How to Set Up ChangeTower Email Alerts for Webpage Changes

Create a ChangeTower monitor for the exact page, choose what counts as a change, verify email alerts are on in Details, and set a suitable check schedule.
Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

To get ChangeTower email alerts, create a monitor for the exact webpage, choose the changes to track, confirm email alerts are on in the monitor’s Details, and click Create. ChangeTower saves an initial snapshot first; you should expect an email only after a later check detects a change.

Set up an email alert for one webpage

  1. In ChangeTower, select New Monitor.
  2. Choose a setup route. For one page, select manual URL entry and enter the page’s exact URL—not just its homepage. Other routes include Smart Monitor, bulk setup, and scanning an entire website.
  3. Choose what to track. Depending on the route, you can monitor content changes or keywords, or describe a change in natural language with Smart Monitor. Where those controls are available, focus on a relevant page area or ignore elements that change frequently.
  4. Open Details. Name the monitor so it is easy to recognize, and optionally organize it with folders or tags. Choose a checking frequency or schedule, then verify that the email-alert setting is enabled.
  5. Click Create. ChangeTower checks the page and saves a starting snapshot. Subsequent checks compare the page with that saved version and notify you when a change is detected.
  6. Review detected changes on the Notifications page.

ChangeTower says email is enabled by default when creating a monitor, but its setup guide also presents an on/off control. Check the setting displayed for your monitor rather than assuming it is on.

Choose the right kind of monitor

Manual URL monitoring

Use manual URL entry when you know which single page matters and want to track changes such as edits to its text or a keyword appearing. It is a direct route for watching a specific page.

Smart Monitor for targeted alerts

Choose Smart Monitor, enter the page URL, and describe the event in the Notify me when field. ChangeTower’s examples include a footer being updated or removed, a new changelog feature appearing, or a data subprocessor being added. You can optionally focus on a page section or add manual user actions.

#1 Best Overall
Web Alert (Website Change Monitor)
  • Notification when a website of your choice changes
  • Visual difference of all modifications to a website detected (diff)
  • Choose exactly which part or parts of a page to watch
  • Check pages even behind logins, HTTP Authentications, form posts or long navigational sequences

In Details, set the monitor name, tags, email alerts, frequency, and save options, then create the monitor. When an alert arrives, review its justification to understand why ChangeTower considered the change a match.

Bulk setup or entire-website scanning

Use bulk setup when you need to create multiple monitors, or choose the entire-website scanning route when the monitoring scope is broader than one page. These routes differ in scope from entering one page’s URL; choose the one that matches what you intend to watch.

Create a monitor from your browser

ChangeTower’s browser extension can start a monitor for the page open in a Chromium-based browser. Install it from the Chrome Web Store, sign in, open the target webpage, select the extension, describe what you want to be notified about, and choose Create Monitor. The monitor is then managed in your ChangeTower workspace. ChangeTower says extension-created monitors count toward the plan’s page limit.

Set or change the checking frequency

ChangeTower’s help page lists intervals from every 5 minutes to every 30 days. Actual choices may depend on your plan, so check ChangeTower’s current plan details before relying on a particular interval.

For an existing monitor, open it from the monitor list, select Edit, go to Details, and choose a new frequency. The new schedule applies from the next check.

  • Choose a faster schedule when timing matters, such as for prices, stock availability, or deadlines.
  • Choose a slower schedule for pages that rarely change.
  • More frequent checks do not mean an email for every check: alerts depend on a detected change or a matching Smart Monitor criterion.

If several edits happen between checks, ChangeTower may compare the latest page version with the previous saved snapshot, so the changes can be grouped into one detected change.

Troubleshoot missing or unexpected email alerts

No email arrived after creating the monitor

Creating a monitor establishes the initial snapshot; it does not necessarily trigger an alert. If the page has not changed since that snapshot, silence is expected. Check the Notifications page for detected changes.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The monitor detects changes but email is not enabled

Open the monitor’s settings and inspect Details. ChangeTower says email is on by default for new monitors, but because the setup exposes a toggle, verify that it is enabled.

The alert is too broad or misses the change you care about

Review what the monitor tracks. Where available, narrow it to a page area, use keyword tracking, or use Smart Monitor’s Notify me when description for a specific event. Smart Monitor’s notification justification can help explain why a change matched its criterion.

The timing is wrong

Edit the monitor’s frequency under Edit > Details. Keep in mind that a changed schedule takes effect from the next check and the interval choices may depend on your plan.

If your goal is to capture a webpage rather than receive ongoing change notifications, ScreenshotNeo provides a screenshot API and MCP server. A single request can return an image or PDF; it is not a substitute for ChangeTower’s ongoing change monitoring.

Example cURL request (replace YOUR_API_KEY with your key and adapt the target URL):

curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp

See the ScreenshotNeo documentation for request options. Cookie and consent banners are accepted and removed before capture, along with 60+ known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets; each step can be turned off. Bot checks, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits are not billed. An MCP server gives AI agents tools to take screenshots, get page information, and capture PDFs. The free plan includes 1,000 screenshots a month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I receive alerts only when a specific word appears?

Yes. ChangeTower’s setup options include keyword changes; choose that tracking option when creating the monitor.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Will ChangeTower email me for every scheduled check?

No. Email alerts depend on a detected change or a Smart Monitor criterion matching, not simply on a check taking place.
