How to host a Cozy Builder co-op game
Use this sequence when you want your game to be the session that friends join.
- Launch the Steam version. Start Cozy Builder from your Steam library and wait until you reach the game’s main menu.
- Open Multiplayer. Select the menu item labeled Multiplayer. This is the starting point for the documented co-op flow.

What co-op supports
Up to four players
Pangea Game Studios says players can play solo or in co-op with up to four players. That is the developer’s published capacity; it is not a claim that four additional guests can join one host. Plan the group around a maximum of four participants unless a later official update changes the limit.
One shared valley
Co-op takes place in the same Cozy Vineyard Valley. Players are not being sent to separate copies of the map for isolated tasks. The point of the session is to build together in a common space.
Shared objectives
The developer describes the group as working toward shared objectives. Treat progress as a cooperative effort rather than assuming that each participant receives an entirely separate objective track. The available material does not specify how individual rewards, permissions, or progression are divided, so those details should not be inferred from the player limit.
Choosing the easiest joining method
Use the in-game Multiplayer menu when both players are already at the title screen or when you want to keep the entire process inside Cozy Builder. It makes the required game context clear: the host has opened Multiplayer and the guest is looking for that hosted session.

Use Steam Friends & Chat when the friend is already looking at the host’s Steam profile. Right-clicking the host’s name and selecting the game’s join option avoids asking the guest to search through menus first. This method still depends on the host having created a session through Host Game; it is not a replacement for hosting.
Neither method represents a second co-op mode. They are two discovery paths for the same Steam-hosted game. The host remains the player who starts the session, while the guest chooses whether to enter from the game menu or Steam’s friend list.
What to do if the friend cannot join
Work through the documented requirements in order. This avoids changing network settings that the available instructions do not mention.
1. Confirm both players launched the Steam version
Check that each person started Cozy Builder through Steam. The published multiplayer instructions are for the Steam release, and the official materials do not establish a console procedure or a separate launcher workflow.

2. Confirm the Steam friendship
Make sure the two accounts are Steam friends, not merely using the same external chat service. The direct-join instruction specifically depends on the host appearing in Steam Friends & Chat.
3. Recreate the host session from the correct menu
Have the host return to the game’s Multiplayer menu and select Host Game again. A friend who is waiting for a join option cannot use the documented flow if the host has only opened a solo session.
4. Try the other join path
If the guest cannot find the game in the in-game Multiplayer menu, close that menu and try Steam Friends & Chat: right-click the host’s name and look for the game’s join command. If the direct command is unavailable, have both players return to the in-game Multiplayer menu and retry from there.

5. Check the exact symptom before escalating
- No game appears in the in-game list: Recheck that the host selected Host Game and that both players are on Steam.
- The game’s join command is missing in Steam Friends & Chat: Recheck the Steam friendship and ask the host to create the session again.
- The guest still cannot connect after both methods fail: Use the game’s Steam discussions or the developer’s Discord for current support.
The available official guidance does not publish a definitive port-forwarding checklist, NAT compatibility matrix, or host-only task list. It also does not provide a documented cross-platform connection procedure. Because of that, do not treat an internet port number, router rule, or console workaround as an official fix for this game.

Does Cozy Builder support cross-play?
Cross-play is not confirmed by the official materials documented for this guide. The confirmed instructions describe Steam menus, Steam Friends & Chat, and the Steam release. A current review of the available information found no official confirmation of console multiplayer, cross-platform multiplayer, or cross-platform saves.
For a dependable plan, assume that the documented setup is Steam-based: the host and guests should all use the Steam version. Organize no more than four players for the documented co-op capacity. If a fifth person is waiting, the official information provides no larger-session setting or overflow mode to use.
Agree on the shared goal
Because everyone works in one Cozy Vineyard Valley toward shared objectives, decide how the group wants to divide building work before starting. The game materials establish the shared environment and objectives, but they do not publish a detailed role system or task-permission model. Avoid promising a particular division of labor that the game has not documented.
Keep support information handy
