Start by checking which year of Motorola Razr+ you have: setup screens and customization menus vary by model, software version, carrier and region. The steps below follow Motorola’s current North American family guide where possible, with older menu paths clearly marked. If a label on your phone differs, use the guide for your exact model.
Before setup: identify your model and plan your transfer
Check the model year and carrier before following exact screen paths. Motorola’s current North American family guide covers the 2026 Razr, Razr+ and Razr Ultra; it does not make every menu or feature universal to older Razr+ phones. Decide how you will activate service and whether you want to copy data from an Android phone or an iPhone. You can complete transfer during initial setup; Android users can also resume it later from Settings.

How do I set up my Motorola Razr+?
- Activate your SIM or eSIM. Insert a physical SIM if your carrier uses one. For eSIM support, check your device details and contact your carrier; not all carriers support eSIM. Motorola’s setup guide covers SIM insertion and activation options.
- Power on and follow the setup prompts. Choose your language and region, connect to Wi-Fi, and sign in to the relevant accounts when prompted. Motorola’s setup guide also covers profiles and battery charge.
- Copy data from your old phone. Follow the appropriate Android or iPhone steps below. You can skip this during setup if you prefer to configure the phone first.
- Install available software updates. Once setup and connectivity are complete, check the phone’s Settings for system updates. Labels and paths can vary by model and software.
- Personalize the screens and controls. Set up the main home screen and external display separately, then choose your preferred Control Center style.
How do I transfer everything to my new Razr+?
Transfer results depend on the source phone and the content. Motorola notes that some items do not transfer, so check important files and accounts on the Razr+ before erasing or trading in your old device.

From an Android phone
Use Android Setup during the Razr+ setup flow. Keep both phones turned on, fully charged and connected to the same Wi-Fi network. If you already completed setup, Motorola’s documented route is Settings > Back up or copy data > Copy data using Android Switch. The exact wording may vary with software.
From an iPhone
Choose iPhone as the source in the setup flow, connect the Razr+ to Wi-Fi, and connect both phones with a suitable cable. Motorola cautions that app data, files stored in iCloud and DRM-protected music may not transfer. Confirm that any essential content is available on the new phone before relying on the transfer.

How do I customize the outside screen on my Razr+?
Motorola’s current family guide describes external-display customization such as themes, wallpaper, styles, colors, shortcuts and panels. Available controls depend on model and software. Open the external-display settings on your phone and use the options it presents; consult the guide for your model if the menu names differ.

Razr+ (2024): detailed external-display options
Motorola’s Razr+ (2024) guide documents more specific controls for that generation, including wallpaper, clock face, font and color, app shortcuts, panels, app behavior, Sleep display and Desk display. Do not assume these paths or features apply unchanged to other years.
On the 2024 model, Desk display can show a clock or a text-and-picture carousel when the phone is positioned in tent or stand mode, and you can add your own content. Motorola recommends keeping “Dim pictures & album covers” enabled in both modes to extend battery life and lessen the risk of image retention. Disabling Sleep display also makes Desk display unavailable. Check your own phone’s settings and model guide before changing these options.

Other personalization options
Motorola’s 2023 Razr+ guide lists Moto Personalize options including themes, fonts, colors, icon shape, display size and text, layout, Peek display, sounds, dark mode and external display. Motorola says not every phone has every feature. The names and availability may differ on newer software; its Razr+ (2023) guide is specific to that generation.

Use the main display’s home-screen controls to arrange apps, add widgets, change wallpaper and adjust display preferences. Motorola warns in its 2026 Razr family User Guide that “Software updates may change the look of your home screen.” If the instructions do not match what you see, check your software version and the guide for your model year.

How do I change Quick Settings and notifications?
Motorola’s 2026 family guide describes two Control Center styles. The choice is about how you prefer the panels organized, not a difference in performance.

Motorola’s Quick Settings help page says you can add, remove and rearrange tiles using the edit control. Lock-screen access to Control Center is a separate preference that you can enable or disable. Menu labels may vary; use your phone’s Control Center settings if the path differs.
Protect the displays and choose accessories carefully
Motorola’s 2026 family guide says not to remove the factory-attached main-display protector or install a third-party protector. Unauthorized removal or replacement may void the warranty. Films, covers and adhesives should not obstruct the air vent.
