To run different playlists on different scheduled YouTube broadcasts, create a separate live event for each channel in YouTube Studio, then connect OBS to the matching event and select the OBS scene or VLC Video source that contains its playlist. YouTube schedules the broadcast; OBS supplies the video. There is no built-in setting that automatically maps a YouTube event schedule to an OBS playlist.
How the YouTube and OBS schedules fit together
A scheduled livestream is a YouTube broadcast event. OBS is the encoder that sends the video feed, and its scenes and sources determine what that feed contains. YouTube’s Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder instructions cover scheduling an event and connecting an encoder with stream details. YouTube says, “Scheduling a stream lets you promote your stream.”

OBS’s Media Sources guide describes VLC Video playlists and their playback controls. It does not document selecting an OBS playlist automatically according to a YouTube event’s schedule. You need to match the YouTube event and the OBS media yourself, manually or through separately configured scene automation.
Set up a different playlist for each scheduled channel
- Switch to the channel that will host the first broadcast. In YouTube Studio, open Live Control Room, choose Manage, then choose Schedule Stream. Create an event or reuse an appropriate one. Scheduling creates an upcoming event that you can promote, share, and use for reminders.
- Keep track of the event and channel pairing. Note which channel and YouTube event belong with each playlist. Each channel’s broadcast must be matched to the correct OBS scene and event connection details.
- Connect OBS to the intended YouTube event. At stream time, use the event’s stream URL and stream key in OBS, or use YouTube’s supported account integration and select the intended broadcast. Treat a stream key as a credential: don’t publish it or include it in screenshots. Use the connection details for the channel and event you intend to stream to.
- Create an OBS playlist for the broadcast. In OBS, add a VLC Video source and add the media files in the desired order, or make a separate scene for that playlist and its layout. VLC must be installed; if OBS is 64-bit, install 64-bit VLC. Leave Shuffle off for a fixed sequence. Use the source’s loop and visibility behavior settings to determine how playback behaves.
- Check the pairing before going live. Confirm both the selected OBS scene or source and the YouTube channel/event. A correct playlist sent to the wrong event is still the wrong broadcast; an incorrect scene can send unintended content.
Repeat these steps for each channel and its scheduled broadcasts. The need to repeat and match the event setup follows from YouTube’s channel-specific events and encoder connection workflow; it is not an automatic multi-channel playlist scheduler.

Choose the right arrangement for the schedule
Different playlists for separate broadcasts
Use a separate YouTube event for each scheduled broadcast and select the corresponding OBS playlist scene or source when connecting to that event. This is the clearest arrangement when each channel or broadcast has its own content.
Different time blocks during one continuous broadcast
Make a scene or source arrangement for each block, such as morning and evening. OBS scenes organize sources, but the official OBS guides cited above do not describe a built-in wall-clock playlist scheduler. You can switch scenes manually, or investigate a scene-automation plugin. A third-party guide recommends Advanced Scene Switcher for timed changes, but its current workflow and compatibility are not established here; verify the plugin’s current instructions and test a full transition before relying on it live.

One ordered playlist with no timed changes
Use a single VLC Video source with the media items in sequence. Choose whether it should loop, shuffle, or stop, pause, or continue based on its visibility behavior. For a predictable order, turn shuffle off.

- The YouTube Studio channel and scheduled event are the intended ones.
- OBS is connected using the matching event’s stream details, or the intended broadcast is selected through account integration.
- The correct OBS scene is active and its playlist contains the intended media in order.
- VLC is installed and its architecture matches OBS, including 64-bit VLC for 64-bit OBS.
- If you use timed scene changes, test the entire sequence and transitions before depending on automation during a live event.
Troubleshooting mismatched playlists or broadcasts
The wrong video appears on the broadcast
Check the active OBS scene and the VLC Video source assigned to it. Then verify the scene is paired with the intended YouTube channel and event. YouTube’s event scheduling does not select the OBS scene for you.

The playlist does not appear as an available source
Check that VLC is installed and that its architecture matches OBS. The OBS Media Sources guide specifically notes the VLC prerequisite and the 64-bit matching requirement for 64-bit OBS.
The videos play in an unexpected order
Inspect the playlist order and the Shuffle setting in the VLC Video source. Turn shuffle off if the sequence must remain fixed.

A time-based scene change does not happen as expected
Do not assume YouTube’s scheduled event controls OBS media changes. Check the automation plugin’s current instructions and compatibility with your OBS version, then test the exact scene transition and playlist behavior before a live broadcast.
