txAdmin is already bundled with FXServer, so you do not install it as a separate resource. Download a current recommended FXServer artifact, extract it to a writable folder, launch FXServer without +exec server.cfg, and open the panel URL printed in the console (normally http://localhost:40120 on the host). The first-run wizard links a Cfx.re account, creates the master login, and lets you deploy a new recipe or import an existing server.
Use txAdmin’s web panel to generate and validate server.cfg, start the server, watch the Live Console, manage resources and players, and create staff accounts. Keep the panel’s TCP port (usually 40120) separate from the game’s typical TCP/UDP port (30120); a working panel does not prove that players can reach the game.

What you need before installing
Prepare the host and credentials before opening the wizard. The account running FXServer must be able to write to the artifact directory, the server-data directory, and txAdmin’s data directory.
- A current recommended FXServer artifact for your operating system.
- A dedicated, writable folder for the extracted artifact. Avoid a system directory that blocks write access.
- A Cfx.re account for the server owner and a server registration key generated in the Cfx.re Portal.
- Firewall or provider access for the ports your players and administrators will use.
- A database and credentials if the selected recipe or framework requires one.
- For an existing server, a complete backup of the server-data folder and
txDatabefore changing anything.
Managed hosts may supply the artifact, port bindings, and panel address through their own control panel. In that case, follow the host’s startup instructions and use txAdmin only after confirming which ports and folders the host controls.

Opening http://localhost:40120 proves only that the web panel is reachable from the host itself. Players outside the host still need the game endpoint exposed through the operating-system firewall, cloud firewall, NAT, and provider network.
Install FXServer and launch txAdmin
Windows
- Download the current recommended Windows FXServer artifact from the Cfx.re server-download service.
- Extract all files to a dedicated folder such as
C:FXServerartifact, or another path where the service account has write permission. - Start
FXServer.exe. You can double-click it or launch it from PowerShell in that folder. - For the initial launch, do not append
+exec server.cfg. Starting without that argument lets FXServer start txAdmin in its monitor mode and display the one-time setup address and PIN. - Read the console output. If a browser does not open automatically, copy the printed URL into a browser on the same machine. The usual local address is
http://localhost:40120.
Linux
- Download the current recommended Linux FXServer artifact and extract it into a dedicated writable directory.
- Open a shell in the extracted directory and ensure the launcher is executable, then run
./run.sh. - As on Windows, omit
+exec server.cfgfor the first launch so txAdmin can initialize in monitor mode. - Copy the URL and setup PIN printed by the process. From the same machine, the normal local URL is
http://localhost:40120; from another machine, use the host address and the configured panel port only after allowing that access deliberately.
When a host manages the process
Some managed FiveM hosts do not expose a normal shell or artifact directory. They may install FXServer, reserve 40120, and provide a panel URL automatically. Confirm whether the host supports txAdmin, which game and web ports are mapped, where backups are stored, and whether you can change the FXServer artifact version. Do not assume that a host’s web-panel URL uses port 40120 externally.

Complete the first-run txAdmin wizard
Use the setup PIN and create the master account
- Open the URL shown by FXServer and enter the one-time setup PIN from the console. Treat the PIN as a secret; anyone with it can claim the initial setup.
- Authenticate with the Cfx.re account that will own the server. The first linked account becomes the txAdmin master account.
- Create a separate backup password when prompted. Store it in a password manager and do not reuse the Cfx.re password.
- Finish the wizard and sign in. Add individual staff accounts later rather than sharing the owner login.
If the PIN has expired or the console is no longer showing it, stop and restart FXServer in its initial monitor mode to generate a new setup flow. Do not paste the PIN into a public chat, ticket, or startup script.

Deploy a new FiveM server with a recipe
Pick a compatible recipe and an empty directory
- In the wizard, choose the option to create a new server.
- Select a recommended recipe compatible with FiveM and the framework you intend to run.
- Choose an empty deployment directory. Do not point a new deployment at another server’s live resource tree.
- Read the recipe source and task list before clicking deploy.
A recipe is a YAML document containing metadata, variables, and sequential tasks. Tasks can download files, write configuration, unzip archives, replace strings, connect to databases, and run SQL queries. The deployer stops at the first failed task, so the first error is usually more useful than a series of repeated redeploy attempts.
Review variables and destructive actions
- Confirm the minimum FXServer version required by the recipe.
- Check every repository, branch, tag, or archive reference for availability.
- Identify database host, port, database name, user, and password fields. Use a dedicated test database for an unfamiliar recipe.
- Look for SQL that creates, drops, truncates, or replaces tables. A recipe option that removes existing data must never be enabled against a production database without a verified backup.
- Check whether the recipe downloads from services that can impose rate limits, including GitHub.
Supply the server identity and registration key
- Enter the public server name that should appear in the server list.
- Generate a FiveM server registration key in the Cfx.re Portal and paste it into the wizard. Keep the key private and limit its use to this server.
- Enter database details only when the selected framework requires them. Verify the credentials independently before deployment.
- Start the deployment and watch each task. Let the process finish rather than closing the browser while files or SQL are being applied.
Handle a failed task
Read the failed task’s exact message and correct that cause before trying again. Common causes include an unavailable repository, an invalid branch or tag, a network interruption, a GitHub rate limit, incorrect database credentials, insufficient filesystem permissions, or invalid SQL. If a task partially changed the folder or database, restore the clean test copy before rerunning; repeatedly deploying over partial output can hide the original failure.
Import an existing server safely
- Stop the existing server and copy the complete server-data folder to a separate backup location.
- Back up txAdmin’s
txDatadirectory as well. It contains panel state that is separate from your resources. - In the wizard, select the existing-server path.
- Point txAdmin at the correct server-data directory and the existing
server.cfg. Selecting a parent folder or an old test copy can make the panel appear empty or start the wrong resources. - Do not run a new-server recipe over this directory. Import the files as they are, then edit configuration from txAdmin after verifying the backup.
- Review the imported profile and generated launch settings before starting the production process.
Inspect the generated configuration before starting
Check server.cfg
Open the server.cfg editor in txAdmin and validate the file before saving. Confirm the server name, registration key setting, endpoint lines, database connection, resource declarations, and any license or framework variables. Remove stale paths that point to a different machine. Keep secrets out of public repositories and screenshots.
Confirm resources and startup order
Verify that every resource named by ensure or an equivalent startup command exists in the resources directory. A missing dependency can stop a framework from loading even when FXServer itself starts. Keep core resources before scripts that depend on them, and use the console’s first error to identify the missing or misordered dependency.

Save and run
- Use txAdmin’s Save and Run Server action after validating the configuration.
- Open Live Console immediately and watch the complete startup, not just the first successful lines.
- Wait for resources, database connections, and the network endpoint to finish initializing.
- Connect from a FiveM client on the same network first, then test from a genuinely external connection.
Make the server reachable to players
Configure the game endpoint shown in server.cfg; 30120 is the typical FiveM value. Allow that port for both TCP and UDP where the host firewall requires separate rules. If the server is behind a router, forward the game port to the host’s private address. Cloud or managed providers may require a separate inbound rule in their dashboard.

Keep txAdmin administration restricted to trusted addresses where possible. Never publish the panel password or setup PIN, and do not treat a successful browser connection as proof that the game endpoint is configured.
Create staff accounts and limit permissions
- Open Admin Manager in txAdmin.
- Create one account for each staff member instead of sharing the master account.
- Assign only the permissions required for that role, such as viewing logs, restarting resources, moderating players, or editing configuration.
- Remove accounts when staff leave and rotate credentials after a suspected disclosure.
txAdmin provides server and resource start, stop, and restart controls; a server.cfg editor and validator; Live Console; logs; performance visibility; player moderation; allowlisting; and an in-game admin menu. Grant access to each feature deliberately because configuration and restart privileges can affect the whole server.

txAdmin v8.0.0 introduced TXHOST_* environment variables for advanced or provider-managed deployments. The older txAdminPort, txAdminInterface, and txDataPath ConVars are marked deprecated, and newer environment settings take priority when both forms are present.

Do not copy an old launch example unchanged into a current installation. Check the version-specific txAdmin reference for the exact variable names and precedence rules, especially when a provider supplies environment variables or when the panel is behind a proxy. Keep one authoritative configuration source so an old ConVar does not silently override your intended setting.
Troubleshoot the most common setup failures
The browser does not open
Read the FXServer console for the printed URL and port. Try http://localhost:40120 on the host, confirm that FXServer is still running, and check whether another process already occupies the panel port. On a remote machine, use the host address only after confirming the panel is listening on the intended interface and that TCP access is allowed.
The setup PIN or account link fails
Restart the initial monitor-mode launch to obtain a fresh PIN, then complete the Cfx.re authentication in the same browser session. Ensure the machine clock and outbound network access are working. Never reuse a PIN that has already been submitted.

A recipe stops during download
Inspect the URL, branch, tag, and repository permissions in the failed task. Retry only after confirming the repository is available and that the host can reach it. A rate limit or transient network failure may require waiting or using a supported source, but do not substitute arbitrary files for a recipe’s expected version.
Database tasks fail
Test the database credentials from the host, verify the database exists, and check that the account has the privileges the framework expects. Read the SQL error for syntax or collation problems. Restore the test database if an earlier task partially modified it, and never experiment on production without a restorable backup.
FXServer starts but resources do not
Use Live Console to find the first missing dependency, invalid path, or script error. Confirm that the resource folder name matches the startup declaration exactly and that the artifact meets the framework’s minimum version. Fix one dependency at a time, then restart from a clean state.
The panel works but players cannot connect
Compare the endpoint in server.cfg with the port opened at the operating-system firewall, cloud firewall, router, and provider. Check both TCP and UDP for the game port. Test from outside the host’s network; a local client can succeed even when NAT or upstream filtering blocks everyone else.
Backups and routine operation
- Keep dated copies of server-data, txData, and the production database before recipe changes, framework upgrades, or bulk resource updates.
- Test that a backup can actually be restored to a separate directory and database.
- Record the FXServer artifact version, txAdmin version, recipe revision, and configuration changes for each deployment.
- Use txAdmin’s logs and Live Console to investigate the first warning or error instead of repeatedly restarting.
- Review staff permissions and remove unused accounts periodically.
- Keep the panel and game ports documented separately so a firewall change cannot accidentally expose administration.
Which setup route should you choose?
Choose a self-managed Windows host when you want a graphical local workflow and control over files and firewall rules. Choose Linux when you prefer shell-based service management and automation. A new recipe is fastest for a clean server, provided you inspect its YAML tasks and use an empty folder. Import an existing server when preserving a known resource set matters more than recipe convenience. Managed hosting reduces operating-system and network work, but verify its artifact updates, txAdmin access, backups, port mappings, and permission model before committing production data.
Cfx.re describes the recipe deployer as creating a server “in under 60 seconds”; that is a vendor claim, not an independently measured benchmark. Actual deployment time depends on downloads, database work, host performance, and the recipe’s task list.
