Set up the Google TV Streamer (4K) through the Google Home phone flow, then finish the prompts on your TV. You can select apps during setup and install others later; your Google TV Watchlist should appear when the Streamer is signed in to the same Google Account. App installation is not a full device clone: Google’s setup guidance does not promise that app data, service sign-ins, settings, or app order will transfer.
Before you start
Have these ready:
- Google TV Streamer (4K) and a TV or display with an HDMI connection.
- A Google Account you want to use on the Streamer.
- An internet connection. Google TV setup supports Wi-Fi or Ethernet; Ethernet is optional if you use Wi-Fi.
Google’s Streamer-specific instructions use Google Home on a phone and then have you finish setup on the TV. Follow the prompts shown for the Streamer; setup screens can differ from the general instructions for other Google TV devices. Set up the Google TV Streamer
- Connect the Streamer to your TV and power, then select the TV’s HDMI input for the device.
- Use Google Home on your phone and follow the Streamer setup prompts. Choose the Google Account you want associated with the device and connect it to your network when prompted.
- When setup offers apps to select on your phone, choose the ones you want. Google says the TV installs apps selected in this step.
- Continue on the TV and follow the remaining on-screen prompts. You can use the Voice Remote to navigate. When setup is complete, Google’s instructions show the message “Welcome. Your Google TV Streamer is ready!”
- Wait for the selected apps to install before checking whether they are available on the home screen.
Google documents selecting and installing apps during setup, but does not describe that process as copying an old device. Treat app data, individual service logins, settings, and the order of apps as separate: check them on the Streamer rather than assuming they have carried over.
Check apps and install anything missing
Look for apps already installed
After reaching the home screen, open the Apps area and check the “Apps from my other devices” row if it appears. This can help you find apps associated with your other devices. Its presence does not mean all apps or their data have been transferred.

Search or browse for an app
If an app is missing, use Google TV search or browse the Apps area and install it if it is available for your device. Google’s Google TV app installation guide explains how to search, browse, and install apps.
Check service sign-ins
Open the apps you plan to use and check whether each is signed in. Google’s setup guidance does not say that service credentials migrate when an app is installed, so be prepared to sign in again if an app asks.

Find your Google TV Watchlist
The Google TV Watchlist is tied to your Google Account, not a transfer of the old device’s local setup. Google says the list is available across devices signed in to the same account. On the Streamer, open Google TV and look for your saved titles in the Watchlist. The Watchlist help page explains how to save movies and shows for later.

- Confirm the Streamer is signed in to the same Google Account where you saved the titles.
- If you use multiple profiles, check that the intended profile is selected; Google TV profile settings can affect what you see.
- Keep in mind that some streaming-service content cannot be added to the Google TV Watchlist.

Manage services used for recommendations
Google TV lets you add or remove streaming services to influence recommendations and content discovery. This setting is separate from the subscriptions you pay for: removing a service from Google TV does not cancel its subscription.
