The mailbox, greeting and PIN are managed by your mobile carrier; the Razr’s Voicemail settings are for handset-side access options.
Set up your voicemail mailbox and greeting

Touch and hold the voicemail key, usually the voicemail icon or the 1 key. This dials the voicemail mailbox associated with your service.

Follow the carrier’s audio prompts to initialize the mailbox and record a greeting. The prompts and setup requirements vary by carrier.

If you hear that voicemail has not been set up, contact your carrier for activation instructions. Motorola says carriers provide and manage voicemail, including PIN recovery and mailbox functions. See Motorola’s voicemail support for the United States.
The basic dial-in procedure is documented in Motorola’s 2024 razr user guide and 2023 razr user guide. Labels may vary by Razr generation, Android version, carrier and region.

Find voicemail settings on the Razr
To view phone-side options, open Phone > menu (⋮) > Settings > Voicemail. On a dual-SIM Razr, select the SIM or account that should handle voicemail first. The 2024 Motorola guide documents SIM selection for dual-SIM models.
Depending on the model and carrier, Advanced settings may let you select the voicemail service or change the access number the phone dials. These settings do not replace carrier mailbox setup. Notification and visual voicemail controls may appear only when supported by your carrier.

Change a greeting, reset a PIN or use visual voicemail
To change your greeting, call voicemail by holding the voicemail key and follow the carrier’s mailbox prompts. The exact menu sequence depends on the carrier. If you cannot access the mailbox or need to reset its PIN, contact the carrier; Motorola directs users there for PIN recovery and other mailbox functions.
Visual voicemail availability and setup are carrier-dependent. If the option is missing or does not work, check with your carrier about eligibility and setup for your account and location.

Troubleshoot voicemail problems
The voicemail key does not reach your mailbox
Check the Voicemail settings path above and, on a dual-SIM phone, confirm the correct SIM is selected. If the mailbox is not provisioned or the access number is unavailable, ask your carrier for help rather than trying a universal code or default PIN; those details vary.

Motorola’s general voicemail troubleshooting guide suggests force-stopping the Phone app. If that does not clear the notification, call your phone from another line, leave a short message, retrieve and delete it, then wait for the notification to disappear before disconnecting. This is general Motorola guidance, not a Razr-specific diagnosis.
