You can switch those actions by changing the TUI keybinds in tui.json. The instructions below apply to the terminal interface, not the desktop app.
What OpenCode’s default keys do
In the documented TUI defaults, input_submit is set to return, so Enter submits the prompt. The input_newline setting includes ctrl+return, shift+return, alt+return and ctrl+j as ways to add a line. See the OpenCode keybinds documentation and the OpenCode TUI guide.

How to make Ctrl+Enter submit and Enter add a line
OpenCode lets you customize TUI keybindings in tui.json. Set the two fields to the following values for the mapping you want:

}This is a custom mapping using the documented field and key names; it is not the default configuration. If your existing file already has a keybinds object, change these two entries there rather than replacing unrelated settings.

Check the mapping in the TUI
- Save the
tui.jsonchange using the configuration location and format supported by your OpenCode installation. - In the OpenCode TUI, type a short prompt and press Enter. It should insert a line break rather than submit.
- Press Ctrl+Enter. It should submit the prompt.
The keybinds reference establishes the fields and their defaults, but does not show this exact reversed configuration as an official example. Verify the behavior in your installed version.
If Ctrl+Enter still does not submit
A terminal may not pass modified Enter keys to the application in the expected form. OpenCode’s TUI documentation notes that terminal configuration may be needed for modified Enter sequences. Check your terminal’s keyboard or key-encoding settings, then test the shortcut again. The configuration described here is for the TUI; the cited keybind documentation does not establish that tui.json controls prompt editing in OpenCode’s desktop app.
