold the notification, then open its notification settings.
- Turn off all notifications, or switch off only the categories you do not want if the app offers categories.
Android Help describes these notification options and notes that settings vary by phone: Manage notifications on Android.
Find the app in Settings
- Open Settings > Notifications > App notifications.
- If prompted, choose All apps, or find the app in the recently sent list.
- Select the loan app and turn notifications off, or adjust individual categories if available.
If your phone’s menus do not match, search Settings for the app’s name or for “notifications.” Turning off every notification is the simplest option; turning off selected categories can preserve alerts you still want.

Revoke the loan app’s device permissions
To change what the app can access, open Settings > Apps > [loan app] > Permissions. Tap a permission you no longer want to allow and choose Don’t allow, where that option is available. Google’s Android guide describes changing permissions app by app: Change app permissions on your Android phone.
Review permissions individually rather than assuming they all have the same effect. If a feature relies on a permission you revoke, that feature may stop working or become limited. Android’s developer guidance says apps should handle denied or revoked permissions by degrading gracefully, potentially disabling the feature that needs them: Request runtime permissions. The sources do not establish which permissions a particular loan app needs.

Review recent permission access
On supported Android versions, the Privacy Dashboard can show which apps accessed permissions and when. Open Settings > Security and Privacy, or look under Privacy > Privacy Dashboard; the precise path varies. Google says the dashboard shows the last seven days of history on Android 13 and the last 24 hours on Android 12: Learn about the Privacy Dashboard.

Check whether Android paused the app as unused
Android may automatically change an app’s behavior after it has not been used for a long time. Android Help says it can delete temporary files, revoke permissions, stop background activity, and stop notifications for unused apps. Check Settings > Apps > Unused apps, or open the app’s App info > Unused apps page if available. The app’s page may include Pause app activity if unused, which you can switch off to exclude that app from the pause behavior. See Manage unused apps on your Android device.
There are also version-specific permission-reset details. Google Play Help documents automatic resets for unused apps on Android 6.0–10, with a three-month inactivity period, and explains how to review Permissions for unused apps in Play Protect settings or switch off Remove permissions if app isn’t used for an individual app: Use Google Play Protect to help keep your apps safe. Do not treat that three-month period as a universal rule for every Android version.

Android Developers says sensitive runtime permissions can be reset after a few months of non-use for apps targeting Android 11 or later. The same documentation says that, from Android 13 onward, an app can relinquish runtime permissions it no longer needs: Permissions updates in Android 11. These are technical behaviors; the device’s app settings remain the place to review and change permissions.
What changing these settings does—and does not do
Notification controls silence alerts; permission controls limit the app’s access to particular data or device features. Neither action, by itself, is described in Android’s device-setting guidance as cancelling a loan, closing a borrower account, or updating a lender’s records. If you need to change a loan or account arrangement, use the lender’s account or servicing process separately.
