Set viewport_width and viewport_height on CaptureKit’s GET /v1/capture request to control the browser viewport in pixels. The endpoint reference lists defaults of 1280 × 1024 pixels. Use full_page separately when you want the capture to extend beyond the visible viewport.
Set the viewport width and height
Build a GET request to https://api.capturekit.dev/v1/capture, include the page’s URL, and provide both viewport dimensions. For example, this request asks for a viewport that is 1440 pixels wide and 900 pixels high:

The viewport determines the browser area used for the capture. The full_page option determines whether the output covers only that visible area or the whole page. Enabling full-page capture does not set the viewport height. For full-page captures, the endpoint reference separately documents scrolling options for loading lazy content.

Watch for a parameter-name discrepancy
CaptureKit’s endpoint reference documents viewport_width and viewport_height, while its official playbook examples use width and height. Because those names conflict in CaptureKit’s own materials, do not assume the two forms are interchangeable. Start with the viewport-prefixed names documented for the endpoint; if the dimensions are not applied, consult the current endpoint reference and playbook or contact CaptureKit support before changing parameter names.
Protect your API key
Keep the API key in server-side configuration, such as an environment variable or secret manager, and send it in the x-api-key header. Do not place a real key in browser-side code or in a URL that may be logged, shared, or exposed in page source. Use a placeholder such as YOUR_API_KEY in examples and documentation.
