Do not pay, click, reply, or share a code until you have verified the contact inside the Revolut app. Revolut says it will never ask you to make a payment or disclose a verification or security code over the phone, and it will not call without booking and confirming the call in advance. A genuine support call is conducted inside the Revolut app, where its details are visible. Treat an unexpected text, email, link, or call as suspicious, verify it through in-app Support chat, and report any fraudulent transaction from the transaction screen.
This guide explains the warning signs, the safest reporting route, and the actions to take if you already clicked a link, disclosed information, or sent money. Menu labels and feature availability can vary by country and app version.

Use this five-point check before doing anything
Phishing messages imitate a bank so that you act before thinking. The safest response is to pause and test the contact against five questions. A single warning sign can be enough to stop; several together indicate a likely scam.

Do not use a phone number, button, or web address supplied by the suspicious message to verify it. Open Revolut from the app icon you normally use, or type a known address yourself, then contact Support from there.

The signs of a Revolut phishing message
Requests for money, codes, or secret credentials
The clearest red flag is a request that conflicts with Revolut’s security rules. Revolut states: “Revolut will never ask you to make any payments or ask you to share any verification or security codes over the phone, or call you without booking the call and confirming it with you in advance.” That covers requests framed as a fraud-prevention step, an account-unlock fee, a test transfer, or a refund that supposedly requires you to send money first.
Verification and security codes are valuable because they can authorize access or a transaction. Never read one to a caller, type it into a page reached from an unsolicited message, or send it in a chat. The same caution applies to your PIN, password, and passcode. A legitimate employee does not need you to disclose these secrets to prove your identity.
Lookalike sender addresses
Inspect the complete sender address, not just the display name. Revolut gives @revolut.com as the expected pattern and contrasts it with lookalikes such as [email protected]. Attackers may add extra words, punctuation, numbers, or a different top-level domain. On a phone, expand the sender details if the mail app hides the address. An address that merely contains the word Revolut is not proof that it came from Revolut.
For text messages, check the conversation history and the originating number, but do not assume that a familiar-looking sender ID is safe: sender IDs can be spoofed. The content, request, link, and your ability to verify it in-app matter more than the name shown at the top.

Unverified or unexpected calls
Revolut says it will not call without booking and confirming the call in advance. Its support calls are carried out directly within the Revolut app, “which criminals can’t replicate.” If a caller appears without an appointment, asks you to install software, requests a code, or directs you to a separate messaging service, end the call.
Do not stay on the line while opening a link or performing a transfer. Hang up, open the app independently, and ask Support whether a call was scheduled. The presence of a caller ID, a convincing accent, or personal details about you does not replace in-app confirmation.
Links combined with urgency
Phishing pages often imitate a sign-in screen or a security alert. The message may claim that your account will be frozen, a payment is waiting, or a deadline expires within minutes. Urgency is designed to stop you checking the sender and the destination. Revolut advises staying vigilant, not clicking unsolicited links, typing URLs directly, and never sharing PINs, passwords, or passcodes by phone or chat.

Failure of independent verification
A genuine issue can be checked without trusting the original contact. Open Revolut and use in-app Support chat to ask whether the text, email, call, or request is legitimate. A sender who says Support is unavailable, demands secrecy, or tells you not to open the app is trying to remove that independent check.
How to report a suspicious message safely
Follow these steps while the contact is still unverified. The aim is to preserve evidence without giving the scammer another opportunity.
- Stop the interaction. Do not click, reply, call back, pay, or disclose information. Do not use links, attachments, or phone numbers contained in the message.
- Open Revolut independently. Launch the app from your device and use its in-app Support chat. Ask whether the contact is genuine and explain what it requested. This is the official route described for checking an unexpected call, email, link, or text.
- Report any related transaction. If money has moved or a card transaction appears that you did not authorize, open Home, select the transaction, choose Get help, and select the most relevant reporting option. Use the labels shown in your version of the app; they can vary by country and app version.
- Keep a record. Save the message, sender address or number, date and time, and screenshots for your records. Preserve the evidence without forwarding links or attachments to other people. Forwarding can expose someone else to the same malicious content.
- Continue in the in-app case. Keep the Support chat available so you can answer follow-up questions and check the case status.
The official guidance does not identify a separate public email address for reporting a suspicious phishing message. Do not hunt for an address supplied by the sender; use in-app Support chat and the in-app transaction-reporting flow.
If you clicked a link or entered information
Act as though the information may have been exposed, even if the page closed and nothing obvious happened. Stop all communication with the scammer and do not return to the page. Open the Revolut app independently and contact Support through in-app chat, describing exactly what you clicked and what you entered.

If you shared a passcode or suspect account access
Change your Revolut passcode promptly when you suspect that someone may be able to access the account. Tell Support that you disclosed information or suspect unauthorized access so the specialist team can secure the account and review the case. Do not disclose a replacement code to anyone who contacts you outside the app.
If you entered card details or a one-time code
Contact Support in-app immediately and explain whether you entered card numbers, a PIN, a password, a passcode, or a verification code. If a card may be exposed, freeze it from the card icon in the app. Revolut also describes termination as an alternative; Support can advise which action is appropriate for your situation.
If you transferred money or see a fraudulent transaction
Use the transaction flow: open Home, select the transaction, choose Get help, and select the relevant reporting option. Then contact Support in-app so the case is linked to the account review. Report the incident to the police if possible and keep any police report number, because the fraud team may request it.
If a scammer is still contacting you
Stop all communication. Do not negotiate, warn the sender, or test another link. Blocking the number or address can prevent further contact, but the important protective steps are to avoid engagement, secure the account through the app, and preserve the original evidence. Never forward the malicious link or attachment to friends or colleagues as a warning; describe the warning signs instead.
What Revolut does after an in-app report
Revolut says its specialist fraud team will secure the account and review the case. The review includes whether funds can be recovered or whether reimbursement may apply; neither outcome is automatic. The team may ask for additional information, such as a police report number. Follow the case in in-app chat and answer requests there rather than through an unsolicited caller or email.
Recovery depends on the facts and timing of the incident. A prompt report gives the team the earliest opportunity to investigate a transfer or account compromise, but you should not promise yourself that a payment will be reversed. Keep your timeline, screenshots, sender details, and transaction information together so you can provide a consistent account.

A practical checklist to keep beside your phone
- Pause when a contact is unexpected or urgent.
- Refuse requests for payments, PINs, passwords, passcodes, verification codes, or security codes.
- Check the full sender address for typos and unusual formats.
- Do not trust a display name, caller ID, shortened link, or copied phone number on its own.
- Confirm calls inside the Revolut app; legitimate support calls are visible there.
- Open in-app Support chat instead of replying to the message.
- For a fraudulent transaction, use Home → transaction → Get help and choose the relevant option.
- Save evidence but do not forward links or attachments.
- If you engaged, stop communication, freeze the card from the card icon, change your passcode when account access may be exposed, contact Support, and report to police if possible.
Remember the core test: a real Revolut contact does not require you to bypass the app’s independent checks. When in doubt, do nothing in the message and verify from inside the app.
