For Netflix, Disney+, Prime Video, and Apple TV, use each provider’s own security controls rather than assuming they share the same settings. Start with unique passwords, add the strongest sign-in protection each service supports, keep recovery options current, and know how to remove unfamiliar sessions.
Secure the Google Account behind your YouTube channel
YouTube channel access is tied to Google Accounts. If other people manage the channel, secure every account with access, not just the owner’s. YouTube advises teams to use channel permissions instead of sharing one password, and says each Google Account with channel access should have 2-Step Verification enabled. See YouTube’s channel security guidance and its account security recommendations.

Use a passkey or security key where supported
Google identifies passkeys as its strongest phishing-protection option among the listed YouTube sign-in methods. Compatible physical security keys also offer strong phishing protection. Google prompts are stronger than SMS verification codes; SMS and printed or downloaded backup codes are described as less secure options. These are comparative recommendations, not guarantees against every form of account compromise. Google explains that passkeys use public-key cryptography and are resistant to phishing, credential stuffing, and other remote attacks in its online safety guidance.

A physical FIDO security key is an optional authentication accessory; check that your account and devices support it and understand the recovery requirements before buying one. For people at elevated risk of targeted attacks, Google’s Advanced Protection Program requires a passkey or security key.

Keep recovery and team access under control
- Check that your recovery email and phone number are current, and preserve a fallback method before replacing or resetting a device.
- Review the Google Accounts listed in your YouTube channel permissions. Remove access that is no longer needed, and ask every remaining collaborator to enable 2-Step Verification.
- Use a distinct password for each account. A trusted password manager can help create and store unique credentials; Google’s safety guidance describes password-management tools and passkeys.
Protect the devices you use to sign in
Keep your operating system, browser, and security software current. YouTube warns creators about malware delivered through suspicious links in fake sponsorship or brand-deal messages, untrusted downloads, and fake software updates. Don’t open unexpected attachments or download files just because a sender claims they are needed to review a collaboration. Go to YouTube or Google directly instead of signing in through a message link. YouTube’s security guidance also recommends scanning devices for malware.
Protect your other streaming accounts
Use a unique password for every streaming service, then enable the strongest available second step. The sign-in, device-review, and sign-out controls differ by provider, so follow the service’s own help instructions rather than assuming a single setting applies everywhere.

| Service or account | Useful security action | Official guidance |
|---|---|---|
| Disney+ | MyDisney credentials apply across Disney family experiences. Use a unique password; if you suspect unauthorized use, reset it and log out all devices. Disney+ says it notifies account holders about a new-device sign-in or a Household update. | Disney+ account security |
| Netflix | If someone may be using your account, change the password and sign out all devices. Those devices must sign in again with the new password. | Netflix: stop someone from using your account |
| Apple Account, including Apple TV | Change the password, update unrecognized personal or security details, remove unknown devices, and verify control of associated email addresses and phone numbers. Use account recovery if you cannot reset the password. | Apple: if you think your Apple Account has been compromised |
| Amazon account used for Prime Video | Enable two-step verification, which adds a separate verification code to the password sign-in. | Amazon password security |
Apple recommends two-factor authentication and says security keys can add protection against targeted attacks. For Amazon, a Prime Video profile or account PIN is a separate access control; it does not replace protecting the Amazon account sign-in.
Make a recovery plan before you need it
- Confirm you can access the recovery email account and phone number connected to each important service.
- Set up a second sign-in method where the provider supports one, and store any recovery codes somewhere separate from the device you normally use.
- Before trading in, wiping, or replacing a phone, confirm that you can still sign in from another device or use the provider’s recovery process.
- For a shared YouTube channel, make sure every collaborator has their own account access and recovery method; do not rely on a shared password or one person’s phone.
What to do if an account may be compromised
Use the provider’s official app or type its address yourself; don’t follow a login link in an unexpected warning, sponsorship, or brand-deal message. Act from a device you trust.

- Review access and alerts. Check recent sign-ins and notifications where available. For YouTube, audit channel permissions and secure every Google Account with access.

Every slot streams the upload as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one price per slot; automatic recovery is included if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly: $9.99 per month.
