After JioFiber reconnects, VLC may not resume a YouTube video that stopped during the outage. Restore your internet connection, verify YouTube works, then stop the failed VLC item and open the video link again. There is no documented, reliable VLC setting that automatically recreates this specific YouTube playback session after a JioFiber disconnection.
Why VLC may stay stopped after JioFiber comes back
A network interruption can end the playback session VLC had opened. Restoring internet access does not necessarily recreate that session, so the player may remain stopped even though JioFiber is working again. A VideoLAN developer-list discussion describes a general case in which a stream client disconnects after data stops arriving and a server may close its side too; it concerns RTSP, not YouTube, so it illustrates the possibility rather than establishing how YouTube handles VLC sessions.

Buffering and reconnecting are different: a larger network cache may help smooth brief instability, but it cannot be relied on to recover a session that has already ended.
Reconnect VLC playback after an outage
- Wait for JioFiber to return. Check that the connection is working before changing VLC settings.
- Test YouTube outside VLC. Try the same video in YouTube’s website or app. If practical, check another device too. YouTube’s general playback troubleshooting recommends checking the connection, trying another device or connection, and adjusting playback quality when playback has trouble.
- If YouTube also fails elsewhere, treat this as a connection or service problem first. VLC cannot restore an internet connection or fix a JioFiber outage.
- If YouTube works elsewhere, reopen the video in VLC. Stop the failed item, then open the YouTube link again. This is the practical recovery step; it is not an automatic retry guarantee.
Can a VLC setting reconnect automatically?
No official VLC guidance identified for this specific situation documents a setting that reliably reopens a YouTube video after JioFiber disconnects. VideoLAN describes its support guide as informal troubleshooting material, not as confirmation of an auto-reconnect control.

Network cache
A third-party VLC tutorial suggests increasing the network cache to help with choppy streams. You can treat a cache adjustment as an experiment if playback is only stuttering during brief instability. It is not a fix for a completed disconnection, and the tutorial does not test this JioFiber-and-YouTube case.
Repeat or retry workarounds
Community posts describe using Streamlink retry options in a shell loop, and another user reports that VLC’s repeat-one behavior helped with an online radio stream. These are anecdotal reports, not supported VLC controls or verified fixes for YouTube playback after a JioFiber outage. A command-line retry setup may require technical configuration and should not be treated as guaranteed unattended recovery.

Troubleshoot based on what still works
- No device can reach the internet: wait for or troubleshoot the JioFiber connection. A VLC cache or playback option cannot repair a connection-wide outage.
- YouTube fails on this device but works on another: check the affected device’s connection, then try opening the video again in VLC once YouTube works there.
- YouTube works in its app or website, but VLC remains stopped: stop the failed playback and reopen the video link in VLC. The previous player session may have ended.
- Playback is choppy but has not fully stopped: a larger network cache is a possible experiment, but do not expect it to restore a terminated session.
- You need unattended retries: community-reported command-line approaches exist, but the available reports do not establish a reliable, supported method for this exact use case.
Would new hardware or a power backup help?
The available evidence does not establish a JioFiber router option that makes VLC reopen a YouTube session. Nor does it support buying a router, cable, or streaming device as a fix for this problem. A UPS can help keep equipment powered during a power cut, but it cannot restore a fiber or service interruption or recreate a playback session that has ended.

StreamNeo is a separate option for keeping uploaded videos live on a YouTube channel; it does not reconnect VLC or resume a video being watched in VLC. For that different use case, upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. StreamNeo loops the uploaded videos from the cloud, so nothing has to stay on at home. It streams the uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one price per slot, automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream, and the first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month.
