Scheduling the event in YouTube Studio creates an upcoming broadcast viewers can share or set reminders for; it does not, by itself, put a timetable on the video. These are two separate setup tasks.
1. Schedule the YouTube live event
- In YouTube Studio, open Go Live, then choose Manage.
- Schedule a new stream or reuse settings. Check the event’s visibility, title, description, and time before saving.
- Share the event’s watch URL with your audience. A scheduled stream can appear as upcoming, and viewers may opt to receive a reminder. YouTube’s encoder guide explains the scheduling workflow.
This event listing is promotion and access information, not an on-screen run of show. YouTube’s documentation does not describe a Studio setting that automatically turns event details into a podcast schedule overlay.

2. Prepare the schedule viewers will see
Make a compact graphic or a simple web page with the segments and times you want viewers to follow. Include only information that remains useful on screen—for example, segment names and their start times. If the timing changes during the show, update the displayed schedule or use a page you can edit; a static image will not update itself.
YouTube does not prescribe a schedule layout, graphic file type, or dedicated schedule widget in the cited overlay instructions. Treat the design choices below as practical production guidance, not YouTube requirements.

3. Add the schedule to your encoder scene
- In YouTube Live Control Room, get the stream URL and stream key for the event, then enter them in your encoder’s YouTube connection settings. Keep the stream key private: anyone with it may be able to broadcast to your channel. See YouTube’s encoder setup instructions.
- In the encoder, create or open the scene you will use for the podcast.
- Add the schedule as an Image source if it is a graphic file. If the schedule is a web page, add a Browser Source and enter the page or overlay URL. YouTube’s overlay instructions describe adding an overlay URL as a browser source and matching its dimensions to the stream resolution: YouTube overlay instructions.
- Set the source dimensions to match the stream canvas or resolution, then place it where it does not cover speakers, captions, or other essential content. Check that the smallest text is readable in the preview at a phone-sized viewing scale.
- Preview the complete scene, including the schedule, before the event. If the run of show changes, update the image or page and check the result in the encoder again.
Browser-source compatibility varies by encoder. YouTube explicitly cautions that not every encoder supports browser sources in the same way, so check your encoder’s current documentation if the source does not appear or render correctly. YouTube’s overlay guide includes this compatibility caveat.
Choose an image or browser-based schedule

These are practical trade-offs, not a YouTube evaluation of particular schedule tools. YouTube’s encoder guide names software options such as OBS and Streamlabs, but the cited material does not establish a current feature, reliability, or price comparison between them. Choose an encoder that supports the source you need and whose scene workflow you can test confidently.

Test before the broadcast
YouTube recommends preparing the encoder well ahead of the event: set it up at least two hours in advance and start it at least 15 minutes before the scheduled time. Use the Live Control Room preview to check the outgoing picture and sound, then verify that the event is accessible from the channel or watch page and on mobile devices. - Confirm the schedule is visible and not cropped at the edges.
- Check that it does not obscure faces, captions, or other important material.
- Read the text in the preview at a small size, not only on your production monitor.
- Confirm the correct event and stream key are selected and that the Live Control Room receives the encoder feed.
- Listen for clear audio and watch for picture problems before the audience arrives.
- Verify the event watch page loads on a phone as well as on a computer.
Troubleshooting
The schedule does not appear in the stream
- Check the active scene: confirm the image or browser source is in the scene currently being sent to YouTube, and that the source is enabled and not hidden behind another layer.
- For a browser source: confirm the URL and dimensions, then check whether your encoder supports browser sources. YouTube warns that support varies by encoder.
- For an image: confirm the file loads in the encoder and that the source is not outside the canvas or covered by another element.
The schedule is too small or gets cut off
- Resize and reposition the source within the stream canvas. Match source dimensions to the stream resolution, as YouTube’s overlay workflow advises.
- Simplify the schedule if the text still cannot be read in the preview at phone size. A screen timetable should be scannable, not a full production document.
The schedule is out of date
A static image will continue showing its original content. Replace it in the encoder and preview the updated scene. If using a browser source, edit the hosted page and verify that the changed content renders before relying on it live.

The event is scheduled but viewers do not see a schedule on screen
That is expected unless the encoder scene includes a schedule source. The YouTube event listing and the video composition are separate; add the graphic or browser source to the encoder scene.
