Repair common Windows errors and clear accumulated junk for a smoother, more stable PC - no reinstall needed.Free scan · no reinstallTo set up a robot vacuum and map your home, first follow your model’s manual for assembly, dock placement and charging; then connect it through the manufacturer’s app, prepare the rooms, run the model’s mapping mode and review the resulting map. Exact buttons, Wi-Fi requirements and map-editing options vary, so use the instructions for your specific robot rather than assuming every brand works alike.
1. Prepare the robot and its dock
Unpack the robot, fit any parts and power the dock as directed in the model’s manual. Place the dock on a stable, level surface with the clearances specified by the manufacturer, then position the robot on or near it as instructed. Charging requirements and button combinations differ, so do not rely on generic setup steps when the manual gives model-specific directions.

ECOVACS’ general setup guide covers assembly, charging, Wi-Fi, app pairing and clutter removal, and recommends a stable dock location and clear approach. Treat it as broad guidance—not a substitute for the instructions for your model: ECOVACS’ robot vacuum setup guide.
2. Connect the robot to its app
Install the manufacturer’s official companion app and follow its on-screen pairing flow. You may need to choose a region, register or sign in, add the robot, grant phone permissions and select your home Wi-Fi network. For example, Roborock’s Android instructions include selecting a region, registering, adding the device, granting location access and entering the Wi-Fi details. iRobot’s Home App pairing for compatible robots uses Bluetooth to connect the phone and robot after the robot is set up and connected to Wi-Fi. These are examples, not universal steps.

3. Get the rooms ready for mapping
Before starting, open the doors to the rooms you want included and clear items that could block or confuse the robot’s route. Make sure the robot can leave its dock and travel through the areas to be mapped. ECOVACS advises opening rooms, removing interfering obstacles, connecting through the ECOVACS HOME App first and starting the mapping run from the base station.

ECOVACS describes virtual walls and custom cleaning after map completion. iRobot says that supported products can segment rooms and automatically name them; the company reports up to 90% accuracy for automatic kitchen labeling, while noting that recognition of other room types varies and may be lower. That is an iRobot-reported figure, not an independent test result. Check your model’s feature list before expecting automatic labels or map editing.
If app pairing or Wi-Fi setup fails
Start with the manufacturer’s pairing instructions for your robot. Check that the phone is selecting the intended home network and that the password is correct; confirm any requested app permissions, and restart the robot or router if the vendor recommends it. Avoid resetting the robot or deleting a map as an early troubleshooting step: there is no universal reset procedure or established rule for whether a reset preserves maps.
For the Roborock devices covered by its support page, the company says they do not support 5 GHz Wi-Fi or WEP encryption. Its checklist also advises checking the password, location permission, iOS Local Network permission on iOS 14 or later, selected network, phone use of cellular data or a VPN, and restarting the robot and router. Those requirements and suggestions are Roborock-specific; verify the network bands and troubleshooting steps for another brand with its manufacturer: Roborock Android setup and Wi-Fi troubleshooting.
