GTA 6 parental controls are set through the child’s PlayStation or Xbox family account—not through a separate GTA 6 menu. On PS5, use Settings > Family and Parental Controls > Family Management to set the child’s game-age level and other limits. On Xbox Series X|S, manage content, multiplayer, communication, and screen time through the Xbox Family Settings app. GTA 6 does not yet have a confirmed age rating in the official listings reviewed, so check the rating for your country again when it is assigned.
What age rating is GTA 6?
GTA 6’s final age rating has not been confirmed in the official sources reviewed. PlayStation’s US listing says the game’s age ratings are unconfirmed; Xbox lists it as “Rating Pending.” The ESRB defines that status as not yet having a final ESRB rating. Do not use GTA V’s rating as a substitute: PlayStation’s page refers to earlier GTA ratings only as context, not as GTA 6’s assigned rating. Ratings also vary by country, so check the local store listing and relevant rating board once GTA 6 has a final classification. PlayStation’s current listing warns that Grand Theft Auto games regularly feature profanity, violence, sexual themes, and depictions of illegal acts, and are generally not recommended for children.

Set age restrictions for GTA 6 on PS5
Sony requires a family to be created and the child added as a family member before you can set parental controls. You can then restrict games and apps by age level.

- Create or update the family: Add the child to your PlayStation family as a family member.
- Open the child’s controls on the console: Go to Settings > Family and Parental Controls > Family Management, select the child, then choose the parental control you want to change.
- Set the game restriction: Choose Age Level for Games and Apps and select the restriction that fits your child. Since GTA 6’s final rating is unconfirmed, review the setting again after the local rating is published.
- Adjust other controls if needed: Review communication and user-generated-content permissions, privacy, playtime, and monthly spending limits in the child’s settings.
Sony also supports account management through the PlayStation Family app and web account management. For controls to work, Sony says the child should have verified their email and be signed in. Set GTA 6 restrictions on Xbox Series X|S
Use the Xbox Family Settings app with the child’s account in your Microsoft family group. Xbox does not document a single GTA 6-specific menu sequence; instead, configure the child’s general content and online settings, then check the game’s final local rating in the store or rating-board listing.

- Set up the child’s family account: Add the child’s account to the Microsoft family group used to manage Xbox settings.
- Open Xbox Family Settings: Select the child’s account and set the appropriate content restrictions.
- Review online access: Set the child’s multiplayer and communication preferences, and manage friend access as appropriate.
- Set time and purchase limits: Use the app’s screen-time schedules, spending review, and purchase-request features if you need them.
- Check the rating before allowing access: Once GTA 6 receives a final rating in your region, compare that classification with the child’s content restriction.
The app manages Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One activity. Applicable content and screen-time limits can also extend to Windows PCs when the child signs in with the family-linked Microsoft account and Xbox profile. Details are on the Xbox Family Settings app page.

- Privacy and user-generated content: Check the platform’s privacy and content-sharing permissions.
When to check the settings again
Rockstar, PlayStation, and Xbox list GTA 6 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S with a planned release date of November 19, 2026. Ratings are still unconfirmed in the official listings described above, so check the local store page or rating-board listing near release and adjust the child’s restriction if necessary. The platform controls apply through family accounts; the official sources reviewed do not describe a separate GTA 6 parental-control panel.
