To reduce the risk of Gemini calling or messaging the wrong person, check your contact records and permissions, disconnect Phone, Messages, or WhatsApp in Connected Apps if you don’t want Gemini to use them, and turn off calls and messages while the phone is locked. These are separate controls: turning off Keep Activity alone does not block Android communication apps.
How do I stop Gemini from calling the wrong person?
Google says Gemini may use contact information, device calling and messaging logs, device information and settings, and available activity to help choose an app and connect you with the right person. That describes the intended inputs, not a guarantee that Gemini will always identify the correct recipient. Google does not publish a quantified wrong-recipient rate.

Check contact details and permissions
- On Android, open Gemini and go to Menu → profile picture or initial → Settings → Contact info from your devices.
- Review the Save contact info from your signed-in devices setting. Google says it allows contact information from signed-in devices to make contacts easier to interact with across Google services.
- Check your device contacts for duplicate names, outdated numbers, or entries that could be confused with one another. If Gemini offers multiple matches, confirm the person before proceeding.
- Review the Google app’s Android permissions. Google identifies Phone as needed for calling; Contacts can enable calls to device contacts not synced to your Google Account; and Call Logs can help Gemini connect with the right person.

Disconnect the communication app you don’t want Gemini to use. In Gemini, open Settings & help → Connected Apps, find Phone, Messages, or WhatsApp, and turn off its integration. If a particular app is not listed, it may not be available for your device, country, language, account type, or Gemini app.

Google specifically notes that on Android, communication apps may still be used even when Keep Activity is off. Manage app access in Connected Apps rather than relying on the activity setting. See Google’s Connected Apps instructions for details.
How do I stop calls and messages from the lock screen?
On Android, open Gemini and go to Menu → profile picture or initial → Settings → Gemini on lock screen. Turn off Allow calls and messages without unlocking. Google documents a separate Use Gemini without unlocking option for general questions, so check the calls-and-messages control directly if your aim is to prevent communication actions while the device is locked.

What does Keep Activity change—and what does it not change?
Keep Activity controls whether Gemini Apps Activity is saved and, when enabled, whether that activity is used to improve Google services. It is not a switch that disables Android Phone, Messages, or WhatsApp integrations. Use Connected Apps to stop Gemini from using those apps.

Google says that disconnecting a connected app or deleting information in that app does not itself delete information already in Gemini Apps Activity. Google says Gemini may process contact information, device calling and messaging logs, device information and settings, and activity when available to handle calls and messages. In some cases, up to 90 days of saved Google Assistant communications-request history may be imported into Gemini Apps Activity; this is a possible maximum window, not a statement that every user has such history imported.
Google states: “Messages that you create and send with the Gemini app are not end-to-end-encrypted by Google.” That statement is about messages created and sent with Gemini; it should not be read as a claim about every message in Android or in other apps.

Google also says a subset of Connected Apps data may be reviewed by trained human reviewers. It describes steps to disconnect interactions from accounts and reduce personal information before review, except in abuse or harm cases; feedback can also lead to review. Avoid connecting apps containing confidential information you would not want a reviewer to see. Read Google’s Connected Apps personalization information for its explanation of this handling.
