You can send through SMTPfast with either its REST API or its SMTP bridge, then check the message’s recorded events in the dashboard or API. Save the email ID returned by an API send to look up that message directly. Those records show what SMTPfast reports about the message lifecycle; a delivered event does not prove that the email reached the inbox or was read.
What you need before sending
- A sender address on a verified domain.
- An SMTPfast API key. The SMTP bridge key needs the
email:sendscope; reading logs through the Logs API requires the separatelogs:readscope. - For SMTP, an application or client that supports STARTTLS.
Choose a sending route

SMTPfast documents port 2525 for environments that block standard SMTP submission ports. Both routes use the same documented verified-domain requirements, rate limits, suppression checks, queueing, logs, and webhooks. SMTPfast documentation

Send with the REST API
Send a JSON request to POST https://smtpfa.st/api/v1/emails. Authenticate with Authorization: Bearer <API key>; provide from, to, subject, and at least one body field, html and/or text.

}'On a successful send, SMTPfast returns an email ID. Capture and retain it in your application: it is the most direct way to inspect this individual message later. A successful API response means SMTPfast accepted the send request; it is not evidence by itself that a recipient’s mailbox received the email.

Send through the SMTP bridge
- In your SMTP-compatible client, set the server to
smtp.smtpfa.stand choose port587or2525. - Set the connection security to
STARTTLS. - Use
smtpfastas the username and your SMTPfast API key as the password. Ensure the key has theemail:sendscope. - Set the From address to one on a verified domain, then send using your client or application’s normal workflow.
The bridge feeds into the same documented sending pipeline as the HTTP API, but the supplied SMTP setup does not specify a returned message ID workflow for every SMTP client. For broad investigation, use Logs and search by a known recipient, domain, or other available filter.
How to watch where it went
Look up one API message by ID
For a message sent through the API, request GET /v1/emails/:id using the ID returned by the send response. The result provides message details and its recorded events. This is the clearest route when you already know which message you are tracing.
Search the Logs page or Logs API
Use the dashboard’s Logs page for a quick manual check. For programmatic or filtered searches, use GET /v1/logs; the Logs API requires the non-default logs:read scope. Documented filters include event type, date range, exact recipient, sending domain, tag, and email ID, with cursor pagination. SMTPfast Logs API documentation

What the event status does—and does not—tell you

Keep three questions separate: did SMTPfast accept the request, what subsequent event did it record, and did the recipient actually see the email in an inbox? The send response answers the first; message details and logs help answer the second. The documented events do not independently prove the third.

Troubleshoot when the result is unclear
- No successful API send response: Check the endpoint, Bearer authentication, required JSON fields, and whether the From address belongs to a verified domain.
- SMTP cannot connect: Confirm the host, port, and STARTTLS setting. If your environment blocks standard SMTP submission ports, SMTPfast documents port 2525 as an alternative.
- SMTP authentication or permission problem: Check that the username is
smtpfast, the password is the API key, and the key includesemail:send. - You cannot read filtered logs: Use the dashboard Logs page or ensure the API key used for
GET /v1/logshas thelogs:readscope. - You need to investigate one message: Search by its saved email ID. If you do not have the ID, use Logs filters such as exact recipient, sending domain, date range, or tag.
- A webhook did not provide the full trail: Consult message logs; internal events such as queueing, sending, or retrying may appear there without reaching a webhook.
