Screenshot.Rocks’ built-in URL capture offers desktop and mobile presets, not a documented arbitrary viewport size. For a custom responsive width, use Chrome or Edge DevTools device mode. In Screenshot.Rocks, the W and H controls change the exported canvas dimensions—not the viewport the webpage uses to lay itself out.
Choose the right method for the size you need
| What you want to control | Use this | What it changes |
|---|---|---|
| Desktop or phone-sized URL capture in Screenshot.Rocks | Screenshot.Rocks’ built-in desktop/mobile options | The preset used to render the page. The online URL capture takes the first screen. |
| A specific responsive viewport width | Chrome or Edge DevTools device mode | The browser viewport used to display the webpage. |
| The dimensions of the final mockup image | Screenshot.Rocks’ W and H canvas controls | The exported image size, not the webpage viewport. |
This distinction matters: changing the canvas can crop or frame an image at a different size, but it does not make a website switch to the layout it would use at a different browser width.

Use Screenshot.Rocks’ built-in desktop or mobile capture
- Open Screenshot.Rocks’ website screenshot editor and enter the page URL.
- Leave Mobile unticked for the documented desktop preset, or tick it for the mobile preset.
Screenshot.Rocks documents the desktop capture as a 1440 × 800 viewport at 2× density. Its mobile guide describes a 375 × 812 point screen at 3× density, producing a 1125 × 2436-pixel image. The guide characterizes the mobile capture as loading the page like an iPhone-sized screen, with an iPhone browser identity so sites serve their mobile layout.

The online URL capture shows the first screen rather than the entire scrolling page. It may not work for pages behind a login, local pages such as localhost, or sites that block automated browsers.

Set a custom viewport width with DevTools
- Open the page in Chrome or Edge and open DevTools.
- Turn on device mode using the device toolbar control.
- In the Dimensions controls, enter the viewport width you want. Set the height as needed for the visible area.
- If image sharpness matters, adjust the device pixel ratio in the device controls.
- Reload the page after changing device mode when necessary. Some sites only recalculate responsive layout after a reload.
- Capture the page from the browser when it displays at the intended width.
This is the documented route for a custom responsive width; the Screenshot.Rocks URL-capture documentation describes desktop and mobile presets instead of an arbitrary custom viewport entry. DevTools works with the page open in your browser, so it is also the practical choice for a page you can access only through your own signed-in session.
Set the exported image dimensions in Screenshot.Rocks
If the website layout is already right and you only need a particular output size, use the editor’s W and H canvas controls. Choose a preset or enter exact dimensions; Screenshot.Rocks’ guide says each side can be 500 to 2300 pixels. The exported image follows those canvas dimensions. These controls set the mockup canvas, not the browser viewport used to render the page.

Capture pages that need your login or browser session
The online mobile URL capture cannot access pages behind a login, local sites such as localhost, or sites that block automated browsers. For a page already open in your own browser, Screenshot.Rocks’ browser extension captures the visible part of the current tab. That can use the browser session you already have; it captures the visible portion, rather than turning the URL-capture flow into a full-page capture.
Privacy note for URL capture
Screenshot.Rocks says that images added by dropping, choosing, or pasting are processed in the browser. Its optional URL capture sends the URL to a server for rendering, and Screenshot.Rocks says the inputs are not stored.

ScreenshotNeo provides a screenshot API and MCP server. One GET request can return an image or PDF. For example, this cURL request captures a page as WebP; see the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for request options.
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp
ScreenshotNeo removes cookie banners, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture; those cleanup steps can be turned off. Bot checks, blank pages, failed loads, timeouts, and cache hits are not billed, and the response identifies the page verdict and billing status in headers. Its MCP server provides screenshot tools for Claude, Cursor, and other MCP clients. The Free plan includes 1,000 shots per month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 shots.

What to do when the result is wrong
- The site still shows its desktop layout: Confirm that device mode is enabled and the width is set in Dimensions. Reload the page so it can respond to the changed screen size.
- The exported image has the wrong dimensions: Check W and H on the canvas. Those values control output size, not responsive viewport width.
- The mobile URL capture cannot reach the page: If it needs your login, is local, or blocks automated browsers, open it in your own browser and use DevTools or the Screenshot.Rocks extension for the visible tab.
- You expected a full-page image: The online URL capture is limited to the first screen. Use a browser-based capture workflow if you need the rest of the scrolling page.
