Put the ROG Xbox Ally in the DG310 stand, connect its fixed USB-C host cable, supply the dock with a separate 100W-or-higher USB-C Power Delivery charger, then attach HDMI, USB and Ethernet accessories. The dock requires no driver installation; display and charging results depend on the Ally, cable and connected display supporting the required standards.

What the DG310 setup requires

The Bulwark Dock DG310 is designed around the ROG Xbox Ally family. Its single host connection carries video, USB data and power between the handheld and dock, so the Ally port you use must support both USB-C DisplayPort Alt Mode and USB Power Delivery. ASUS says the dock works with Windows 11 or later, macOS 12.3 or later, and Android 14 or later devices that provide those USB-C capabilities. The dock is optimized for ROG Xbox Ally hardware, including automatic Game Mode and one-touch Bluetooth pairing.

  • Supported stand fit: ROG Xbox Ally (2025), ROG Xbox Ally X (2025) and ROG Xbox Ally X20 (2026) are the models specifically documented for the stand.
  • Separate charger: No charger is included. Use a USB-C PD charger rated at 100W or higher when you want the dock’s full 80W passthrough capability.
  • Display cable: Use an HDMI 2.1 cable if you are targeting 4K at 144Hz or other high-bandwidth modes.
  • Network cable: A standard Gigabit Ethernet cable is needed for wired networking.
  • Operating system: The dock does not need a special driver, but the connected device still has to meet the documented operating-system and USB-C requirements.

Other compatible USB-C devices can use the ports, but their physical dimensions may not match the Ally-shaped stand. Do not force a larger or differently shaped handheld into the cradle, and keep the handheld’s screen, intake and exhaust openings clear.

Know every port and its limit

Understanding the layout prevents most setup mistakes. The DG310 has six functional connections: one display output, three USB-A data ports, one wired-network port and one USB-C power input. The USB-C host lead is permanently attached rather than being a removable cable.

Connection Specification What it is for
Fixed USB-C host cable 60 cm, 90-degree connector, USB 5Gbps, up to 80W output Connects the dock to the Ally and carries display, USB and power signals
HDMI output HDMI 2.1; up to 3840×2160 at 144Hz or 7680×4320 at 30Hz One external TV or monitor
USB-A port 1 USB 3.2 Gen 1, 5Gbps, 5V/0.9A Controller, keyboard, mouse, storage and similar peripherals
USB-A port 2 USB 3.2 Gen 1, 5Gbps, 5V/0.9A Additional wired peripheral or storage device
USB-A port 3 USB 3.2 Gen 1, 5Gbps, 5V/1.5A Peripheral that benefits from the higher available USB current
USB-C power input 20V/5A, up to 100W input Accepts the separate USB-C PD charger
Ethernet 1Gbps Wired internet or local-network connection

There is only one HDMI output. The DG310 can drive one external TV or monitor at a time; it is not a multi-monitor dock.

Step-by-step: connect the Ally, power and display

  1. Place the handheld in the stand. Seat the ROG Xbox Ally so it rests securely in the cradle. Keep the display visible and do not cover the handheld’s ventilation openings. The stand dimensions are tailored to the three documented Ally models.
  2. Connect the host cable. Plug the dock’s fixed 60cm, 90-degree USB-C cable into a compatible USB-C port on the Ally. Insert it fully. The port must provide DisplayPort Alt Mode and USB Power Delivery; a USB-C connector that supports charging or data alone will not provide the complete dock feature set.
  3. Connect power to the dock. Plug a USB-C PD charger rated at 100W or more into the DG310’s USB-C power-input port. The charger is a separate purchase. A lower-rated adapter may not provide the dock’s maximum 80W passthrough to the Ally.
  4. Connect the display. Run an HDMI cable from the dock’s HDMI 2.1 output to one TV or monitor, then select that display’s matching HDMI input. For 4K/144Hz, use an HDMI 2.1 cable and make sure the display’s input supports that mode.
  5. Attach wired accessories. Plug a controller, keyboard, mouse, headset adapter, USB flash drive or other USB device into any of the three USB-A ports. Connect Ethernet to the dock’s network socket if you want a wired connection.
  6. Power on. Turn on the Ally and the external display. The Ally should detect the dock’s display and USB devices without a driver installation. On supported TVs, ASUS says the dock automatically enables TV Game Mode.
  7. Pair wireless accessories if needed. Put the controller, keyboard, headset or other Bluetooth accessory into its pairing mode. Press and hold the DG310 Bluetooth button for five seconds. The accessory pairs directly with the ROG Xbox Ally, avoiding a trip through the handheld’s Bluetooth menus.

Connect the charger before judging charging performance. The dock’s 80W figure describes maximum passthrough from a suitable 100W-or-higher USB-C PD supply; the Ally, cable losses and its own charging policy can determine the actual rate shown in Windows.

Configure the external screen correctly

4K at 144Hz

The documented maximum is 3840×2160 at 144Hz. Reaching it requires every part of the signal path to support the mode: the Ally’s USB-C video output, the DG310, an HDMI 2.1 cable and a TV or monitor with a 4K/144Hz-capable HDMI input. Some displays expose their highest refresh rate only after an input setting such as “Enhanced,” “High bandwidth” or a similar vendor label is enabled; use the display’s own manual for that control.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

8K at 30Hz

The alternative maximum listed by ASUS is 7680×4320 at 30Hz. This is a bandwidth ceiling, not a promise that every Ally model can render games at 8K. The handheld, game, operating-system settings, cable and display all remain limiting factors.

HDR, VRR and ALLM

The display path supports HDR, variable refresh rate (VRR) and Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM) when the Ally, cable and TV or monitor support them. If one component lacks a feature, the chain falls back to the capabilities it shares. Enable HDR or VRR in the Ally’s display settings only after the display is operating at the desired resolution and refresh rate.

When the screen is blank

First select the HDMI input physically connected to the dock. Then reseat both USB-C and HDMI plugs, confirm that the display input accepts the selected resolution and refresh rate, and try the Ally’s other compatible USB-C port if the model has one. A USB-C port without DisplayPort Alt Mode cannot produce a picture through this dock.

Connect controllers, keyboards, storage and Ethernet

Wired USB accessories

All three USB-A sockets are USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports rated at 5Gbps. They are suitable for wired game controllers, keyboards, mice, USB flash drives and comparable low- or moderate-power devices. Two ports provide 5V/0.9A; the third provides 5V/1.5A. Put a device that needs more bus power on the 1.5A port, but do not treat that socket as a substitute for a powered USB hub for high-draw hardware.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

When several peripherals are attached, connect the most important input devices first. If a storage device disconnects when another accessory starts, remove the second device temporarily and check whether the combined power demand is too high. The 5Gbps rating is shared by the dock’s USB implementation and does not guarantee that every drive will sustain 5Gbps in real transfers.

Wired networking

The Ethernet port supports up to 1Gbps. Connect it to a router, switch or wall jack with an Ethernet cable, then allow Windows to obtain an address automatically unless your network requires a manual configuration. A Gigabit link can reduce wireless interference during downloads and online play, but actual throughput still depends on the network equipment, service plan and remote server.

Bluetooth accessories

For the dock’s one-touch process, place the accessory in pairing mode first. Hold the DG310’s Bluetooth button for five seconds and wait for the accessory to complete pairing with the Ally. This method is intended for the ROG Xbox Ally setup; if an accessory was previously bonded to another device, disconnect or unpair it there before retrying. Keep the accessory nearby during the initial pairing.

Power, charging and cable choices

The DG310 accepts up to 100W at its USB-C power input and can pass through up to 80W through its fixed host cable. ASUS recommends a USB-C PD charger rated at least 100W for that maximum. The charger is not in the box, so the dock cannot provide its advertised full passthrough immediately unless you supply a suitable adapter.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  • A charger rated below 100W may work, but the Ally can report slower charging and the available passthrough may be lower.
  • Use a genuine USB-C PD supply and a cable appropriate for its rated power. A USB-C plug alone does not prove that a charger supports the required PD profile.
  • The dock’s 80W figure is an upper limit, not a guarantee that every Ally state will draw 80W. Battery level, thermal conditions, game load and the handheld’s charging controls affect the observed rate.
  • If you are troubleshooting, connect the charger directly to the dock’s power-input port rather than to a USB-A adapter or an unrelated hub.

Automatic features and what they do not change

The DG310 is optimized for the ROG Xbox Ally series. On supported TVs, ASUS says it automatically enables TV Game Mode, which can reduce the need to search through the television’s picture menus. The dock’s Bluetooth button provides a five-second pairing shortcut. Neither feature removes the underlying compatibility requirements: the Ally still needs a DisplayPort Alt Mode/USB PD host port, and the TV must support the requested display mode.

Troubleshooting by symptom

The Ally does not charge or reports slow charging

  1. Verify that the charger is USB-C PD and rated at least 100W.
  2. Confirm that it is plugged into the DG310’s USB-C power-input socket, not one of the USB-A ports.
  3. Reseat the dock’s host plug at the Ally and make sure the connector is fully inserted.
  4. Test the Ally’s other compatible USB-C port, if its model provides one.
  5. Check whether the charging message changes after disconnecting high-power USB accessories.

These checks follow the dock’s documented power and interface requirements; they are not a guarantee of a universal fault remedy.

The TV or monitor shows no signal

  • Select the HDMI input where the dock is connected.
  • Reseat or replace the HDMI cable; use HDMI 2.1 for 4K/144Hz targets.
  • Confirm that the Ally port supports DisplayPort Alt Mode.
  • Start with a lower resolution or refresh rate, then increase it after a stable picture appears.
  • Try the Ally’s other compatible USB-C port and, if possible, another display input.

A USB controller, keyboard or drive is missing

Move the device to another USB-A socket and reconnect it after the Ally is powered on. Check that the plug is fully seated, then test with only that device attached. For a drive that repeatedly disconnects, use the 1.5A port and remove other bus-powered accessories to reduce the load.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Ethernet is not connected

Check both ends of the network cable, verify link lights on the router or switch, and reconnect the cable after the dock is powered. The port is limited to 1Gbps; a faster internet tier cannot make the dock negotiate above that rate.

Bluetooth pairing fails

Put the accessory back into pairing mode, hold the dock button for a full five seconds and keep the accessory close. If it remains connected to a phone, console or computer, disconnect it there first. Restarting the accessory before repeating the sequence can clear an incomplete pairing attempt.

The handheld becomes hot in the stand

Remove anything covering the Ally’s intake or exhaust, leave clearance around the sides and top, and avoid placing the dock on soft fabric that blocks airflow. The stand is shaped for the documented Ally models, but correct placement still matters during sustained gaming.

Practical connection layouts

TV gaming with wired controls

Place the Ally in the stand, connect the host lead and 100W-or-higher PD charger, then run HDMI to the TV. Put the wired controller in one USB-A port and a keyboard or mouse in another. Add Ethernet to the network port if you prefer a wired connection. Turn on the TV and Ally, select the correct HDMI input and choose the desired display mode in the Ally.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Desk monitor with storage

Use the same host and power connections, then connect the monitor by HDMI and a USB flash drive or external storage device to a 5Gbps USB-A port. If the drive is bus-powered and unstable alongside other devices, move it to the 1.5A port or disconnect unnecessary accessories.

Wireless couch setup

Connect power and HDMI, then pair a Bluetooth controller or headset by placing it in pairing mode and holding the DG310 button for five seconds. This leaves the USB-A ports available for occasional storage or charging accessories while keeping the normal game-control setup wireless.

What is in the box and the physical specifications

The package contains the DG310 dock, a user manual and a warranty card. It does not contain a charger. The dock measures 181.6 x 86.6 x 31.6 mm and weighs approximately 262 ±10 g. Its fixed host lead is 60 cm long, so position the dock close enough to the Ally for the right-angle connector to reach without strain.

Item Documented value Practical implication
Maximum passthrough Up to 80W Requires a 100W-or-higher USB-C PD charger; actual Ally charging can be lower
Power-input ceiling 20V/5A, up to 100W Use a charger and cable rated for the required PD profile
External display count One HDMI display No second monitor output on the DG310
USB data speed Three USB-A ports at 5Gbps Suitable for common controllers, input devices and storage
Network speed 1Gbps Ethernet Wired networking is capped at Gigabit
Stand fit ROG Xbox Ally (2025), Ally X (2025), Ally X20 (2026) Other USB-C devices may work electrically but are not promised to fit the cradle

Final pre-game checklist

  • The Ally is seated without covering its screen or vents.
  • The fixed USB-C host cable is fully inserted into a DisplayPort Alt Mode and USB PD-capable Ally port.
  • A separate USB-C PD charger rated at least 100W is connected to the dock’s power input.
  • The HDMI cable and display input support the resolution and refresh rate you selected.
  • Only one external display is connected, because the DG310 has one HDMI output.
  • USB accessories are distributed across the three 5Gbps ports, with higher-draw devices using the 1.5A port when appropriate.
  • Ethernet is connected if a wired network is required.
  • Bluetooth accessories are in pairing mode before you hold the dock button for five seconds.
  • The Ally and display are powered on, and the TV is set to the dock’s HDMI input.

With those conditions met, the DG310 provides a single-cable desk or TV connection for the ROG Xbox Ally family: video over HDMI 2.1, up to 80W passthrough from the correct charger, three 5Gbps USB-A ports, Gigabit Ethernet and a shortcut for Bluetooth pairing.
