How to Send a Website Screenshot as an Email Attachment with Zapier

Set up a Zapier website screenshot email, choose direct delivery or another email app, and test the attachment mapping before scheduling it.

In Zapier, use GetScreenshot’s “Take Website Screenshot and Send It via Email” action to capture a live website and send it directly to an email address. If you need a particular email app or more control over the message, use “Take Website Screenshot” and pass its result to a later email action, then test that app’s attachment mapping before relying on it.

Choose direct email or a multi-step Zap

Route What it does Best fit
GetScreenshot direct email action Captures the URL and sends the screenshot to the recipient address you provide. A straightforward delivery when the built-in email action meets your needs.
Screenshot action followed by an email action Makes the screenshot available to a subsequent Zap step, where you configure an email app. When you want to use another email provider or need more control over the email workflow. Confirm that provider exposes a usable attachment field for the screenshot.

Zapier’s documentation describes direct screenshot email delivery and passing a capture to another action; it does not establish identical attachment behavior for every connected email provider. Run a test and inspect the delivered message before enabling a recurring workflow.

Set up direct screenshot delivery

  1. In Zapier, create a Zap and select GetScreenshot as the action app.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  2. Choose “Take Website Screenshot and Send It via Email.”

  3. Enter the website URL and the recipient’s email address. Both are required for this action.

  4. Configure the capture. Full-page capture is listed as required; set the width to suit the page and how you intend to view it.

  5. Choose image or optional PDF output. If the page needs longer to load, configure the additional wait option.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  6. Test the Zap. Open the received email and confirm it contains the expected capture and output type.

Send the screenshot through another email app

  1. Add GetScreenshot and select “Take Website Screenshot.” Supply the URL and configure the capture, including full-page capture and width.

  2. Add the email app you want to use as the next action, then map its recipient, subject and message fields.

  3. Inspect that app’s available fields and map the screenshot output to its attachment field if one is provided. Field names and behavior can vary by integration; do not assume that every provider receives the capture as an attachment.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  4. Run a test Zap and check the actual email, including whether the screenshot is attached and opens correctly. Adjust the mapping or use the direct GetScreenshot email action if the selected integration does not expose a suitable attachment field.

Configure capture options

GetScreenshot’s Zapier action listing includes options beyond the required URL and full-page capture. Their availability can depend on the action or plan, and some are marked advanced:

  • Width: Set the capture width for the page layout you want.
  • PDF output: Choose PDF when a document-style attachment is preferable to an image.
  • Additional wait: Allow more time for a slow page to render before capture.
  • Highlight text: Use the listed option when you need text highlighted in the capture.
  • Element screenshot: An advanced option that requires the page element’s selector.
  • Advanced strategy, custom CSS or API options: Available in the action listing for workflows needing more specific capture behavior.
  • Asynchronous callback: The listing includes an asynchronous callback option for applicable workflows.
  • AI prompt: The action listing identifies this as Jaxon AI Plan only.

Login bypass is marked experimental in the action listing; treat it as experimental, not as a standard or guaranteed way to capture pages behind authentication.

Schedule recurring screenshot emails

For a recurring report, use Schedule by Zapier as the trigger and pair it with GetScreenshot’s direct email action. Zapier documents a daily schedule with this action; its template documentation also describes weekly and custom-frequency scheduling.

  1. Create a Zap with Schedule by Zapier as the trigger, and choose the interval you need.

  2. Add GetScreenshot and choose “Take Website Screenshot and Send It via Email.”

  3. Enter the target URL, recipient and capture settings, then test the trigger and email action.

  4. Review the delivered message before turning the Zap on, and verify that the schedule and attachment behave as intended.

Plan limits and workflow reliability

Zapier’s GetScreenshot app listing states that a Starter plan is needed to create Zaps with three or more steps. Account limits and plan requirements can change, so check the current limits in your Zapier account before building a multi-step workflow. A direct GetScreenshot email action avoids a separate email-app step; a multi-step route adds flexibility but depends on the receiving app’s fields and successful attachment mapping.

Use a test run for the exact URL and recipient you plan to use. Pages that render slowly may need the additional wait option. For recurring delivery, confirm both a successful screenshot and a correctly delivered email before relying on the schedule.

Troubleshoot common problems

  • The Zap cannot run because required information is missing: Check that the screenshot action has a website URL and, for the direct email action, a recipient email address.
  • The capture is cut off or the layout looks wrong: Confirm full-page capture is enabled and review the configured width. Test the capture again after changing the setting.
  • The page is blank or incomplete: If it is slow to render, increase the additional wait and run another test. The documentation does not promise that every page or login flow can be captured successfully.
  • The email arrives without an attachment: In a multi-step Zap, inspect the email app’s attachment field and verify that the screenshot output is mapped to it. If no suitable field is available, test the direct email action instead.
  • The element-only capture misses the target: Check the CSS selector against the page element; the element screenshot option requires a selector.
  • A multi-step Zap is blocked by a plan limit: Check Zapier’s current plan requirements for Zaps with three or more steps.

Or skip the browser setup

If you need a standalone screenshot API rather than a Zapier workflow, ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server. One GET request can return a PNG, JPEG, WebP or PDF; it is not itself a Zapier email attachment action, so you would still need to connect the result to your email workflow.

For example, this cURL request captures a page and saves the response as a WebP file. See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for request options.

curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp

ScreenshotNeo removes cookie banners, newsletter popups and chat widgets before a shot; bot checks, blank pages and failed loads are not billed. Its MCP server gives AI agents screenshot tools. The free plan includes 1,000 screenshots per month with no card, and paid plans start at $5 for 3,000.
